    Prussian Militarism

I've always felt some kind of romantic attachment to this but the aura of Prussian invincibility is soon blown away once you look into things more closely.

I'm not even sure that the Prussians were a great help to Germany as a whole, given how their agenda so often differed from that of the rest of the nation.

When you are a nation situated upon a plain between Russia and France, you are either militaristic or you are a vassal state.

Britain was every bit as militaristic, if not more so, than Germany, yet their propaganda was riddled with blather about "Prussian militarism" as the causus belli for the UK's involvement in two world wars from which they could have completely opted out. 1815 marked the last time Prussia and Britain were allies... it is also the year of Nathan Rothschild's financial coup that left him the practical OWNER of the U.K. It's a pity the Rothschilds were able to pull the wool over so many eyes. If I could go back and be in George III's shoes, I would have had that Jew bastard and his whole family dragged out in the street and shot.

By the way... never underestimate geography... that great moat between Britain and Europe, and the even greater moat between the old world and the new, made Britain and America practically invulnerable during the World Wars.
Most people think as they are trained to think, and most people make a majority.

Prussia was a vassal to both of these countries for a while though. That was my point about its vulnerability.

Britain was always militaristic and I have no illusions about that, but the Prussians took it to a different level. As Voltaire once said: 'Other states have armies; in Prussia, the army has a state'

Voltaire wasn't anti-Prussian, however. He greatly admired them and Frederick the Great (whose court was very Frenchified) was a personal friend of his.

Prussia pushed for development also in the rest of Germany. A lot of Germans from other partial state were educated at Prussian Universities.

Yes, of course there were a lot of positives but Prussia was never quite on the same wavelength as the rest of Germany.

For example, in late 1916 they had the Russians beaten and had they accepted Russia's surrender at that time it would have freed up around 50 divisions for the Western Front. Instead, they pressed on to gain as much territory as possible and - worse still - in order to destroy the country even further they allowed Lenin to safely travel through Prussia to start his revolution ... we all know how that ended!
