Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

    Because of "toxic masculinity"...

It's absurd. Usually it's the other way around: men act as a so-called "emotional tampon"/soundboard for women and women aren't necessarily great friends with any other woman. And as this video points out: the boyfriend, in this scenario, isn't exactly an example of toxic masculinity - he does talk about his emotions - and his girlfriend doesn't like it despite complaining about toxic masculinity. Makes no sense!

There’s a difference between toxic masculinity and claiming masculinity in itself is toxic, but the lines seem to be blurred in this day and age.

What exactly would toxic masculinity be? Is that part of a propaganda campaign to discredit all masculinity? Is it a misnomer for a lack thereof? Masculinity is a matrix of behavioral protocols that cause males to behave as appropriate men who are chivalrous, protect and serve.

Interesting that toxic masculinity has become an issue now. When men were using their masculinity to explore land, sea and space, since time immemorial, to benefit women and children, I don’t recall reading anywhere in history the term toxic masculinity being used.

We're obviously not talking about douchebags, chauvinists, lowlives and wife beaters here. Of course women deserve to and should be respected.

Men and women aren't obligated to do a damn thing. That is true liberation. Just be yourself. Whoever has a problem with that, then tough luck. Get over it. The backassward mentality that men and women have to be a certain way is what has caused all the trouble in the world. Toxic masculinity is one of the bad results of that mentality. Thank God the tide is turning and will keep doing so. At least the world is getting better in one area.

Gillette's 'toxic masculinity' ad haunts P&G as shaving giant takes $8B writedown

Gillette’s infamous “toxic masculinity” ad may cost Procter & Gamble more than anyone imagined in January.

The year that Gillette launched its “We Believe” campaign and asked “Is this the best a man can get?” has coincided with P&G’s $8 billion non-cash writedown for the shaving giant.

Chief Financial Officer Jon Moeller attributed much of the losses on “new competitors” offering “prices below the category average,” Reuters reported.

Observers such as Red State’s Brandon Morse responded by essentially likening the public stance to a lie by omission — the “toxic masculinity” ad punctuated news cycles for weeks and was repeatedly mocked on social media.

“Perhaps P&G isn’t willing to come forward yet with the fact that they made a monumental error in assuming men would take the ‘toxic masculinity’ commercial well, but they should soon,” Mr. Morse wrote Wednesday for the conservative website. “The brand is damaged enough to lose billions, and men aren’t coming back, especially with cheaper alternatives embracing men for who they are and not assuming the worst about them.”

Its not so much about listening to but simply having the mantra repeated over and over until people believe it by default.
