Cape Town - The case of Jacques de Vos, a former Military Hospital doctor charged before the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for advising that the termination of a pregnancy is the killing of an unborn human being, has brought the issue of abortion in South Africa into sharp focus, with both pro-life and pro-choice supporters setting out their arguments.
On Tuesday, the matter was heard at a disciplinary inquiry and was then postponed to October 3 to allow the prosecutor of the case time to furnish the doctor’s legal team with all the necessary information they need to prepare their defence.

De Vos is represented in court by Keith Matthee SC who is appearing pro-bono, together with Martus de Wet and Khotso Modise of De Wet Wepener Inc.

De Vos, who is a member of a pro-life organisation called Doctors For Life International (DFL) has been barred from practising as a physician for over two years, since the complaint was lodged with the HPCSA.

At the time of his suspension, De Vos, 32, was a medical intern at 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg.

A statement from DFL said: “This case is likely to attract great interest in the medical community as health care practitioners such as Dr De Vos are often victimised and discriminated against for upholding the sanctity of life for unborn children and for advising women of the adverse effects of abortion on the mother of the unborn child.”

In South Africa, a woman’s reproductive rights, including the right to an abortion, under specific circumstances, are constitutionally guaranteed and the state is required to advance those rights.

However, African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) MP Marie Suikers, who is one of De Vos’s most vocal supporters, said yesterday: “We believe in the sanctity of human life, and we look forward to a time when the life of an unborn child will be given the reasonable protection that it deserves.

“We stand for the unborn and support Dr de Vos’s position that a foetus is a human being,” said Suiker.

At a recent Sexual and Reproductive Health workshop by Health-e News and Global Health Strategies, it emerged that stigma and judgement from colleagues make working conditions difficult for termination of pregnancy (TOP) service providers in the public health sector; that many opt to leave the service rather than continue to work in hostile environments.

According to a press statement put out by Section27 and Sonke Gender Justice earlier in the year, “To withhold information relating to the availability of abortion constitutes a violation of the right to bodily integrity; reproductive health care; the right to be informed of a range of diagnostic procedures available; and the right to give informed consent before receiving medical care.”

CBS Poll: 55% of Americans Support Restrictions or Ban on Abortion

    BreitbartJune 11, 2020

A new CBS poll released Monday found 55% of Americans support either restrictions on abortion or a ban on the procedure entirely.

    The telephone poll
surveyed the views of 1,309 Americans, including 454 Democrats, 331 Republicans, and 524 independents.

The results indicated that, while 43% of participants said abortion should be “generally available,” 55% said the procedure should be restricted or completely banned, including 31% who said it should be “available but under limits,” and 24% who said it “should not be permitted” at all.

With political party as a factor, only 20% of Republicans said abortion should be “generally available,” while 66% of Democrats and 39% of independents said the same.

Labour MP Rupa Huq says Ban Pro-Life Vigils Outside Abortion Clinics Nationwide

Pro-abortion Labour MP Rupa Huq has called for a nationwide ban on protests outside abortion clinics by pro-life activists who hold vigils and offer support to prospective mothers outside the clinics.

The Member of Parliament for Ealing Central and Acton — who campaigned to successfully impose a so-called ‘exclusion zone’ of 100-metres (330 ft) at the Marie Stopes abortion clinic in her constituency — said that the ban should be extended to the whole country. Huq will introduce the proposed ban to the House of Commons on Tuesday.

“This bill would have them moved away from clinic gates of all abortion facilities so they can stop the emotional blackmail of calling women approaching ‘mum’, lining the pavement with gruesome foetus dolls and images and filming women to shame them,” Dr Huq told the BBC.

“This is a national problem… that requires a national solution,” she said, adding that the process of imposing exclusion zones is “too hard, expensive, and the evidence burden is too high to expect councils to pick this up themselves”.

To become law, Huq’s nationwide ban would need support from the Conservative Party.

Campaigner Alina Dulgheriu, who said that the pro-life demonstrators convinced her to keep her child, saying that the ban “criminalises speech, assembly, charitable support and prayer”. “My little girl is here today because of the real practical and emotional support that I was given by a group outside a Marie Stopes centre, and I am going to appeal this decision to ensure that women do not have this vital support option removed,” Ms Dulgheriu said. “I cannot imagine a society where a simple offer of help to a woman who might want to keep her child is seen as a criminal offence,” Dulgheriu lamented.

In 2018, the High Court of England and Wales
ruled that the “public space protection order” (PSPO) that prohibited prayer groups from gathering outside the London abortion clinic was legal. In his ruling, Mr Justice Turner said that while the ban did indeed infringe upon the human rights of pro-life activists, he said that that the local council had the right to decide that exclusion zones are a “necessary step in a democratic society”.

The pro-life vigils were organised by the Good Counsel Network, a Christian organisation that has said that they have convinced hundreds of women to keep their children over the course of two decades of demonstrating outside the abortion clinic.

Writing for Breitbart London in 2018, London Assembly member David Kurten described his experience of meeting mothers helped by the Good Counsel Network:
What struck me is that all of the mothers who have received the help and assistance of pro-life groups were full of joy that they had their children, but most of them lived in very difficult social and economic circumstances. They didn’t want to have their babies terminated, but had been given no other option; until they met a helping hand, they felt as though it was the only option.

Mothers who have been helped by the pro-life group have also praised the role the Good Counsel Network played in saving their children in a video promoted by the group.

Labour female Musloid - toxicity cubed.

They need to replace the European to take control politically down the road of time, so they want to shut down any pro life groups. Yet their Antifa/BLM militants are given free reign. Now we see the globalist swine for what they really are.

One in Ten Irish Babies Aborted in First Year Since Legalization

Irish women have taken full advantage of the repeal of constitutional protection for unborn babies, with 6,666 abortions performed during the first year of legalization, according to official figures released Tuesday.

During 2019 there were 59,796 live births recorded in Ireland, meaning that more than one in ten (10.5% ) of known pregnancies (66,837) ended with an abortion, noted Dr. Angelo Bottone in an essay for the Iona Institute Tuesday. Since 375 women went to England for an abortion in 2019 to take advantage of the UK’s liberal abortion laws, especially regarding the later termination of children with Down syndrome or other
disabilities, the total number of Irish abortions in 2019 was 7,041, the highest in Ireland’s history.

According to Dr. Bottone, the number of Irish women opting to terminate their pregnancies increased by some 40% with the legalization of abortion. A high estimate suggested that about 5000 Irish women had abortions in 2018, jumping to 7,041 in 2019.

Whereas in 2018, an average of some 8 Irish women per day went to England for abortions, the number for 2019 rose to 20 abortions per day in Ireland. Ireland’s abortion rate is now higher than Italy’s, Bottone reported, at 6.9 per 1,000 women aged 15-44 as opposed to Italy’s rate of 6 per 1,000.

The new Irish report provides scant data as compared to reports from other countries, Bottone noted, and gives no information about the age, marital status, ethnicity, and number of previous abortions of those procuring abortions in 2019. Bottone also observes that when the abortion law was discussed in Ireland, pro-life legislators proposed amendments calling for more demographic details in the annual report, a proposal that was rejected. The lack of greater detail, however, makes it very difficult to address the situation of problem pregnancies and how to work to make abortions “rare.”

One key piece of information provided by the report was that just 0.3 percent of abortions involved a risk to the life or health of the mother. Much more is known about the 2,879 Irish abortions performed in the year 2018, since the UK report furnished much more demographic data than the one produced by the Irish government. One key fact was that 80% of the Irish women who had abortions that year were single and just 18% were married, with the remainder either separated, widowed, or divorced, Bottone notes. Moreover, nearly one in five (17.9%) of the women had had a previous abortion. “One of the slogans of abortion campaigners down the years has been that abortion should be ‘safe, legal and rare’. Does 7,041 strike you as rare?” Bottone concludes.

As Breitbart News reported last month, the Irish government has adopted a radical new program that will create “exclusion zones” around abortion facilities to eliminate pro-life demonstrations, counseling, and even silent prayer vigils. In a section titled “Protecting Women’s Health,” the text states that government will provide free contraception, enact the “Assisted Human Reproduction” bill, and establish “exclusion zones” around medical facilities, something unique in Europe.

The programme facilitates gender transition for minors, seeks legal recognition for “non-binary people,” and will introduce hate crime legislation. The assisted reproduction bill promised by the new programme will allow surrogacy, gamete “donations,” and experimentation on embryos as well.

I love how we finger wag about Hitler when we are doing worse on an industrial scale and calling it "women's health care."

Argentina's lower house passes bill legalizing abortion

Argentina's lower house passes bill legalizing abortion. The bill was approved in a 131-117 vote

    Lawmakers in
Argentina’s lower house on Friday passed a bill that would legalize abortion in most cases, a proposal from President Alberto Fernández in response to long-sought demands from women's rights activists.

The bill, which needs approval from the country’s Senate in a debate expected before the end of the year, allows for voluntary abortions to be carried out up to the 14th week of pregnancy.

The proposed law was approved in a 131-117 vote with six abstentions after a marathon debate that extended from Thursday into the early hours of Friday morning. Demonstrators in favor of decriminalizing abortion, who had spent the night outside the congress building in Buenos Aires, erupted with joy and embraced each other as they listened to the parliamentary speaker reading the vote's results on screens. Many of them wore face masks in the green color that has become a symbol for their movement.

Abortion-rights activists rally outside Congress as lawmakers debate a bill on its legalization, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020. The lower house is expected to vote on a legal abortion bill presented by President Alberto Fernández.

Hundreds of metres (yards) away, not far from the parliament building, hundreds of opponents dressed in light blue and carrying the national flag deplored the result, with some shedding tears.

Latin America has some of the world’s most restrictive abortion laws. Mexico City, Cuba and Uruguay are among the few places in the region where women can undergo abortions during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy regardless of the circumstances. Currently, many women who have an abortion in Argentina, as well as people who assist them with the procedure, can face prosecution. Exemptions are only considered in cases of rape or if pregnancy poses a risk to the mother’s health.

While the bill passed the lower house, the outlook is less clear in the country's Senate. Two years ago, during the administration of more conservative President Mauricio Macri, the upper house voted against a similar bill to legalize abortion after it was narrowly approved by the lower house.

Ahead of Thursday's debate, the Roman Catholic Church had appealed to legislators for “a second of reflection on what respect for life means,” echoing the position of Pope Francis, an Argentine, that abortion is part of today’s “throwaway culture” that doesn’t respect the dignity of the unborn, the weak or elderly.

Before getting elected one year ago, Fernández had promised to push for making abortion voluntary and cost-free.

Several thousand women seeking abortions have died during unsafe, clandestine procedures in Argentina since 1983, and about 38,000 women are hospitalized every year because of botched procedures conducted in secret, according to the government.

French National Assembly Approves Abortion up to Birth

The French National Assembly has approved a number of amendments to the nation’s bioethics law, one of which would legalize abortion-on-demand up to birth.

By a vote of 60 in favor and 37 opposed, the legislators agreed to permit abortion at any time for a mother undergoing “psycho-social distress,” a nebulous term that allows healthcare workers total leeway to approve the procedure.

French law distinguishes between l’Interruption volontaire de grossesse (voluntary abortion), which must take place no later than the twelfth week of pregnancy, and l’interruption médicale de grossesse (medical abortion), which may be performed without restrictions up to birth.

Currently, late-term abortions require medical approval limited to cases of severe malformation of the fetus or when a pregnancy puts the mother’s life in danger, but the new law would expand this second form of abortion to include cases where the mother suffers “psycho-social distress.”

In its late-night vote last week to revamp the country’s bioethics law, the National Assembly also approved taxpayer-funded artificial procreation for lesbian couples, genetically modified embryos, and chimeras.

The French pro-life group Alliance Vita underscored that psycho-social distress is an “unverifiable criterion,” which opens the door for women to have a medical abortion for any reason.

“Those who know that it has NEVER been possible to verify distress, which was the former motive for voluntary abortion, will understand where the trap lies,” wrote Tugdual Derville, founder of Alliance Vita.

Commenting on the results of the vote, Bishop Bernard Ginoux of Montauban tweeted that “this is the way that civilizations die and the genius of peoples is annihilated,” adding that future generations “are in great danger.”

The bishops also expressed his dismay that out of 577 deputies in the National Assembly, just over 100 showed up for the vote, for a law that sanctions “major ethical transgressions” that have been rejected by the General Assembly of Bioethics.

At present, some 220,000 legal abortions take place every year in France but many fear the number will increase with the new amendments that would expand access to late-term abortions.

There were further objections over the lack of time taken to properly assess the Bill. Only 25 hours were given to discussion, while the amendment on artificial procreation was introduced a few hours before the vote on the whole text.

After its approval by the National Assembly, the Bill will now return to the Senate for a second reading.

A joint committee of the two houses will vote on the law later this year, but if no consensus is reached the National Assembly’s decision will be considered final.
A nation is an organic thing, historically defined.

South Carolina has passed legislation banning almost all abortions.

THE AMERICAN state of South Carolina has passed legislation banning almost all abortions.

Governor Henry McMaster signed the ban into law on Thursday, despite a wave of nationwide opposition.

Women's health group Planned Parenthood immediately filed a lawsuit following the move, arguing the measure was unconstitutional, citing the 1973 case of Roe v Wade which protects a pregnant woman's right to an abortion.

The so-called 'foetal heartbeat' law bans abortion after the heartbeat of a foetus has been detected. This often happens around six weeks, usually before the woman even realises she's pregnant. The new law does however allow for abortions in extreme circumstances such as rape and if the mother's life is in danger. Those in favour of the bill have cited religious reasons, saying that abortions are immoral, while opposition to it claim that a women's decision to keep her child has nothing to do with the state.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R) alongside former president Donald Trump during a rally in 2018.

Gov. McMaster, a Republican, said at a signing ceremony recently that it has been a top priority of his to sign an abortion ban into law. Just before signing the law, McMaster said: "There's a lot of happy hearts beating across South Carolina right now." And acknowledging the legal fight he has to contend with, McMaster added: "Our battles are not yet over, but I believe the dawn of a new victory is upon us."

Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, who filed a lawsuit in federal court, said they hoped to undo what they see as an unconstitutional law, just as other successful challenges to similar laws have done in the past in other states. "This ban blatantly defies nearly 50 years of Supreme Court precedent protecting a person's right to end a pregnancy," added Nancy Northup, president of the Centre of Reproductive Rights.

Leading bishop tells Joe Biden to stop calling himself a 'devout Catholic' over abortion views

Leading Archbishop: Pro-Abortion Joe Biden Should Stop Calling Himself a ‘Devout Catholic

The head of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, Kansas City Archbishop Joseph Naumann, said this week President Joe Biden should stop calling himself a devout Catholic since his actions contradict this claim.

The president should stop defining himself as a devout Catholic and acknowledge that his view on abortion is contrary to Catholic moral teaching,” Archbishop Naumann told Catholic World Report (CWR) in a Feb. 13 interview. “It would be a more honest approach from him to say he disagreed with his Church on this important issue and that he was acting contrary to Church teaching.

When he says he is a devout Catholic, we bishops have the responsibility to correct him,” the archbishop continued. “Although people have given this president power and authority, he cannot define what it is to be a Catholic and what Catholic moral teaching is.” Mr. Biden is “usurping the role of the bishops and confusing people,” Naumann said. “He’s declaring that he’s Catholic and is going to force people to support abortion through their tax dollars.” “The bishops need to correct him, as the president is acting contrary to the Catholic faith,” he added. The archbishop was also asked whether he approved of a South Carolina priest’s decision to deny Biden Holy Communion in 2019. “I believe the president has the responsibility not to present himself for Holy Communion,” the archbishop said. “When Catholics receive the Eucharist, they are acknowledging the Real Presence of Jesus and also belief in the teachings of the Church.” “President Biden doesn’t believe in the Church’s teachings on the Sanctity of Human Life and he should not put the priest in the situation where he has to decide whether or not to allow him to receive the Eucharist,” Naumann continued. “He should know that after 78 years as a Catholic.” What Biden is supporting “is a serious evil,” the archbishop said. “I don’t know the disposition of his mind and heart but his act of supporting legal abortion is wrong.”

Last month, Archbishop Naumann condemned President Biden’s reinstatement of taxpayer-funded abortions around the world, calling his act “grievous.

It is grievous that one of President Biden’s first official acts actively promotes the destruction of human lives in developing nations,” declared Naumann in a joint
statement with Bishop David Malloy, chairman of the Committee on International Justice and Peace. “This Executive Order is antithetical to reason, violates human dignity, and is incompatible with Catholic teaching. We and our brother bishops strongly oppose this action,” the bishops stated.

The overturned Mexico City policy had “ensured U.S. taxpayer dollars only went to organizations that agreed to provide health services in a way that respected the dignity of all persons,” the bishops observed. “We urge the President to use his office for good, prioritizing the most vulnerable, including unborn children,” they added. “To serve our brothers and sisters with respect, it is imperative that care begin with ensuring that the unborn are free from violence, recognizing every person as a child of God,” they concluded.

The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is an abominable crime and a sin so grave that the harshest punishment the Church imposes — automatic excommunication — is attached to it. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person — among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.” Abortion “is gravely contrary to the moral law,” the Catechism declares, and, therefore, a person who procures an abortion incurs excommunication from the Church “by the very commission of the offense.”

The Church also teaches that Catholic politicians have a “grave and clear obligation to oppose” any law that promotes abortion.

Biden, Pelosi, and all other pro-abortion Catholics should be immediately excommunicated.

NWO Poop Frankie would never do that. He's just a Leftist Sock Puppet.

JP2 said one can never vote for a pro abortion candidate. That a public person that promotes or supports abortion is not only automatically excommunicated, but must publicly repent. They were to be approached by their bishop and given a chance to privately repent and change their public stance.
Imagine a politician trying explain to God at judgement how they had to keep their public and private lives separate? That secular law was more important than Gods law? Remember that when you’re publicly trying to defend a pro abortion person or idea!

Joe Biden also officiates at homosexual weddings. He did so in his own mansion in Delaware. The Catholic Church does not recognize such marriages but Joe does. The a Catholic Church condemns adultery yet Joe Biden publicly praised his sons adulterous affair with his sister in law. Just what part of Catholic teaching does Biden up hold? Joe is not a Catholic, he is a Democrat, a religion that supports all of Joes peculiar morality.

“You can’t be Catholic and be a Democrat.”
    - Fr. James Altman.

Joe Biden is a godless heathen and as a heathen, he is perfectly happy to pretend to be a Catholic so the Mexicans will vote for him. Same with Nancy Pelosi.

So why does the church continue to allow him to receive communion? I don’t pay much attention to Biden because he’s an illegitimate president but I do know he has attended mass since his inauguration. Why don’t the priests have the guts to deny him the Eucharist? The priests aren’t even following the church’s teachings.

CINOS (Catholics In Name Only) and Beijing Biden falls into this category. He should be ashamed to call himself a Catholic. I agree that all baby-killers should be refused the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

You might be able to fool or trick a few million voters but can you put one over on Jesus Christ? Never.
The Catholic Church has had a consistent teaching with respect to abortion since the early centuries. Even the Didache which precedes the New Testament records prohibiting the practice. There is no wiggle room here. Zero. For almost 2000 years everybody on this planet knows exactly what the Catholic Church teaches about abortion. We cannot change what Christ taught His Apostles.

Joe and Jill were NOT married in the Catholic Church, they were married at the United Nations Chapel. I've never seen anything about Jill getting her first marriage annulled. A Catholic and non-Catholic may have their marriage blessed by the Church even if the non-Catholic spouse does not wish to become Catholic. However, if either spouse was previously married, they must apply for and receive an Annulment before their current marriage can be recognized or blessed by the Church.
