Matsimus: for the Love of Tanks

Matsimus, cool YT-chan for military buffs. Its owner is a gunner in a Canadian artillery unit, but he used to operate a tank in the British army before he migrated to Canada - he's also a veteran of the Afghan war. His themes have usually something to do with MBTs, IFVs, APCs and everthing related to them + comparisons between modern militaries and their hardware + speculations and theories about modern armed conflict. He also shows streams of the strategy and FPS games he plays.

“Every integral man has inside him, in his heart of hearts, a mystic center around which all else revolves. This mystic whirling lends unity to his thoughts and actions; it helps him find or invent the cosmic harmony. For some this center is love, for others kindness or beauty, others the thirst for knowledge or the longing for gold and power. They examine the relative value of all else and subordinate it to this central passion.” - Nikos Kazantzakis, 'Report to Greco'

    Historic WWII German AFVs.

Though not technically 'tanks'. These assault guns/howitzers were based on usually obsolescent tanks.

Aside from an ever increasing number of mortals who have willfully chosen to worship Satan and his minions, our battle has always been against the powers and principalities operating surreptitiously throughout this twisted world.

Interesting comparison of the M4 Sherman tank vs. MkV Panther tank:

He has done a bit on South African hardware as well:

Rooikat Armored Fighting Vehicle - South African Firepower

    Red-cat

Rooivalk Attack Helicopter - South African Gunship

    Red- Falcon/Hawk
Although the word "Commando" was wrongly used to describe all Boer soldiers, a commando was a unit formed from a particular district. None of the units was organized in regular companies, battalions or squadrons. The Boer commandos were individualists who were difficult to control, resented formal discipline or orders, and earned a British jibe that"every Boer was his own general".

    Wheeled AFVs

Currently my favorite wheeled "tank destroyer" and infantry support AFV, the Centauro I, and the upgraded Centauro II:

Actually, these wheled AFVs have a high survival rate and provide good protection for their crews against small arms, shell fragments, mines, and light cannon AP.

The armor can be upgraded as needed as well, using RA, and spaced armor.

Of course, these vehicles were never intended to duke it out with modern MBTs. They depend on rapid shoot 'n' scoot tactics.

If that thing gets shot at by an MBT it will disappear. However unlike an MBT it is easy to transport and getting to
places. I can only imagine how much cheaper it is.

I don't think it is as simple as that. The biggest threat to a tank in modern combat is losing its tracks and being a sitting duck. 2 Tracks vs 8 Wheels, the conclusion is not forgone but it is certainly up for debate depending on the application. Those are not the tyres you put on you you mum's van, speed and mobility is also much improved over a normal tank, especially in the bush where dust and sand is not your friend.
