Paris Is Burning: The Yellow Vest Protests In France

Socialism cannot exist without more taxes.
This is one more example how taxes enslave people.
French papers do not cover these riots in detail.
Thanks to British papers we get the real news

Socialism works until you run out of other peoples money. It runs out even faster when all that money goes to brown people.

I don't think Schwab meant it that way, HoM.

We little people are being used as welcome mats by the government institutions we put in place to maintain order. Now they are controlling everything without consulting us before doing it. What the hell happened to cause this madness?

I used "WE" because I'm paying for it with my taxes.

The " They's" outnumber us/we and that needs to be changed.

But that aside, I'm still not convinced that this is a nationalist uprising, specially in Paris. It's all leftists and chaots and communist students (the vast majority of students suck in the commi propaganda and happily shout down nationalists), protesting barriers to governmental jobs (because most of them fail to make it), half of the protesters in Paris/the vids are non-white anyway, they trash or vandalise national memorials. Apart from that the people now wear yellow vests, it's quite business as usual, Paris burns every other month after all.

Okay, scale and scope are different, but imho most of it is protest for the wrong reasons. We'll have to see where it goes.

The yellow vest thing is spreading to Netherlands, Germany and other places as well, here at least it's being rallied for by nationalist groups (Pegida, Kandel Ist Überall etc) and individuals. But as said, still not sure what to make of them... too many different groups, but no goals.

There is nothing wrong with Socialism. There is also nothing wrong with the principle of taxation but this goes wrong when it is the masses who are disproportionately taxed and the rich get richer.

It is part of the genetic make up of the French to constantly riot. If it were not Macron then it would be about their appalling 'golden delicious' apples.

Most Americans in this thread seem to blame socialism for the demonstrations and riots, but the French people and Walloons are demonstrating against the loss of their jobs + taxes on energy and fuel while at the same time busses and trains are abolished in rural areas (hence they can't go looking for new jobs) - and the dismantling of the welfare state, which is, admittedly, completely dysfunctional in France and Wallonia and does promote laziness and economic stagnation. Macron has no conscience though and only cares for the EU and the climate. His clique wants to drive the people from the countryside to the uninhabitable cities where they'll all learn to vote for the greens and liberals, and if not, for them to die and to die silently.

Also taking part in the riots and a major driving force behind them in Paris is a group of 3000 known migrant troubleseekers and gang members, who are only in it for the looting. Nationalists are part of the demonstrations as well and so is the far left and plenty of apolitical people - this is leaderless resistance - it's for real this time, there are no NGOs or Soros behind this, creating social unrest on purpose. There are many wounded, some are fighting in a hospital for their lives, others lost an eye due to water cannons.

We are expecting renewed riots in Brussels too - truckers, bikers and farmers are gonna take part in the next protest later this week. Our overlords are getting very nervous (Macron, Michel ... even Merkel fears what could happen) hence the media focus lies more on the riots than on the protests. There will also be a French delegation in Brussels. They will need more snipers on rooftops then. And more grenades. All of this unrest helps to destroy the political center and weakens liberalism, and that's a good thing and works in our favor. This is how the revolution may start, if not now (and probably not now, the riots came too soon and scared too many NPCs away), then one day.

    Brussels last week.

    Burn, baby, burn.

Mimimimimimi, but will they establish full NS over night? It won't get any better than this for the time being, the more chaos there is, the better it is for us - at least if the state can't control the situation anymore - you have to start somewhere for that. All radical nationalists in Flanders are unanimously behind these legitimate protests - including Voorpost, one of the few Flemish organisations taking part in the demonstrations - that should give you an idea who to support! We must rally behind the yellow vests, Velvy, they're common people standing up to corrupt power structures. It gives me hope for the future.

French cops have said that they sympathize with the demonstrators, here they are showing solidarity with them, by taking off their helmets. That must be a very troubling fact to the powers that be.

The French president’s proposed fuel tax is just as unpopular with police as it is with ordinary citizens, and they feel uneasy having to suppress ‘Gilets Jaunes’ protests that “in their heart” they back, their union chief says.

“Most of us back the Gilets Jaunes [Yellow Vests], because we will be directly affected by any rise in fuel prices,” Alexandre Langlois, the secretary-general of the VIGI police union, told RT France from their studio in Paris. “Most of us can’t live where we work, because it is either too expensive, or we would be arresting our next-door neighbors, so we drive significant distances.”

“Our tax contributions are going up in several areas, but there are no commensurate wage rises… It is hard to accept these cruel measures,” continued Langlois, 35, whose own law enforcement background is in border control and domestic intelligence.

The role of the police has come under intense scrutiny as the protests, which have brought tens of thousands to streets and motorways across France each of the past three weeks, have grown increasingly violent.

On Saturday at least 90 people were hurt – including 16 officers – during clashes at the Champs Elysees in central Paris, after tear gas, water cannon and stun grenades were unleashed against a crowd of radically-minded protesters, over 260 of whom were arrested. The interior ministry has called them “casseurs” (agitators) who “came to fight.”

Langlois agrees that the movement has been exploited by more radical elements, but says that cops are still reluctant to be sent out against the Yellow Vests, who took their name from the hi-visibility road workers’ jackets they have chosen as their symbol.

“It is difficult, because in our heart we support the protesters,” said Langlois. “The assigned cops tell themselves: ‘We will again look like villains, like attack dogs for the ministry and the government.’”

While Langlois is clear that some areas, such as the heart of the French capital are volatile and dangerous arenas for demonstrations, he also blames the higher-ups for repeatedly mishandling the response.

“Our colleagues on the ground have no operational freedom, they are merely following orders issued by those sitting somewhere else in police headquarters. At least once it would be right if the blame was assigned to the bosses, not those on the streets, who are doing what they can,” said Langlois.

In the wake of such fierce opposition to his measures, intended to discourage the environmental impact of traditional petrol-driven cars, president Emmanuel Macron has already offered to compromise on the exact format of the tax, and how it would be applied during periods of high fuel prices. But he says he will not totally abandon the levy, due to come in from January.

But now the protesters, who count left and right-wingers among their number, are demanding a range of other measures, including a slowdown in the pace of transition to green cars, a tax reduction across the board and a rise in state-mandated minimum wages.
