    Thumbs Up Immortal Symbols (1941)

Here are some rare videos that illustrate what the Volkskunde and Sinnbildkunde of the 1940s was!

The proper way of understanding our ethnic culture is to retrace the primordial esoteric meanings of the shapes and symbols (Sinnbilder) present under a hidden form in everyday life through folk art.

True primordial art always has a meaning. It is not just "decorative" in nature or simply meant to give a sense of belonging, or whatever superficial interpretation the people of today give to it.

The videos are in Dutch, so probably made by Hermann Wirth's team)

Many of these symbols were transported to Germanic colonies and wherever Germanic peoples settled.

In the US states of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and New York you can find all of these symbols on anything from pottery, furniture, barns, houses, tools, leather goods, metal works, and almost anything that is useful. That is folk art at it's best. Form always follows function and it brightens your daily life.

Of course these symbols were also used in written form in America and that is called Fraktur art. While Fraktur is also a written or printed alphabet font, it is also a folk art form.

Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

As far as I know Wirth was not assiocatied with the Volksche Werkgemeenschap/Der Vaderen Erfdeel. So changes are low that he was involved. And the brochure that goes along with the exhibition where the first video is about does not mention him either.

The sense of honor is of so fine and delicate a nature that
it is only to be met with in minds which are naturally noble or
cultivated by good examples and a refined education.
