I shave them each week or, in winter, each two weeks, that's enough. I don't care what men do with their armpit hair, I accept either look. It's not that important and I don't think it's gayish. What I see more problematic is that more men shave their chest hair and their genital area these days. Sorry but I'm straight: That looks gayish. Don't frecking shave your genital hair, men. Be a men and not a metrosexual jerk, kthxbye.

You associate shaving pubes with being metro? I thought everyone did it. It allows the manhood to be seen better in its full glory.

Uhm, no? Maybe you as a man can't understand as you're not a woman and can't feel our way of sexual attraction but most women don't want a shaved zone, at least in Europe. It really looks odd. The thought that a normal man fights with the razor down below (balls and stuff) is...strange. xD Wrong focus.

Do you see shaving armpit hair as more normal for a man than shaving pubes? Because I thought it was the opposite.

Never tried to shave my armpits, and doubt I would.

    More "gender studies" idiocy:

University offers female students extra credit for not shaving their armpits

    • Gender studies professor encourages class to challenge social norms on appearance
    • Students say they were shocked by reaction from family and friends

And here is the site of the totally useless "gender studies" "professor":

I say some folks make too much fuss about stuff like body hair. It's nothing more than a personal preference, like shaving beards or head hair. If it makes you comfy, knock yourself out, who cares.

And about pubic hair, actually a lot of men shave it. As a woman I can say that I don't think it makes men gay or metrosexual. It's less stinky and messy as men don't tend to wash as often as women do. But whatever, I've got no preference unless the guy wants some action down there, if you know what I mean. Men demand that women shave, so it's mutual.

I don’t quite care what other men do with their body, to be honest and not even so much with women, unless it would be a very extreme case.
Nowadays, most people probably simply shave, due to the same reason they do everything else: because they’re told to do so by companies and their media advertisements, which in turn eventually results in a culture of peer pressure. It likely says more about the conformism of these people, than their sexuality.

Others simply prefer it for personal reasons, as they think it looks better and I accept this. That trend fluctuated back and forth for millennia anyway.
Even though I think, that it looks slightly ridiculous to entirely shave something that is surrounded(on men) by other hair. Logically, you’d have to shave off the rest of your body hair, too, to hide the “hole in the fur”. Which then looks even more ridiculous.

Besides, there's actually scientifical evidence, that underarm(and pubic) hair helps to spread pheromones:
The apocrine glands are modified sweat glands that are present in the areas that develop post-pubertal hair—the axillary and pubic regions—and their function is predominantly odour secretion. The specific development of hair in these regions (in our otherwise largely naked bodies) is thought to aid the dispersal of odorants in sexually mature humans. Hair provides a warm environment where the action of commensal bacteria can volatilize the precursor molecules released from apocrine glands. The responsible odorants have still to be demonstrated, but both androgen-based volatile steroids and MHC constituents can be found in axillary secretions.
Personally, I just trim every month or so but my hair is rather dark, dense and abundant, I probably wouldn’t care about it if that weren’t the case. I wouldn’t ever try to shave my armpits, though, let alone anywhere lower down. The very thought of a sharp blade makes me uneasy, to be honest.

I’m actually not sure what’s worse: that something like that is researched at a university at all, that you can even get extra credits for it or that letting hair grow, somehow “challenges” society nowadays.
