Pleased to Find This Forum and Community!

    Good morning everyone!

(It may not be morning for you but it is for me here in Sweden). I found Skadi Forum yesterday when I was looking for some articles about Frau Holle and the two most informative articles were posted here. That is good enough reason for me to submit a joining request and thank you so much for accepting my application!!

I am Dutch but married to a Swede, meaning I have three Dutch-Swedish children. We live in London, UK, but spend as much time as we can in Sweden. I speak fluent Swedish, which is a bonus reading some of the old texts!

My day job is teaching shamanism and sacred art internationally. I teach courses in Norse shamanism in Sweden and I am here right now doing research for future courses (a 2 year program).

Just one question: is it standard practice to create a user name especially for Skadi Forum?

I look forward to connecting here and reading some of your posts!

    Ars ok Fridur!

    Welcome!

    Hi there.

Are you asking if people generally use pseudonyms on this forum? Then, yes, definitely. Using one's real name here is highly unusual, but not against the rules.

Anyways, do have a look around. You might find the Germanic Heathenry section especially worthwhile. Just noticed a thread there about using the term "shaman" within a Germanic context.

Welcome to the forum! I have the feeling you will be an interesting contributor to the Heathenry section.

As Stormraaf already said, it’s not against the rule to use your real name as a user name. But personally, I’d highly advise against using your full name anywhere on the internet, unless absolutely necessary. If you therefore want to change your user name, just drop us a message saying so in here.
Same goes for disclosing too much about your precise location or private information in general.

On another note, you might find these threads I’ve recently posted interesting:

I also do shamanism and I am interested in the northern way. I mostly studied Harner and Villoldoand develope my own methods.

I understand that shamanism is manipulating events by non-physical ways.

From my point of view it is exploring hidden capacities of the mind (or however you call it)

I look forward to read your contribution and discuss interesting topics.

My ancestry is from East Friesland and I know my grand and great grandparents did all kinds of curious things concerning non-ordinary reality.

So you are very welcome here.
