Indeed, you are right. When I know I am physically safe, I have no fear. Yes, I can look out of the window of a 40-storey building and would even enjoy it. Still, I wouldn't parachute for a million dollars. Even if I know it is 100% safe.

Our culture is poverty stricken in its inability to deal not only with death, but with Old Age.

An old person is perceived by many to be a fool and an incumbrance to our Modern World; something to be shut away and despised - a nuisance. Like a child but without the promise or potential; a dead duck.
And the reality of aging is afeared to the extent that people seek to make themselves look younger and spend money on such things as plastic surgery etc.,

This is very unphilosophical; how we could learn from ancient Aryan cultures where age was reverenced and seen as a sign of wisdom.

Respect for Elders goes hand-in-hand with race consciousness.

There is a contradiction about aging and old age. No one wants to be old and old people are considered a burden and living off the fat of the land without contributing to their upkeep. Of course I am talking about Australian attitudes. The contradiction is that while people are living longer and in better condition than ever before, everyone who is not old wants the old to quietly disappear while leaving their assets to them. The government does not want to honour its convenant with people to look after them when they are old and to whom they have paid their fair share of taxes. It is harder for anyone over 40 to find employment or a life partner or start a business. It is not that they are 40+ but no one wants to give them a job or consider them as potential spouses or good for lending money to. It is the way it is. In Australia the population is getting older, there are fewer children born, but no effort is being made to employ older people. Instead immigrants are sought with skills no one in Australia is willing to invest to acquire home grown. These immigrants are mostly from alien cultures and of non European race. I think Australia has become poorer because of this immigration and the disrespect of people of age.

And this points to the ultimately selfish nature of our 'Western' cultures.
No wonder nationalism dwindles in true support as the majority of Whites care only for their selves and their own pitiful lives.
No sense of race, no sense of Folk, no sense of ancestry, no sense of futurity.
Inability to sacrifice.
Pure materialistic Egoism.

yes the idea of being old terrifies me.i mean REALLY.

Anyways....for once I actually agree with Moody!

I think modern cultures are sick in their over-glorification of youth. This is especially true when you see people in their 30's and 40's or older trying to act like teenagers. As MTV teens say "Puleeze!" :eyes

Old age is nothing to fear or necessarily to be ashamed about. Many cultures(the Asians in particular, since they've kept this tradition alive) see old age as a glorious time and see old people as valuable members of society since with them carries the ancestral knowledge.

As the Russian Cossack Cadet Code declares:
Be polite with older people, whoever they are. If you feel you are right - argue your point calmly. Do not quarrel or wrangle with anybody - it debases you.

Although Im pretty young myself, in the inter-generational struggle I often side with the old folks. As for old age, I'll admit Im not looking forward to it but neither do I fear it.

I'll comment more on this later.

The only thing that I look forward to in old age is my heart exploding. If I follow the path of my paternal side I should be dead within the next 10-20 years. Programmer, laborer, and FBI agent all dead between 35-55. No signs of problems...their hearts expired and so did the rest of them. With limited family and no true immediate family I'm not worried about dying young. I believe our ancestors found the old to be wise and knowing because the old survived so many years for a reason, not because technology allowed them to live so long. If you've never had the displeasure to go into a 'retirement' home try volunteering at one for a bit. The smell of rotting flesh and soiled beds is disgusting. The people do not know where they are or who they are. I doubt that our ancestors would have given respect to the walking (rolling/lying) dead. I do not mean to make the elderly seem less human, but there comes a point where I see life not being worth the medication and treatments needed to sustain it for someone that can do nothing to enjoy it or enrich it for another. I will never be able to remove the images of seeing the old seated in chairs around nursing stations crying for their mothers and having absolutely no clue of what is happening. And of course there is that other category of the elderly that are entirely self sustaining. That can be learned from because of their long lives and diverse experiences. These are the ones to be treated like demigods; the prior group should be dealt with mercifully in order to prevent the twisted view of the old that many have.
