Now finished in the Pyrenees but didn't see any Basque flags this year because the riders didn't go onto their territory.

Today's stage was Nimes --> Nimes. I don't see the point of going round in a circle when there are so many other places to visit but I suppose if you had to pick one town to do this then Nimes would be a good choice.

Famous landmarks include the Nimes Arena (an old Roman construction) where they have bullfights and the Pont du Gard aqueduct which also dates back to a period of the Roman Empire when Nimes was one of its western outposts.

As far as the cycling itself was concerned, we had another exciting sprint finish at the end of the 177 km circuit ...

Into the Alps today and the next 3 mountain stages should determine the winner of this year's race.

There are many possible candidates - it's up for grabs!

High drama today as the Yellow Jersey changed hands in bizarre circumstances, with the stage being abandoned due to snow in the Alps

    Well, what an anticlimax!

After yesterday's truncated stage we had one today that was nearly cancelled altogether. In the end it was shortened but there was a distinct lack of excitement as Le Tour closed with a whimper

Tomorrow's stage is not even a competitive one with the riders just ambling along in a procession, although there will be the traditional sprint finish on the Champs Elysées.
