    Can anyone give a simple answer to what it is and where it occur in the world?

    The lack of resolution is pretty unhelpful - I will say though, that if you are J2a1, it's mostly central, northern and western European; if J2a2, then mostly MENA; if J2b then mostly Middle Eastern.

    All it means, is that you descend, on your maternal line, from a woman who is called J2 (the first woman to have the J2 mutation, passing it on to her daughter(s), and so on, until your mum passed it on to you).
