The Trump coffee mug I ordered for my mom arrived on Saturday. She really likes it and is using it.

President Trump calls for manufacturing to return to the United States

In a town hall meeting aired on Fox News yesterday, President Trump took questions from the public on the topic of ‘America Together Returning to Work’. The President emphasized that the Wuhan virus (COVID-19) pandemic has made the vital importance of ending globalization and returning production to America clear.

One questioner asked President Trump what advice he would give future presidents to prevent a similar crisis from occurring in the future. The President was unequivocal, as recorded in the transcript: “We have to bring our product back home, we have to make our product in this country. We can’t be hostage, because that’s what we are. We can’t be hostage to other countries, China in particular, but also to other countries. We can’t ever let that happen again.”

Another caller asked the President about why the antibiotics America needs are manufactured in other countries such as China instead of at home, and when America would be self-sufficient with antibiotics. “The reason . . . is because other people that sat in this chair . . . they were foolish,” Trump said. “You could even say because they were stupid. Because they allowed this to happen. And it’s not only China . . . But we’re bringing that whole supply chain back. Nobody has to tell me to do it. I’ve been talking about that for years.”

The White House’s official Twitter feed stressed the point by tweeting a video clip from the town hall today in which the President was discussing the need to revive domestic production, under the text: “America can never again let our supply chains be held hostage by China or any other country.”

    Excerpt:
A boat parade down the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Beach County supporting President Donald Trump was organized on social media and drew the attention of Trump, who tweeted about it.A fleet of hundreds of boats paraded along the Intracoastal waterway Sunday in support of President Donald Trump with flag-waving spectators cheering from canal banks and seawalls.

The supersize procession, which traveled from Jupiter to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach and back, was dubbed “Trumptilla” by some supporters, who learned of the pageant through Facebook.

Organizer Carlos Gavidia, of Jupiter, said as many as 1,200 boats were involved in the 8-mile long parade, but only a fraction made it all the way to Mar-a-Lago. About 360 were counted traveling to the Southern Boulevard bridge just south of the winter White House before turning around and heading back north.

Is anyone else here doing the meditations to support Donald Trump?

I did them every Thursday and Saturday so far, and I can say they are quite powerful. I feel it's a strong supporting field created during these support meditations in unison.

How do you feel these meditations?

I'm not going to "send positive vibes" to alleviate woes of the Kushner Administration. Trump asked for all this drama and Ivanka can sleep in the bed she made.

Cut out the middle man and meditate directly for Schlomo, along with the return of the lowest black and Hispanic unemployment rates ever.

Donald Trump Shuts Huge Migrant Pipeline Run by Coyotes, Federal Agencies

President Donald Trump and his deputies have shut down the coyote-run smuggling pipeline that has used federal agencies to deliver almost 500,000 youths and children to their illegal-alien parents living in northern cities.

The success in closing the 12-year-old “Unaccompanied Alien Child” pipeline was admitted by the New York Times:

Hundreds of migrant children and teenagers have been swiftly deported by American authorities amid the coronavirus pandemic without the opportunity to speak to a social worker or plea for asylum from the violence in their home countries — a reversal of years of established practice for dealing with young foreigners who arrive in the United States.

The deportations represent an extraordinary shift in policy that has been unfolding in recent weeks on the southwestern border, under which safeguards that have for decades been granted to migrant children by both Democratic and Republican administrations appear to have been abandoned.

The shutdown is allowed by the combination of China’s coronavirus and by Congress’s Title 42 law. The Title 42 law allows border agents to block any migrants coming across the border at the request of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and it trumps the 2008 law that created the coyote/agency pipeline.

On May 20, Chad Wolf, chief of the Department of Homeland Security, said that CDC had ordered the Title 42 barrier to continue indefinitly, “until it is determined that the serious danger from #COVID19 has ceased.”

The Associated Press showed May 14 how Trump’s 2020 changes surprised a Honduran mother in Mexico who had watched the UAC pipeline work for years:

When she lost an initial [aslum legal] decision, she decided [the 10-year-old boy] would be better off temporarily with her brother in the United States. She watched him swim across the Rio Grande.

The woman expected he would be treated the same as before, when such children were picked up by the U.S. Border Patrol and taken to Department of Health and Human Services facilities for eventual placement with a sponsor, usually a relative.

But the mother heard nothing until six days later, when her family received a call from a shelter in Honduras. “They had thrown him out to Honduras,” she said. “We didn’t know anything.”

A 2008 law created the UAC pipeline. The Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) law directed officials in the border agencies and the Department of Health and Human Services to safeguard and help trafficked children — such as youth prostitutes — until they could find sponsors to live and recover in the United States.

The U.S. generosity was quickly exploited by smugglers, who used the 2008 TVPRA law to safely deliver the children of illegal migrants into the United States. The illegal-migrant parents were happy to use the joint coyote-agency pipeline because it was a safe, cheap, and reliable way to reunite their families and transfer their kids into Americans’ K-12 schools.

President Barack Obama protected the UAC pipeline, and portrayed the smuggler-delivered children as “unaccompanied,” even as his agency officials were relaying the children from the cartel-backed coyotes to their illegal-alien parents throughout the United States.

All told, the pipeline imported roughly 478,000 migrant youths and children between 2008 and 2019.

Fortune 500 Lobby Tells Trump: Your Visa Worker Curbs May Cause Discrimination

    Quote Originally Posted by Verđandi

Even brief and temporary curbs on the use of imported contract workers may cause discrimination against “our personnel based on country of birth,” according to a letter sent by Fortune 500 lobbyists to President Donald Trump.

The letter was sent to warn Trump as he pushes forward with plans announced on April 22 to review the various visa programs. The programs provide a growing army of foreign contract workers to Fortune 500 firms, despite the coronavirus crash that is causing mass unemployment among swing-voting U.S. graduates.

The letter, signed by Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and many other companies, says:

We urge you to avoid outcomes, even for temporary periods, that restrict employment-authorization terms, conditions, or processing of L-1, H-1B, F-1, or H-4 [visa worker] nonimmigrants. Constraints on our human capital are likely to result in unintended consequences and may cause substantial economic uncertainty if we have to recalibrate our personnel based on country of birth.

Immigration reformers scoffed at the lobbyists’ hand-wringing.

“The ‘unintended consequences’ these cheap labor advocates fear if guest worker visas are curtailed are having to hire American workers at livable wages,” said Rosemary Jenks, government relations chief at NumbersUSA. Her group favors a national policy of lower immigration and higher wages

Livable wages are “a consequence we should not only support but demand,” she added.

“Every piece of data the government collects …. [show] there are massive numbers of native-born Americans and legal immigrants already here not working,” said Steven Camarota, research director at the Center for Immigration Studies.

Trump’s April 22 announcement is giving Trump another opportunity to fulfill his March 2016 campaign trail promise: “I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”

That promise helped Trump win many votes from swing-voting graduates. But Trump and his deputies have ignored that 2016 promise since his Inauguration day promise of “Hire American.”

Fortune 500 companies use many visa programs to keep an army of roughly 1.3 million white-collar foreign employees in a wide variety of U.S. jobs, including many starter jobs in third-tier subcontractors. These foreign employees accept lower wages and tough conditions in hope of winning the deferred bonus of green cards and citizenship for themselves and their descendants.

Roughly 750,000 foreigners — mostly Indians — are imported via the white-collar H-1B program.

The visa workers are edging out Americans as they fill up starter jobs, mid-career jobs, and increasingly, in executive jobs — despite the growing list of corporate failures caused by the U.S. executives’ preference for outsourcing their workforces.

A correction. Carl Bildt was PM 1991-94, and minister for foreign affairs between 2006 and 2014.

I would also like to add that a globalist solution to the corona crisis would require either a deep and global penetration of international bodies (which is Bildt's dream, obviously) or a level of international cooperation equally non-existent.

Could Trump Have a Gaullist Moment?

1968 is a byword for political instability. As bad as the year was in the US, with many race riots and two assassinations, the year almost ended the French Fourth Republic. Between 1947 and 1954, the Fourth Republic saw the rise and fall of 15 different cabinets. The revolving door of mostly center-left politicians tried and failed to maintain France’s colonial possessions in Indochina. The Algerian insurgency, which began in the French-Arab city of Algiers in 1954, saw street-level assassinations of police officers, inter-communal violence, and eventually running battles with the French Army.

As in all periods of instability, the average Frenchman cried out for security. In post-World War II France, only one man offered the emotional power to unite France: Charles de Gaulle. In 1958, with the war going badly in Algeria and a military putsch in Algiers, de Gaulle returned to power and drafted a new constitution that gave the executive more power. Thus was born the French Fifth Republic.

The new republic managed to end the war in Algeria with a victory (although Algeria became independent) and put down the Algiers Putsch of 1961, which tried to persuade de Gaulle not to abandon Algeria. Algeria-is-part-of-France diehards in the OAS (Secret Army Organization) fought de Gaulle’s supposed perfidy, and came close to assassinating him in 1962.

The riots that began in Paris in May 1968 nearly removed de Gaulle from the presidency. As with our current sickness, the problems began in the universities. University students, many of them admirers of Mao, Lenin, Castro, and Trotsky, shut down classes and held “teach-ins” to preach even more leftism on campuses. The May 1968 civil unrest was called “a revolution that is something of a party,” but students and sympathetic trade unions halted the French economy for weeks. Street violence was widespread.

How did de Gaulle react? “No weakness!” he told his ministers. “Those who want to attack the state and the nation must be resisted.” The CRS (Republican Security Companies) took back the streets, despite being compared to the Nazi SS by rampaging students. De Gaulle held the Fifth Republic together, and managed a relatively smooth transition to a new president, Georges Pompidou, in 1969.

America is facing a version of France’s 1968 nightmare. After the death of George Floyd, looting and arson caused billions of dollars damage as rioters raged against “white supremacy” and “systemic racism.” The Democrats bowed to the mob; Minneapolis plans to abolish its police force, while the House unveiled the so-called Justice in Policing Act.

It took days for President Donald Trump to demand law and order on America’s streets. He sent the National Guard to Washington, DC, and smoke (not tear gas) cleared a path for him to stand in front of St. John’s Church, which rioters had burned the night before. Bible in hand, President Trump tried to convey a sense of power. It didn’t work.

Mr. Trump should have acted like de Gaulle. Like de Gaulle, he is not ideological. He acts on conservative and patriotic instincts. According to biographer Jonathan Fenby in The General: Charles de Gaulle and the France He Saved, Trumpism is like Gaullism, which “consisted mainly of a series of pronouncements from the leader that hardly amounted to a platform on which a country could be run.” In practice, Gaullism came to represent an enlarged and strengthened state that had popular support. Gaullism let capitalism flourish within limits, but was skeptical of it. France nationalized several industries.

De Gaulle also charted a course separate from the UN and NATO, which de Gaulle saw as American puppets. Gaullism today represents the legacy of anti-Communism of the French center-right. Modern French politicians still have to deal with the remnants of Gaullism, as future American leaders may have to deal with Trumpism.

President Trump must save the country. He must smash the radical movements at the heart of these protests, and eliminate their support. This means taking away federal money from universities. All Americans now live on an ever-widening campus, where identity politics and neo-Marxism infect everything. Mr. Trump should also break up teacher unions and encourage parochial schools and home schooling.

Finally, Mr. Trump needs to articulate something like Theodore Roosevelt’s New Nationalism, a vision of a United States dedicated to internal security, economic prosperity, and independence from China and multi-national corporations. Our country needs other leaders to denounce the campus hive mind and stand for firm policing, free speech, and patriotism. Young patriots need to flood military recruitment centers and police academies. The left began its “long march through the institutions” in the 1960s; we need a counter-march.

Bu Mr. Trump has the central role: He either fights the mob and its backers or continues to use half-measures that neither placate the rabble nor reassure Americans.
