That's usually my birthday cake most summers of my youth: strawberry shortcake. As for a table like that; yes, it's also great to have vegetables and dips when it is hot out. I like making cucumber and tomato salad.

I was so drunk in the woods yesterday, I can't remember most of the stuff that happened. Whisky-Cola and mead is such a headshot combination. But yeah, it was cool.

    Kiel Week here .

    Sailing Festival.

    Largest in the world.

A few hours of rain this almost ended week,
temperatures below 20° Celsius , even down to below 15° :
    April's temperatures.
    Wind is available for sailing.

Clouding is 100% and therefore difficult to determine
the Midsummer Day precisely with ancient astronomical devices.
Mk 10:18 What do you call me a good master, no-one is good .

Gylfaginning 1.39 But on wine alone Odin in arms renowned Forever lives.

Either Kiel or Luebeck right now would be very nice. I've been taking my family down to the creek every weekend and swimming. I haven't been to the coast in 17 years.

Happy Midsummer to the Skadi members!

Locally, we've a Lutheran holiday at this time of the year, the nativity of St. John the Baptist, but there is also an old folk regional custom for midsummer. Mostly peoples associate it with old folk tales and marriage superstitions (here it's called Sânziene):

I think in Britain we should have an official celebration of Midsummer as a counterpoint to Christmas.

There is group of European immigrants near my grandma's house who celebrate it. They put strings of lights in their back garden and the women wear flower garlands on their heads. I don't know where they are from. One of the men is called Jan. I would guess they are Polish or Lithuanian.
