Post We Should Be Able To Rate The Random Quotes

We Should Be Able To Rate The Random Quotes. I don't like some of the quotes that are up there. We should be allowed to give negative feedback on the quotes we hate and positive feedback on the ones we like.

The Quotes with the most negative feedback should be taken down. While the one with that gets the highest rating could be named Quote of the week
and the person who submitted it get some sort of title.

    Just a thought.

Unless a new software modification comes out, I'm afraid it is not possible.

Also, I don't think the quotes system is that important for having a quote of the week and a rating system. IMHO, it's basically a waste of time and bandwidth.

Who cares if people agree with the quotes as long as they are thought- (and discussion) provoking? I'd rather see something interesting I disagree with strongly than something bland and agreeable..

IMHO, the problem with the quotes is that first-time visitors are likely to get the wrong impression of what Skadi is. For example if a Christian sees a blatant anti-Christian quote.

It's also true for the banners and "Top Thread of the Day". Like if a South-European sees a "Nordicist" banner, or if an American sees a thread about National-Socialism in German.

Everything in the movement is so personalised. People always react emotionally and only see what they want to see. Hence, we generally browse the web very quickly and read only a few lines before we move on.

One could argue that it is a good way of getting rid of ignorant people, but anyways... I think it's worth adding a clear description of Skadi at the top of the page. Especially about being for all Europeans, regardless of religion and ideology.

My problem with the quotes generator is that quite frankly, it sucks. There are over 400 quotes in the system, yet I keep seeing the same dozen or so, usually about coffee, freedom, or Nietzsche.

That´s interesting. I only see quotes about christianity, drug liberalisation and Voltaire. Seems every user has his custom topics.

Every now and then I see a quote by Voltaire and christianity. But even adding those it hardly makes a dent in the 457 quotes available for rotation.

i like the quotes by spengler and bertrand russell the best. but some of them have been added twice, eg :

    Added by: Stríbog #272
"Long ago the country bore the country-town and nourished it with her best blood. Now the giant city sucks the country dry, insatiably and incessantly demanding and devouring fresh streams of men, till it wearies and dies in the midst of an almost uninhabited waste of country. "
    - Oswald Spengler

and that's not the only one.
some of them are kinda silly (maybe one odd coffee remark would be amusing but HOW MANY?!) and bringing forum "in-fights" up where they could be misunderstood (like the some of the drug quotes (!) and the coffee stuff being put up as a response (?) to it)... skadi.net coffee addict's spiritual/heroin user's preservation forum :-S

What can I say? Great minds think alike.
