    Best Slasher Movie Antagonist? ;)

    Hey there,

I've just watched a few classic horror movies in the last few days so I'd like to ask the Skadi crowd about which of three most classic horror killers you 'like' the most? Aww, I know, crazy question, but let's have some easy talk.

Who's your favourite, which 'style' do you like the most? Maybe you like one of them for their evil perfomances or for their 'moral' codex?

So come one, vote and participate!

Candidate 1: JASON VOORHEES - 'Friday the 13th' horror series.

Background: Jason Voorhees died as a child when he swam in camp Crystal Lake and drowned because all others had a party and didn't care about him because he was just a mobbing victim and 'ugly'. His mother went on a revenge tour and killed many people in the camp before she was decapitated by a visitor. This event angered the restless soul of Jason and he came back out of the lake to kill all happy, easy and sex-obsessed adolescents who visit in Crystal Lake.

Interesting facts: Jason never says a word. He his basically invincible and comes back when stabbed or killed, it just needs a bit of time to regenerate His primary weapon is a Machete but he uses anything else to kill adult couples.

He never hurts children and animals!

Candidate : MICHAEL MYERS - 'Halloween' horror series.

Background: Mike Myers is the only normal human in the list. He has no super powers. He's entirely insane, malicious, evil and killed almost everyone of his family when he was a boy. As a boy he was a mobbing victim and his family just sucked, he hated his step-father. On Helloween he killed them all, just his sister survived. He was hospitalized in a mental institution for lots of years but no therapy worked. He created horror masks there and reduced speaking step by step. Then came the time when he became totally silent. And somehow he managed to escape...

Interesting facts: He wants to bond with his sister again as it can be seen in the latest Helloween flick. His primary weapon is a thick knife. There's almost no blood visible in the entire 'Helloween' series. Out of all the three candidates, Mike Myers has the least morals because his intentions for killing are nonexistent. Jason has a reason, Freddy has a reason but Mike Myers just kills everyone in his way.

Candidate : Freddy Krüger - 'Nightmare on Elm Street' horror series.

Background: Aww, what a background! Freddy Krüger was a child molester and child rapist in his previous life, and he was a product of a mass rape of his mother Amanda Krüger, a caretaker, in a forensic closed psychiatric block. Hence the evil genes.
The parents of the victimized children got hold of Freddy Krüger and tortured him to death for his deeds by setting him on fire and hiding his bones in a car junkyard. But Freddy Krüger isn't dead, he has the power to enter the dreams of the children at Elm Street, of the children of the adults who killed him by burning. So all of these nightmare massacres is a revenge campaign. Freddy comes from hell, btw.

Interesting facts: Freddy Krüger is immortal and has extreme powers but his source of his power is fear. The chance for the victims to survive their own dream is to fight back feelings of fear and get the upper hand.

Actually, I think the Teletubbies are the most evil. Forced brain-slashing of your kids minds and thought patterns.

So far, this thread is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen on Skadi

There was one called Black Christmas which marked the genres conscious descent into self-parody. Which is fine. Hardcore horror is bashed for assumptions about its fandom, but they have a sense of humour about their preferred media content.

Out of that list it would definitely be Freddy Krüger for me.
Both because he's simply the most classical one and also, because it's the most creative/ingenious idea. Most other Slashers seem a bit boring.

Having sleep paralysis myself relatively often, I can also certainly see, where they're coming from with the "dream monster", or literal "night-mare" and the struggle against it to wake up.

Dead Awake might be an even better fit for that, though(but not a Slasher movie):

This movie is by far the scariest horror movie that ever hit America. It ushered in a massive wave of race mixing between blacks and whites.

I have never seen the movie in fact I could not make it through the trailer, but I know the devastation it caused in the 90s to present.

Freddy Krüger is my favourite slasher movie antagonist. I find him particularly terrifying (but somewhat comical at the same time) because sleep is where one is particularly vulnerable.

I'll think about that one. I'm between Jason and Myers.

Freddy is a sassy one. He's got that going for him. But I dislike that the character and franchise itself went the cheesy direction. Nothing beats the first one.

I think when it comes down to Myers and Voorhees, it's the backstory that makes them compelling. While Jason's very cool and much more detailed and specific, I think it's the more vagueness that attracts me a bit more to Myers. He killed his sister as a kid. How did he become evil? Was he born that way? Rob Zombie's films basically shit on that whole concept with his typical white trash upbringing bullshit. I like that he's just plain evil without really an explanation.

Though I think Jason's story was much more effective film-wise as you saw it all unravel. As opposed to one short scene at the beginning of Halloween.

So my vote goes to Michael Myers.
