    Cohousing Co Housing Community Housing

The Cohousing Organisation of the United States :

With a mentioning of a Germantown Cohousing :

Cohousing should have a page on Wikipedia , too .

It is said , to have been invented in Denmark in the 1970s,
and an US-American couple studying architecture in Copenhagen
brought that concept to the U.S. .

People form a legal entity to purchase soil to build houses thereon .
They start together , knowing each other from the start , and not moving
into a neighbourhood by their own , without knowing the inhabitants beforehand .

    Home Owner Association (HOA)

In the U.S.A. the Home Owner's Association seems to
be somehow common , if not even "popular" and an
    everyday occurrence ...?

According to Wikipedia , these HOAs became even more
important during the civil war in the 1960s ,
and Supreme Court rules prohibited the exclusion
of strange looking people from such associations .

I would be interested to read more about personal
experiences of the US-members of this board .

In the United States, a homeowner association (or homeowners’ association, abbreviated HOA,
sometimes referred to as a property owners’ association or POA)
    is a private association
often formed by a real estate developer for the purpose of marketing, managing, and selling homes
and lots in a residential subdivision.[original research?]

Typically the developer will transfer ownership of the association to the homeowners after selling a predetermined number of lots.

Generally any person who wants to buy a residence within the area of a homeowners association must become a member, and therefore must obey the governing documents including Articles of Incorporation, CC&Rs (Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions) and By-Laws, which may limit the owner's choices.

Most homeowner associations are incorporated, and are subject to state statutes that govern non-profit corporations and homeowner associations.
State oversight of homeowner associations is minimal, and it varies from state to state.
Some states, such as Florida[1] and California,[2] have a large body of HOA law.[original research?]
Other states, such as Massachusetts,[citation needed] have virtually no HOA law.[original research?]

The German "Wohnungseigentümer-Gemeinschaft" I only know as
an assembly of owners of apartments in multi-storey houses ,
not for larger scale soil property devellopment .
