    Germanic House Cat Breeds

I don't think we have a thread yet for Germanic House Cats, so what is your favorite breed.

Mine is the Manx, they are almost like dogs in some ways and very loyal.

The last picture is of the last one I had, her name was Hilda and I lost her in a tragic accident ( house fire ).

She was not too happy about her picture being taken, but she was a tough and mean cat to everybody but me.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

    Lol, Jackson

I like cats in general. As far as breeds go I don't have preference. I just like the big cats. However, except for the neighbourhood cats visiting occasionally I don't have any at the moment due to my father and the dog having a dislike for cats.

I dunno if the Manx qualifies as "Germanic," being from an island that's essentially Celtic.

I had neighbors when I was in high school who used to pay me to cat-sit their older female Manx cat while they were out of the country. She was very sweet but had arthritis, so it was hard to pick her up and pet her much. As I remember, her favorite food was cottage cheese..

I guess the Norwegian Forest Cat might be the most "Germanic" breed, and the Maine Coon is similar. I used to know a German guy who bred Maine Coons (in Germany.)

The Isle of Man has been primarily inhabited by either English or Norse population for a very long time.

There are other Germanic cat breeds besides the Norwegian Forest Cats:

    British Shorthair
    Scottish Fold
    Devon Rex
    German Rex
    British semi longhair
European shorthair ( originates in Sweden )
    British Shorthair

Many other European Cats bred in Germanic countries have origins in Europe Generally with highlighted mutations.

Admittedly most pedigreed cats were bred in the US and Canada with European/asian crosses and mutations.
