I am 0+. I've donated blood and plasma in the past but not recently. The last time I tried to donate blood I was told my blood pressure was too high. I don't want to donate blood anymore. I hope I never need a transfusion.

Yes , at least two times in the past , I had donated blood .

Cannot remember numbers anymore exactly .

Main reason , to not donate had been not able to receive dates ,
and no real positive emotions in my life , to go there with optimistic confidence .
Also , these permanent bankruptcy messages in the media about the national health care system did not motivate me : Donating blood to pensionists , who eat up their own children ; so if the system is not able to operate , then the patients unfortunately have to die .

Finally lost interest , as it seemed to me , that there was some artificial made up panic by the media , that would have suggested , that there had been "evil" shortages of blood conserves ; which were pronounced , to promote fear for higher prices , but money had been always there , as the refugee tsunami approves .

Recent article of local newspaper suggests , that the number of blood donors is stable , but after a certain age , pensionists are not allowed to donate anymore ; and the younger ones come less , and much more unregularly , than the "established" generation .

    http://www.kn-online.de/Kiel/UKSH-Bl...lutspender-aus

Short : 10 years ago , registered people on average donated 3.5 times a year , now it is 2.8 times , age between 18 and 68 , first donors minimum age 60 , minimum weight 50 kg , women 12 weeks , men 10 weeks pausing in between , due to menstruation .

The University Clinic Schleswig-Holstein would pay €20 , and a snack , and their donation chamber is located inside a newer Market Hall (Mall) , also for the availability for parking places , opened Monday to Saturday .

The Red Cross here will have two dates in May in mainly still white quarters , and two dates at the local main university during summer pause , and they likely offer just snacks and soft drinks .

    The German transfusion law

Germany has since the first half of the 1990s it's own Transfusions-Gesetz .
    https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfusionsgesetz

This Gesetz is accessible at gesetze-im-internet/tfg
    https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/t...8BJNE001302310

This law is very crude , and relies on criteria for the approval of donators made by the Federal Doctor's Chamber :
    https://www.bundesaerztekammer.de/ae...in/richtlinie/

Wikipedia says , this law had been introduced due to some international Blood Scandal during the 1980s .
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cont...blood_products

German page is a little different :
    https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infe...e_Blutprodukte

For the criteria for the choice of donators , wikipedia has also a page , that
says , that many criteria are only temporary , even in regards to homosexuals :
    https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auss...der_Blutspende

In summa sumarum : People can not rely 100% on the quality of blood transferred into them !

In doubt , case you cannot donate 100% pure golden blood , stay at home , since there is no Stalingrad going on currently .

Otherwise , I would suggest , to donate blood on regular basis , since that would increase the little chance to receive one's own blood .

Especially women should probably donate blood , when they want to give birth . But it is a sign of our sick societies , that children are born unter a bad star with lots of troubles !

As I understand it , it is not very good for women to have type Zero blood , since non-Zero type bloods inside their wombs could put them in danger ?

Remembered/wrote my blood type wrongly. It is O (Rh+). Happy about that as AB would have increased the risks of getting some diseases.

I'm type O. I have given blood many types.
In the forties, as a teenager, I gave blood to my father who had a kidney removed. He needed urgent blood. It was done body to body which was the safest method to do those days. These days blood is stored in bags but we don't know from what body it is coming from. How safe is it?
I myself is at risk, I only can get blood from another type O which is rather rare I'm told.
I had surgery a few times. Blood was taken from me and stored if needed.
    Giving blood saves lives.

I donated blood once to the Red Cross. My donation was intended for a certain person.
It failed. I never give blood to the Red Cross again. Go to a well known Hospital.
