    Germanic Preservation vs. Evolution

Here's a question that I've been thinking about especially after reading the evolution thread. As we've seen, Germanic groups were not always the same. First there were Germanic tribes, then those tribes formed regional groupings and they lead to empires and countries. What today is English may have been Saxon or Danish back in the day. The question is, what do you think will happen overtime? Will we stop at the concept of nations, will we go back to larger tribal groupings, or will the nations split according to e.g. regional chapters? What about languages and cultures? Please share and motivate your thoughts.

Whether we like it or not with the advent of technology the world will get smaller and smaller and it seems that English will become and already the common tongue. However I think all this multiculturalism and globalism will have backlash and people will separate back into their own ethnics groups more or less. Perhaps at worst the larger Germanic spectrum will stand together over a long period of time.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

In Europe, it looks as though the nation states will survive the EU experiment. I don't think England, Germany or any of the Scandinavian countries wil dissolve into regions but there will probably be more devolution of power. Maybe everyone will become bilingual with English as a strong second language for the other nationalities. The ex-colonial countries seem steady enough too.

But of course, the main threat to identity is immigration and race. The trend is negative. Can it be halted? Can it then be reversed? Already in England (+ Wales) there is a non-white birth rate of about 25% and the mixed-race category is the fastest growing one. Maybe Germanic nations of segregated races is the future. Non-Germanic Europeans will eventually be absorbed into the Germanics, changing the genetics a little.

Culture is always changing but I would like to see compulsory teaching of Germanic medieval history, myths and legends (something to campaign for) to preserve the historical core of it. Otherwise, the Holywood versions will be all that most people will know.

I think Germanics will change over time, like they changed so far. When we say preservation, we don't say freezing us in a moment in time. Culture changes, languages changes, in the sense it evolves. We have new technology, and words to define that tehncology, new ideologies, words to define them. By preservation we mean the core of what it is to be Germanic, which was always largely the same.

The languages, while they evolve, were always Germanic languages. The cultures the same. The genetics the same. As long as we evolve within that framework, we don't change our essence. What we need to be careful to do is not to extend the boundaries of our kind.

Culture and language aren't static, they evolve, as does tradition. The point of tradition is to pass on the fire, sometimes ignite a new torch with it, but not to worship the ashes. Also, a lot of inventions have changed our lives, and our ancestors were known to be progressive and innovative. In fact so progressive that by and at large people of Germanic or kindred extraction are responsible for most of the things that make our lives easier today. Naturally this factors into a somewhat meta-cultural sphere as well.

Politically, I firmly believe that nation states will survive the big test at least in Europe. I think it'll take some European cooperation, at least between patriots, but that doesn't need to be a bad thing. Isolationism will kill us these days, and it's not an issue being on good terms with let's say French patriots. Tackle regional questions on a regional level, national questions on a national level, meta-ethnical questions on a meta-ethnical level and continental or global questions on the continental level; these are different levels of identity and they should be complimentary towards each other.

(In fact it's the only approach that will for example let Italian right-wingers understand that it's not their duty to decree upon South Tyrol, but at the same time for us to know that shutting our borders and let Italy be swamped with 'refugees' galore from the third world isn't a problem solved, but a problem that'll eventually come to us as well.)

Evolution of culture, language, approaches and heritage/tradition isn't a bad thing, it's a good thing as long as that happens within its own circle of influence. Old Norse loanwords didn't kill the English language, including biscuits into German cuisine didn't spoil our kitchen. Accepting a limited amount of people of kindred extraction, especially within the Germanic sphere isn't going to kill our Germanic countries either. And freedom of thought and religion is likewise OK unless it's an ideology damaging to our folk. A Catholic Swissman in a Heathen temple in Iceland isn't a threat. Entire hordes of ethnically and culturally completely incompatible folks from all over the place on the other hand ARE a threat, a major one.
-In kalte Schatten versunken...

(Heimdalls Wacht, In kalte Schatten versunken, stanzas 4-6)

Yeah. It is a matter of bending with the wind without breaking. It would take a North Korean type fascist government to preserve culture in an exact form.

But I'm worried that society is over-technologised. It is harming the environment, our physical and mental health and the way we socialise. Uncontrolled capitalism too will destroy traditions in its quest for more and more profit.
