Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and am still learning how to navigate the site, I've never been a part of one before. I'll get right into it. I've been self taught and practiced in Heathenry since January, but recently my practices have caught the eye of my command. I'm a NY Air National Guard. In short, I made a commitment to let my hair grow its natural course as a sign of my dedication to the faith and what it stands for, as well as a personal vow I've made in an attempt to aid my spouse and I in conceiving. The vow includes daily prayers, abstaining from alcohol, and eating a very involved diet that helps promote healthy sperm and eggs, and only using all natural products on our bodies. The vow is to the fertility god, and to my spouse. Its to show the gods that I am constantly aware and committed to this endeavor, as well as a visual reassurance to my spouse that I am keeping my faith, hope, and optimism with it all, as well as remind her that I'm on this journey with her and she isn't alone.
The problem was that my hair grew out of regulation rather quickly and I had to submit for an approval from my command to continue the practice. I wrote a memo and the approval is with the accommodations department as i write this, but they highly recommended I reference a religious leader of sort that can attest to this type of practice. Unlike our previous faith we don't have a place of worship or a local community to speak to. I was hoping that someone here may be able to point me in the direction of someone who is considered a leader among the community, and can attest to the faith and my practice in order to help me gain approval. I appreciate the help in advance, and look forward to meeting people and learning from this forum.
