    "In Memoriam" Songs

If you lost a family member or a person dear to you, post a song in their memory, or the songs which remind you of this person.

The thread is about persons, but you can also include "in memoriam" songs for lost pregnancies, unborn children or beloved pets.

I made a separate thread from the "Songs that make you cry" because the songs can be motivational or inspirational remembrance songs too

In the memory of my beloved brother

Avril Lavigne - When You're Gone

    "When You're Gone"

I always needed time on my own
I never thought I'd need you there when I cry
And the days feel like years when I'm alone
And the bed where you lie
Is made up on your side

When you walk away I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now?

    When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
    When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
    When you're gone
The words I need to hear to always get me through the day
    And make it OK
    I miss you

I've never felt this way before
Everything that I do reminds me of you
And the clothes you left, they lie on the floor
And they smell just like you,
I love the things that you do

We were made for each other
    Out here forever
I know we were, yeah, yeah
All I ever wanted was for you to know
Everything I do, I give my heart and soul
I can hardly breathe, I need to feel you here with me, yeah

    When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
    When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
    When you're gone
The words I need to hear will always get me through the day
    And make it OK
    I miss you

Carrie Underwood - See You Again

    "See You Again"

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

    Said goodbye, turned around
And you were gone, gone, gone
    Faded into the setting sun,
    Slipped away
    But I won’t cry
Cause I know I’ll never be lonely
For you are the stars to me,
You are the light I follow

I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, oh
    'Til I see you again

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

I can hear those echoes in the wind at night
    Calling me back in time
    Back to you
    In a place far away
Where the water meets the sky
The thought of it makes me smile
    You are my tomorrow

I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, oh
    'Til I see you again

Sometimes I feel my heart is breaking
But I stay strong and I hold on cause I know

I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, yeah, yeah

I will see you again, whoa
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, oh
    'Til I see you again.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

    'Til I see you again,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
'Til I see you again, whoa
    'Til I see you again,

    Said goodbye turned around
And you were gone, gone, gone.

One of the most sad songs ever, about people you loved and passed away. 'Einmal sehen wir uns wieder' - 'One day we'll see us again'

It's chanted in Bavarian dialect but don't care about. You'll get the tearily feeling anyway. I can't listen to it without crying each time.

Andreas Gabalier - Einmal sehen wir uns wieder

    Text in English:

One day we will meet again

The time, when we have to go, is set
Like a leaf is carried by winds
Back to the roots, as a child
When the blood, is freezing in your veins
The way your heart stops beating
And you're flying up to the angles
    Then don't have fear
    and let yourself be carried
    Because there's summat upon life
    You will see

One day, we will meet again
One day, I'll watch from above too
On my past days, I lay down gratefully
And I will close my eyes for eternity

All that remains is the memory
    and you slowly understand
that nothing will be as it was
Then shall the promise of a reunion
    give strengths to my heartbeat
    to go on living

One day, we will meet again
One day, I'll watch from above too
On my past days, I lay down gratefully
And I will close my eyes for eternity

A light shall shine for you until aeons
As a memory of your lifetime

One day, we will meet again
One day, I'll watch from above too
On my past days, I lay down gratefully
And I will close my eyes for eternity

On my past days, I lay down gratefully
And I will close my eyes for eternity

I have lost several very close friends in the last five years. We all grew up together, served together, hunted together, laughed and loved and tried to find our paths through this crazy life together.

The one that is most on my mind was my hunting and trapping partner. He said he never wanted to go to doctors and if it was his fate he would just go. Well, that was his fate and he suffered a major aneurism and was put on life support. He had a living will and I was in charge of what he wanted. They kept him on life support until I got there and I made the decision after talking to several doctors and I said goodbye to my friend.

He was probably the most efficient killer that I ever have met, when I seen him bear his sights on something I knew he would hit his mark every time.

We played this at his funeral, it was his favorite song.

Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon

He was very known for calling a Spade a Spade. On his job he had a lot of blacks working under him. He never addressed them by name and only called them "nigger". At his funeral they all showed up to pay their respects. I asked several of them why they were there when he was the way he was and they all said they had great respect for him for not hiding his racism and "keepin it real".
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

For my brother, who was both an accomplished cardiac surgeon and an accomplished flamenco guitarist.

I don't think of him often; I still just can't, though it's now been many years since he passed away. We were each other's best friend from our earliest memories.

I remember with a special fondness meeting my brother in Brussels after completing a year of study at l'Université catholique de Louvain (where all my coursework was in French, just for the fun of it, and to which I hitchhiked back and forth every day for classes from a little hamlet just outside Leuven), and taking a crazy trip by rail south through Belgium and France and Spain, to my family's modest summer hideaway near Marbella on the Costa del Sol, where we had spent much of our childhood.

We had decided it would be a kind of survival trip, taking only a small amount of money and other things with us, with the idea that we would sell some of our stuff if we ran out of money for food and lodging along the way. Which we did. Oh, such crazy but wonderful days. And how I wish I could have them - and him - back.

So in his honor, here is a rendition of one of the staples of the flamenco repertoire, the bulerías. This version is not bad - but my brother played it better.

A very good and sad song: "Epica" with "Feint".

    Feint

If you can ignore the Christian theme of the otherwisely well done video you will get what´s the message.

The video and title stands for itself. Memento mori! We must honor our fallen soldiers on either side - especially the Germanic ones. But also the Slavic, Romanic and Celtic people in Europe have the right to mourn their losses in the wars of the past centuries.

I wish that European people never fight each other again. Instead, Germanics, Slavics and Romanics must eventually unite to fight back the common enemy: Cultural marxists and multiculturalists in the inside and the Muslim and African invaders fron the outside.

Well anyway, what a great video and message!

Sonata Arctica - Letter To Dana

A beautiful "In Memoriam" song from the Sonata Arctica.

Sonata Arctica - Letter To Dana

Sonata Arctica - Letter To Dana

Dana, my darling, I'm writing to you.
Cause your father passed away, it was a beautiful day
And I don't want to bother You anymore,
I used to hope you'd come back
    But not anymore Dana.

My eyes might have betrayed me, but I have seen
Your picture on the cover of a filthy magazine
And I think my heart just cannot handle that
Dana, my darling, would be so bad.

Dana my darling I'm writing to you
Your mother passed away it was a really rainy day
And I didn't mean to bother you anymore
Your mother wished: Come visit your fathers grave, Dana

Your father disowned you because you have sinned
But he did forgive you in condition he was in
And I hope you won't do those things anymore
Dana My darling I'm waiting for

Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
    to travel away, faraway

No, you can't surprise me anymore
I have seen it all before
But it seems I cannot let you go
    Anyhow, Dana, Dana, Dana, Dana

And I think that I told you, I'd wait for you forever
Now I know someone else's holding you,
so, for the first time in my life - I must lie
Lie's a sin, mess that I am in,
Love is not the thing I feel know
I promise you: I won't write again 'til the sun sets
    behind your grave

Dana, oh, Dana I'm writing to you, I heard you passed
away it was a beautiful day
I'm old and I feel time will come for me, my diary's
    pages are full of thee

Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
    to travel away, faraway

In Memoriam the Woman with Most Beautiful Soul

In Memoriam a Woman with the Most Beautiful Soul who will be no more mine.

Die Erinnerung für der Frau mit schönster Seele wo meine Frau wird sein niemals.

Muss i denn zum Städtele hinaus

    Muss i denn

Muss i denn, muss i denn
    Zum Städtele hinaus, Städtele hinaus
Und du mein Schatz bleibst hier!
Wenn i komm, wenn i komm
Wenn i wiederum komm, wiederum komm
Kehr ich ein mei Schatz bei dir!
Kann i auch nich allweil bei dir sein
Hab i doch mei Freud an dir
Wenn i komm, wenn i komm
Wenn i wiederum komm, wiederum komm
Kehr i ein mei Schatz bei dir!

Wie du weißt, wie du weißt
Dass ich wandern muss, wandern muss
Wie wenn d'Liab jetzt wär vorbei
Sind auch drauß, sind auch drauß
    Der Mädele viel, Mädele viel
Lieber Schatz, i bleib dir treu!
Denk du nett wenn i ne andre seh
    No sei mei Liab vorbei
Sind auch drauß, sind auch drauß
    Der Mädele viel, Mädele viel
Lieber Schatz, i bleib dir treu!

    Übers Jahr, übers Jahr
Wenn ihr Träubele schneidt, Träubele schneidt
Stell i hier mi wiedrum ein
Bin i dann, bin i dann
    Dein Schätzele noch, Schätzele noch
    So soll die Hochzeit sein!
Übers Jahr da ist mei Zeit vorbei
Da gehör i mein und dein
Bin i dann, bin i dann
    Dein Schätzele noch, Schätzele noch
    So soll die Hochzeit sein!

    In English:

Do I have to, have to leave the city

Do I have to, have to
Leave the city, leave the city
And you, my dear, stay here
When I come, when I come
When I come again, come again
I come, my dear, to your house
Can't I be with you for a while right away
    I really enjoy you
When I come, When I come
When I come again, come again
I come, my dear, to your house

When you cry, when you cry
    That I have to go
Like the love was over now
Even if there are, there are many girls out there
My beloved, I am faithful to you
Don't think that when I see others
My love for you would be over
Even if there are, there are many girls out there
My beloved, I am faithful to you

Over the year, over the year
    When we harvest the grapes
    I myself start to think
If I am still, I am still your beloved
    We should marry
Over the year, my time is over
There I belong to me and you
If I am still, I am still your beloved
    We should marry.

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."
