Memory And Destiny.
The arrival of his review is "a day late, a dollar short" to say the very least. Considering the actions of Varg Vikernes in the passed few years, and also that he has completely abandoned the black metal "scene" (a very wise choice), I wonder why he even bothers to write this review, which I'm sure will only further the sales of the book, instead of hinder them.
There is more than one side to a coin.
Well, I read a review on the old official Burzum site some years ago which was from 1998 and in this one Vikernes considered the book - beside all critics and corrections he made - as recommendable.
If one reads the interviews and articles Vikernes made over the years there isn´t much coherence, to say the least.
I think the intention of this latest article is mainly to show his companions of old days that he has forgiven them and to make peace and settle things down.

Ah, I found that old review. Quite interesting how written words change their meaning over the years...![]()
http://burzum.org/eng/library/article05.shtmlThe book is pretty much objective, and even though there are statements that are uncomfortable and even insulting, I do not mind that at all. If it is the truth, it is okay
....
Apart from the things I have mentioned above and some other things as well, the book was - I think - good. It focussed on some interesting subjects, and was generally pretty objective (which is a good thing).

I realise that this is one of the most common charges made against Varg over the years but who hasnt to some degree changed their perspective or even entire Weltanschauung over the years?Originally Posted by Zyklop

Thank you for the article Zyklop, very interesting (and note again what Varg says about Black Metal) Its quite different and more clear than the review he released a few years ago on the first edition of Lords of Chaos.
You mean this one:

Yep thats the one. Which is why I am curious about this new version. Varg seems more "clearheaded" in this new review, though funny how he was changed his view on the authors so much with this newer one. I saw Satan Rides the Media before I even read that older Lords of Chaos and in each its obvious that the Black Metal scene and Varg are portrayed in a biased light yet this is the first time Varg addresses this so fully(where in his old review he does not exactly insult the book to this extent but merely corrects mistakes). It makes me wonder about this new edition.
You can say what you like about Varg Vikernes, his music sucks, he lacks coherrence but one thing you cannot take away from him is his huge contribution in reintroducing white pride, national socialism back into popular culture.
The National Socialist Black metal Scene would of had a lot less impact if it were not for this man.
