Most Individual boomers aren't responsible, but the Cultural Marxists really came to power in that generation. My generation is well and truly being indoctrinated by the Cultural Marxists that now dominate education & the media.

Not all boomers were lucky enough to own a house, have a job for life and great retirement prospects, but there are many and it really pissed me of when one I knew lectured me that I should have my own home and complained that my generation were slackers and that anyone in it could get a permanent full time job if they tried.

This individual was in the same company for over 50 years, owned multiple homes, had an excellent retirement plan and voted the same traitorous major party all his life.

Was he happy that the country was being taken over by Arabs, Asians and blacks NO, but he voted for the same old party and was more worried in the end about negative gearing or super laws than immigration policy when it came to voting.
Our beauty is our power, our strength. We can’t allow them to change us, to lessen us. I will never grant them that satisfaction, and neither should you!

Those sort of people are very irksome, Aesthete. I hope you gave him plenty back!

How old was he, BTW? If he'd spent over 50 years in the same company he must have been getting on a bit

I mean, are we still talking 'Boomers' here or just boring old gits in general who get on everyone's nerves?

When you talk about hippies & student protest you need to remember the class differences within the boomers. Affluent boomers went to college and protested against the Vietnam War, boomers from blue collar families were drafted and sent to Vietnam. The boomers who are now in control of politics & culture were the privilege/entitled members of their generation. The Clintons, Bush 43, Obama, etc....

The boomers were groomed by individuals who came of age before WWII. The upheaval of the 1960s had its roots in the radicals of the 1930s. Those student protesters had adult advisers, just like the child protesters of 2019. The boomer generation were tools who are not man enough (or woman enough) to admit they wasted their lives and pissed way the legacy of the generations who came before them, pursuing a cultural-marxist agenda and the remaking ( or more aptly the destruction) of Western Society. They are now fighting to save their own reputations without any regard to what they are leaving behind.

It seems to me that whenever a succeeding generation has some kind of trouble, it automatically blames the previous generation instead of taking personal responsibility for its own behavior.

My parents and grandparents were decent, hardworking people who had their own share of pain and suffering to deal with, but they set good examples for me to use in my life. Whenever I did what I knew was right the way I was taught, things could get rough, but when I didn't, things seemed to get a lot rougher. But I don't blame my elders for any of the rough times we're experiencing today. Too many people now just want to go to college just because they think it's the thing to do, play games, and screw their personal lives up by being immoral and lazy. Then they have the gall to blame their predecessors for their empty lives. Screw that! Learn to take responsibilty for your own lives.
Not all in life is at it appears to be.

The problem is it is the boomers fault. Everything happened on their watch.
Then they turn and blame then next generations for not being "lazy".

When I grew up, kids were not showered with gifts at every occasion. My parents were not poor.
At 12 I got a bicycle, at 14 a watch, at Christmas and birthdays, I got some cloths, socks, school supplies, books, etc....
These days kids get what they want, they get showered with dozens and dozens of toys, many of them are just junk. They want more and more and continue to want more and more as they grow up.

    So. who's fault is it?

The boomers weren't in charge in the 1960s. The boomers had nothing to do with "Brown etc.. vs Topeka Board of Education" or "Shelley v. Kraemer". The boomers did not integrate the US military. The boomers were not old enough to vote when the Civil Rights Act & Immigration Act of 1964 were passed, let alone serve in Congress. A lot of boomers sold their souls for fame, fortune and power in exchange for carrying out the progressive cultural marxist agenda but the liberal democracy ideology goes back to the French Revolution with its radical ideals of liberté, égalité, fraternité. The boomers as a generation are much more fanatical about liberal democracy then the generations preceding it. Like Fundamentalist Christians, who want to be the generation to witness the second coming of Christ, boomers want to be the generation to bring the agenda of the French Revolution to its radical conclusion of extremist equality.

He got the job at 16 and is 66. I did not give it back as he was my uncle and I tried to show respect. He just was privileged in the sense he grew up in a homogeneous country where there were more full time permanent jobs for life, with affordable housing and great superannuation.

Well, relative or not, you missed a great opportunity to educate your uncle (who is clearly in a world of his own) about the problems facing younger people today.

It’s all very well complaining to folks on here but we already agree with you about the (((Establishment))) parties and the rigged system. You should be getting this message out to others in real life!

Depending on the academic, Boomers stop being born in a year of personal preference in the period 1960-1964. Yes, he's a borderline Boomer at best, but I wasn't calling Farage a Boomer. I accuse UKIP of having the Boomer spirit. And to my go-with-the-flow-generation that's the spirit of political correctness - political correctness not in its purest form as is the case with millennial SJWs, after all many a Boomer is critical of the islamic religion - but he is so because he hates religion, because Islam is Hitler, because feminism, because homosexuals, because decadent art & porn, because democrazy and free speech (but none for adversaries), at best it's because of job scarcity, rape and crime - it is because Boomers are fundamentally social-liberals and hedonists and Islam represents an existential threat to the Boomer utopia - "it's forbidden to forbid" is their credo (unless it's forbidding adversaries). And they have it oh so hard to think outside of the box - the yellow vest movement or political radicalism beyond their own liberal extremism is incomprehensible for the Boomer. They're still pre-occupied by irrelevant party politics from the Cold War and the Nineties.

But coming back to this idea of collective responsibility that some posters are trying to push (eg. 'it happened on your watch'), I wonder what they'll be saying in 30/40 years from now when all the Boomers are gone? I mean, in what practical and concrete ways are they resisting the tyranny of political correctness today and how successful has this been?
At most, you're gonna compete with multibillon dollar corporations on the margins of society where some free speech is still allowed, until your contribution starts making a difference and then the plug is pulled and by then your life may be ruined as well. It's no small task & no small sacrifice and it requires some resources, time, talent, courage and determination. Boomers haven't been sitting on their hands in the last few decades, they've mastered the art of filtering out truths and are in complete charge of popular culture - the left can't meme, sure, but they know how to make a movie or how to write a song. And to utterly wreck someone's life short of killing them. So kudos to those who try but don't expect miracles, only one thing shall kill political correctness and indeed the whole liberal world order in the end: reality on our doorsteps.
“Remember that all worlds draw to an end and that noble death is a treasure which no-one is too poor to buy.” - C. S. Lewis, The Last Battle
