    Le Tour

Cav just fell, but I hope he's alright & can manage to win another stage this tour.

I'm hoping Fromie or Porte win it!

The 2018 edition starts tomorrow, the 7th of July

I'm a big Cavendish fan and hopefully he can add to his 30 sprint victories this year. It's difficult to predict though because there are so many good sprinters out there now and I think the honours will be shared around more evenly in future.

As for defending champion Chris Froome, it'll be interesting to see what sort of a reception he receives because the suspicion of doping still hangs over him as far as many fans are concerned and the whole of his (Sky) team got jeered at the presentation a few days ago.

I need to pay more attention to the date, lol. I was all in a huff when I could not find it on the tele yesterday. My goodness, what was I going to do if I was not able to watch the Tour during my annual visit to family and friends?! Thank you for setting me straight my friend!

Either by accident or design, Chris Froome finished up in a ditch near the end of today's first stage

Given all the controversy about his participation in this year's event I'm sure that the conspiracy theorists will be having a field day right now

One of the things I enjoy most whilst following "Le Tour" is all the local history. Right now the riders are going through a region called La Vendée and the commentator mentioned a group called The Infernal Columns who were responsible for some massacres in 1794 ...

Must admit, I'd never heard of these before so I learned something there!

Stage #8 starts tomorrow in Dreux.

This is the place where the Front National made their historic breakthrough in 1983, taking control of the town from the Socialists to the huge surprise of everyone

I somehow doubt that this will be mentioned in the TV commentary though

I will be returning from my trip tomorrow and will have tv again. I have not been able to follow it live as I prefer, but I also enjoy the history of the areas they ride through. It will be nice to get caught up.
