    Translation:

    1. Our Sylter Land, you are to us holy;
You are our own, you are our joy!
      Your old ways, to them we hold steadfastly;
The Sylter tongue we shan't forget.
We are forever to you bound,
So long as on this Earth we live.
And those who to the Mainland moved,
For you they cannot help but yearn there.
    Chorus:
    Come rain,
    Come sunshine,
    Come sad or happy times,
    To Sylt we cling
    Eternally;
    We remain true Sylterfolk!
    1. The seawind sang sighing softly,
      When I on Sylt as a child slept;
From the beach heard I the ceaseless roar,
As I by my mother's hand was led.
I still the places all remember,
That were to us children Heaven,
The fast-blooming meadow, by our house,
Our playground by the bushes on the dike.
      (chorus)
    2. Our memories keep holding fast,
To what we have treasured all our lives:
Our town, where we to school were sent,
Our bosom, our heath, the way by the cliff,
Each path, where we as children ran,
Each trail, that through the fields led,
The burial mounds, where we bonfires lit:
      It is all there still.
      (chorus)
    3. The burial mounds proudly standing;
      Our ancient warriors lie therein;
We shall tell our children this we know,
How in days gone things were.
Our forefathers have for many centuries
      Plowed and toiled here,
      And frequently, the high seas they fared;
Faithful to Sylt they remained at sea and on land.
      (chorus)
    4. Our Sylter Land, you are to us holy;
You are our own, you are our joy!
Though go oft the world through changes may,
Our language and ways still we cling.
      Let always, in jolly rounds
us of our Island talk and sing,
We promise: We will, remain forever bound
On our Sylt free through life shall we go!
      (chorus)

All dat is verswunnen, wat mi drück un dreev,
Hev dat Glück woll funnen, doch dat Heimweh bleev.

    Anthems of the Germanic World

I start this thread that we can collect the contemporary or the old Anthems of the World. I think that it will be not just Germanic, but any Anthem from any Nation.

I would start this thread the full version of the German Nationalanthem. In the Federal Republik of Germany just the third verse is the official.

    Deutsche Nationalhymne

Das Lied der Deutschen — Die Deutsche Nationalhymne

    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
    Über alles in der Welt,
Wenn es stets zu Schutz und Trutze
    Brüderlich zusammenhält,
Von der Maas bis an die Memel,
Von der Etsch bis an den Belt –
    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
    Über alles in der Welt!

    Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
    Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang
    Sollen in der Welt behalten
    Ihren alten schönen Klang,
    Uns zu edler Tat begeistern
    Unser ganzes Leben lang –
    Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
    Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang!

    Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
    Für das deutsche Vaterland!
    Danach lasst uns alle streben
    Brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
    Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
    Sind des Glückes Unterpfand –
    Blüh’ im Glanze dieses Glückes,
    Blühe, deutsches Vaterland!

In english the 1st and the 3rd verse:

    Germany, Germany above all,
above all else in the world,
    When it steadfastly holds together,
    offensively and defensively,
    with brotherhood.
From the Maas to the Memel,
from the Etsch to the [Little] Belt,
    Germany, Germany above all,
above all else in the world.

    Unity and rights and freedom
    for the German fatherland.
Let us strive for it together,
    brotherly with heart and hand.
    Unity and rights and freedom
are the basis of good fortune.
Flower in the light of this good fortune,
    flower German fatherland.

Another beautiful German anthem is the Anthem of the German Empire. You will hear that this use the melody of the earlier British God save the King/Queen.

Deutsche Kaiserhymne- Heil dir im Siegerkranz

    Heil dir im Siegerkranz

    Heil dir im Siegerkranz,
    Herrscher des Vaterlands!
    Heil, Kaiser, dir!
    Fühl in des Thrones Glanz
    die hohe Wonne ganz,
    Liebling des Volks zu sein!
    Heil Kaiser, dir!

    Nicht Ross und Reisige
    sichern die steile Höh,
    wo Fürsten stehn:
    Liebe des Vaterlands,
    Liebe des freien Manns
    gründet den Herrscherthron
    wie Fels im Meer.

    Heilige Flamme, glüh,
    glüh und erlösche nie
    fürs Vaterland!
    Wir alle stehen dann
    mutig für einen Mann,
    kämpfen und bluten gern
    für Thron und Reich!

    Handlung und Wissenschaft
    hebe mit Mut und Kraft
    ihr Haupt empor!
    Krieger- und Heldenthat
    finde ihr Lorbeerblatt
    treu aufgehoben dort
    an deinem Thron!

    Sei, Kaiser Wilhelm, hier
    lang deines Volkes Zier,
    der Menschheit Stolz!
    Fühl in des Thrones Glanz,
    die hohe Wonne ganz,
    Liebling des Volks zu sein!
    Heil, Kaiser, dir!

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."
/King Baldwin IV in the Kingdom of Heaven/

National Anthem of the Austro-Hungarian Empire - "dGott erhalte Franz den Kaiser"

The Middle Coat of Arm of Austro-Hungarian Empire.

    Vocal version:

National Anthem of the Austro-Hungarian Empire - "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser"

    Instrumental version

    Anthem of the Austro-Hungarian Empire

The music is composed by Franz Joseph Haydn from Burgenlandic Folksmotiven and he was one of the three classical componist in Vienna, Beethoven, Mozart und Haydn. He was the household componist of Prince Esterházy family and their castles were near Vienna, Haydn could be a Vienna-er "star" and a houshold componist too.

The verse has written by Lorenz Leopold Haschka in 1797. Since 1797 this was the Household Anthem of the Habsburg Dinasty and since 1826 till 1918 this was the Kaiser Anthem of Austria.

This is the melody of Das Lied der Deutschen, the Anthem of Federal Republik of Germany.

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."

Deutschlandlied / Das Lied der Deutschen

There are several versions of the anthem:

National Anthem of the Weimar Republic (1919-1933) - "Das Lied der Deutschen"

National Anthem of Germany - "Deutschlandlied" (Instrumental Version)

National Anthem of Germany (Deutschland) - "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit"

    Full text:

    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
    Über alles in der Welt,
Wenn es stets zu Schutz und Trutze
    Brüderlich zusammenhält,
Von der Maas bis an die Memel,
Von der Etsch bis an den Belt -
    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
    Über alles in der Welt.

    Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
    Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang
    Sollen in der Welt behalten
    Ihren alten schönen Klang,
    Uns zu edler Tat begeistern
    Unser ganzes Leben lang.
    Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
    Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang.

    Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
    Für das deutsche Vaterland!
    Danach laßt uns alle streben
    Brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
    Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
    Sind des Glückes Unterpfand.
    Blüh' im Glanze dieses Glückes,
    Blühe, deutsches Vaterland.

    English translation:

    Germany, Germany above all else,
Above all else in the world,
    when, for protection and defense,
    it always stands brotherly together.
From the Meuse to the Memel,
From the Adige to the Belt,
    Germany, Germany above all else,
Above all else in the world!

    German women, German loyalty,
    German wine and German song
    Shall retain in the world
    Their old beautiful chime
And inspire us to noble deeds
    During all of our life.
    German women, German loyalty,
    German wine and German song!

    Unity and justice and freedom
    For the German fatherland!
Let us all strive for this purpose
    Brotherly with heart and hand!
    Unity and justice and freedom
    Are the pledge of happiness;
Flourish in the glow of this happiness,
    Flourish, German fatherland!

Some information related to the anthem:

    - Written by Joseph Haydn in 1797 as anthem for the birthday of the Austrian Emperor Francis II of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser", which became the Austrian Emperors' anthem till the end of monarchy in 1918.

    - In 1841, the German linguist and poet August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben wrote the lyrics of "Das Lied der Deutschen" to Haydn's melody while in Helgoland.

    - It has been used wholly or partially as a national anthem since 1922.

    - A 4th verse was written by Albert Matthäi during the French occupation of the Ruhr region in 1923. It is not part of the anthem today.

    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Und im Unglück nun erst recht.
Nur im Unglück kann die Liebe
Zeigen, ob sie stark und echt.
    Und so soll es weiterklingen
    Von Geschlechte zu Geschlecht:
    Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Und im Unglück nun erst recht.

    Translation:

    Germany, Germany above all
And in misfortune all the more.
    Only in misfortune can love
Show if it's strong and true.
And so it should ring out
    From generation to generation:
    Germany, Germany above all,
And in misfortune all the more.

    - Since 1952, only the third ("Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit") verse has been the official anthem.

    - The sense of "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles/Über alles in der Welt" is not that Germany should rule the world as critics claim, but that it should be held in highest esteem and above anything else.

    Other German anthems:

Auferstanden aus Ruinen (Risen from Ruins) was the national anthem of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), commonly known as East Germany, during its existence from 1949 to 1990.

National Anthem of East Germany - "Auferstanden aus Ruinen" (1949-1990)

National Anthem of East Germany - "Auferstanden aus Ruinen" (Rare Version)" (1949-1990)

National Anthem of East Germany (Rare Instrumental) - "Auferstanden aus Ruinen" (1949-1990)

    Auferstanden aus Ruinen
    Und der Zukunft zugewandt,
Lass uns dir zum Guten dienen,
    Deutschland, einig Vaterland.
Alte Not gilt es zu zwingen,
    Und wir zwingen sie vereint,
Denn es muss uns doch gelingen,
Daß die Sonne schön wie nie
    Über Deutschland scheint,
    Über Deutschland scheint.

    Glück und Friede sei beschieden
    Deutschland, unser'm Vaterland.
Alle Welt sehnt sich nach Frieden,
    Reicht den Völkern eure Hand.
    Wenn wir brüderlich uns einen,
    Schlagen wir des Volkes Feind.
Lasst das Licht des Friedens scheinen,
    Dass nie eine Mutter mehr
    Ihren Sohn beweint,
    Ihren Sohn beweint.

Lasst uns pflügen, lasst uns bauen,
Lernt und schafft wie nie zuvor,
    Und der eignen Kraft vertrauend,
    Steigt ein frei Geschlecht empor.
    Deutsche Jugend, bestes Streben
    Uns'res Volks in dir vereint,
    Wirst du Deutschlands neues Leben,
Und die Sonne schön wie nie
    Über Deutschland scheint,
    Über Deutschland scheint.

    Translation:

    From the ruins risen newly,
To the future turned, we stand.
Let us serve your good weal truly,
    Germany, our fatherland.
    Triumph over bygone sorrow,
    Can in unity be won.
For we shall attain a morrow,
    When over our Germany,
    There is shining sun,
    There is shining sun.

May both peace and joy inspire,
    Germany, our fatherland.
Peace is all the world's desire,
To the peoples lend your hand.
    In fraternity united,
We shall crush the people's foe.
Let all paths by peace be lighted,
    That no mother shall again
    Mourn her son in woe,
    Mourn her son in woe.

Let us plough and build our nation,
Learn and work as never yet,
    That a free new generation,
Faith in its own strength beget!
German youth, for whom the striving
Of our people is at one,
    You are Germany's reviving,
    And over our Germany,
    There is shining sun,
    There is shining sun.

Heil dir im Siegerkranz (Hail to Thee in Victor's Crown) was from 1871 to 1918 the official national anthem of the German Empire.

National Anthem of the German Empire - "Heil dir im Siegerkranz"

    Heil dir im Siegerkranz,
    Herrscher des Vaterlands!
    Heil, Kaiser, dir!
    Fühl in des Thrones Glanz
    Die hohe Wonne ganz,
    Liebling des Volks zu sein!
    Heil Kaiser, dir!

    Nicht Roß nicht Reisige
    Sichern die steile Höh',
    Wo Fürsten steh'n:
    Liebe des Vaterlands,
    Liebe des freien Manns
    Gründen den Herrscher Thron
    Wie Fels im Meer.

    Heilige Flamme, glüh',
    Glüh' und erlösche nie
    Fürs Vaterland!
    Wir alle stehen dann
    Mutig für einen Mann,
    Kämpfen und bluten gern
    Für Thron und Reich!

    Handel und Wissenschaft
    Heben mit Mut und Kraft
    Ihr Haupt empor!
    Krieger und Heldentat
    Finden ihr Lorbeerblatt
    Treu aufgehoben dort,
    An deinem Thron!

    Dauernder stets zu blüh'n
    Weh' unsre Flagge kühn
    Auf hoher See!
Ha, wie so stolz und hehr
    Wirft über Land und Meer
    Weithin der deutsche Aar
    Flammenden Blick.

    Sei, Kaiser Wilhelm, hier
    Lang' deines Volkes Zier,
    Der Menschheit Stolz!
    Fühl' in des Thrones Glanz,
    Die hohe Wonne ganz,
    Liebling des Volks zu sein!
    Heil, Kaiser, dir!

    English:

Hail to thee in victor's crown,
    Ruler of the fatherland!
    Hail to thee, emperor!
    Feel in the throne's splendor
    The high ecstasy in full
To be darling of thy people!
    Hail to thee, emperor!

    Neither steed nor mounted knight
    Secure the towering height,
    Where princes stand:
    Love of the fatherland,
    Love of the free man,
    Create the ruler's throne
    Like crags at sea.

    Holy flame, glow,
    Glow and expire not
    For the fatherland!
    Then we all stand
    Valiant for one man
    Gladly fighting and bleeding
    For throne and empire!

    Commerce and science
    Hoist with courage and strength
    Their chief aloft.
    Warriors' and heroes' deeds
    Find their laurel leaves
    Faithfully preserved
    Upon thy throne!

    Forever continuing to bloom
    Our flag may wave boldly
    On the high seas!
    Ha, how proud and majestic
    Casts over land and sea
    Widely the German eagle
    Its flaming gaze.

    Be, emperor Wilhelm, here
Thy people's ornament for many a year
    Humanity's pride!
    Feel in the throne's splendor,
    The high ecstasy in full
To be darling of thy people!
    Hail to thee, emperor!

Deutschösterreich, du herrliches Land (German Austria, you wonderful country) was the national anthem of Austria from 1920 to 1929.

National Anthem of Austria (1920-1929) - "Deutschösterreich, du herrliches Land

    Herzen so sonnig, mitteilsamer Gunst,
Schaffen sich selber ihr Glück, ihre Kunst.
    Du tüchtiges Volk, unser Muttervolk,
Wir lieben dich, wir schirmen dich.

Deutschösterreich, du treusinnig Volk, wir lieben dich!
Dienende Treu schuf dir Not und Reu,
Sei uns in Freiheit dir selber treu!
Gibt es ein Schlachtfeld rings in den Reichen,
Wo deiner Söhne Knochen nicht bleichen?
Endlich brachst du die Ketten entzwei,
Diene dir selber, sei dein! Sei frei!

Wehrhaften Trotz in Kampf und Not!
    Du Bergländerbund, unser Ostalpenbund,
Wir lieben dich, wir schirmen dich.

    English:

German-Austria, thou art wonderful, we love thee!
High from the Alps' dome-like glaciers
    Waters rush to the Danube
Where they water lambs and shepherds in the highlands,
Drive mills and hammers at hillslopes and
Greet many villages and towns, and stretch
Joyously to their destiny, our unique Vienna!
Thou'rt a wonderful land, our native land,
    We love and protect thee.

German-Austria, thy people is brave, we love thee!
Thy soil is hard and meagre thy bread,
But hardship makes thee strong and bright.
Souls that are firm like mountains,
Minds that are agile like water,
Hearts so radiant, full of benevolence
Create their own happiness and art.
Thou brave people, our native people,
    We love and protect thee.

German-Austria, thy people is faithful, we love thee!
Thy serving loyalty has brought you misery and remorse,
Be now, in freedom, loyal to thyself!
Is there a battlefield in our neighbouring countries
Where the bones of thy sons do not bleach?
Finally, thou hast broken thy chains,
Serve thyself, only thyself! Be free!
Thou faithful people, our bearing people,
    We love and protect thee.

German-Austria, federation of alpine lands, we love thee!
Free through deed, united through choice,
Through fate and above all through blood.
Forever united, country in the eastern Alps!
Loyal to our culture and union!
Peace to our friends but to all foes who menace us
Defensive persistence in battle and misery!
Federation of alpine lands, union of the eastern Alps,
    We love and protect thee.

Sei gesegnet ohne Ende (Be Blessed Without End), also known as the ″Kernstock-Hymne″ was the national anthem of Austria from 1929 until 1938. The tune is also the same as of Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser and of the Deutschlandlied.

Sei gesegnet ohne Ende - Kernstock Hymne

    Sei gesegnet ohne Ende,
    Heimaterde wunderhold!
    Freundlich schmücken dein Gelände
    Tannengrün und Ährengold.
    Deutsche Arbeit, ernst und ehrlich,
    Deutsche Liebe, zart und weich,
    Vaterland, wie bist du herrlich,
    Gott mit dir, mein Österreich!

    Keine Willkür, keine Knechte,
    Off′ne Bahn für jede Kraft!
    Gleiche Pflichten, gleiche Rechte,
    Frei die Kunst und Wissenschaft!
    Starken Mutes, festen Blickes,
    Trotzend jedem Schicksalsstreich
Steig empor den Pfad des Glückes,
    Gott mit dir, mein Österreich!

    Lasst, durch keinen Zwist geschieden,
    Uns nach einem Ziele schau′n,
Lasst in Eintracht und in Frieden
Uns am Heil der Zukunft bau′n!
    Uns′res Volkes starke Jugend
    Werde ihren Ahnen gleich,
    Sei gesegnet, Heimaterde,
    Gott mit dir, mein Österreich!

    Translation:

    Blessed be endlessly,
    Wonderful native land!
    Green firs and golden spikes
    Friendly adorn thy lands.
    German labour, earnest and honest,
    German love, tender and soft,
    Fatherland, how marvelous thou art,
    God with thee, my Austria!

    No tyranny, no serfs,
    Open way for every force!
    Equal duties, equal rights,
    Free art and science!
    Strong bravery, firm look,
    Despite every stroke of fate
Go up along the path of happiness,
    God with thee, my Austria!

    Let′s, through no discord divided,
    Look at one goal,
Let′s in concord and in peace
Build on the boon of future!
    Strong youth of our people
    Becomes like its forefathers,
    Blessed be, native land,
    God with thee, my Austria!

Swedish National Anthem - "Du Gamla, Du Fria"

Swedish National Anthem - "Du Gamla, Du Fria"

It is based on a Swedish folkish melody. From this Edvin Kallstenius has arranged the Anthem and Richard Dybeck has written the lyric in 1844.

    Du Gamla, Du Fria

Du gamla, Du fria, Du fjällhöga nord
    Du tysta, Du glädjerika sköna!
Jag hälsar Dig, vänaste land uppå jord,
/: Din sol, Din himmel, Dina ängder gröna.:/

Du tronar på minnen från fornstora dar,
då ärat Ditt namn flög över jorden.
Jag vet att Du är och Du blir vad Du var.
/:Ja, jag vill leva, jag vill dö i Norden.:/

    In english:

    Thou Ancient, Thou Free

Thou ancient, Thou free, Thou mountainous north
Thou quiet, Thou joyful [and] fair!
I greet thee, loveliest land upon earth,
/:Thy sun, Thy sky, Thy climes green.:/

Thou thronest on memories of great olden days,
When honoured Thy name flew across the earth,
I know that Thou art and wilt remain what thou werest,
/:Yes, I want to live, I want to die in the North.:/

The two verses added by Louise Ahlén

    In English:

I forever want to serve thee, my beloved country,
Loyalty until death I want to swear thee,
Thy right I will protect with mind and with hand,
/: thy banner, the honourable carry high.:/

With God I shall fight for home and for hearth,
for Sweden, the beloved native soil.
I trade thee not, for anything in a world
/: No, I want to live, I want to die in the North!:/

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."

Our "new" desperately slow national anthem. It was made official only in 1981. Before that we had a much better hymn (see the second video) with the same melody than "God Save the Queen" (widely adopted in Europe by Denmark in 1790, the German Empire in 1795, Prussia in 1815, Imperial Russia 1816, Iceland, the UK, ...), in the US in "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", and certainly other Commonwealth countries. The lyrics were also much better IMO.

    Swiss National Anthem (1981)

    1. When the morning skies grow red
    And o'er their radiance shed,
Thou, O Lord, appeareth in their light.
When the Alps glow bright with splendour,
    Pray, free Swiss, Pray,
    For you feel and understand,
    For you feel and understand,
That he dwelleth in this land.
That he dwelleth in this land.

    2. In the sunset Thou art nigh
    And beyond the starry sky,
Thou, O loving Father, ever near
When to Heaven we are departing,
Joy and bliss Thou'lt be imparting,
    For we feel and understand
    For we feel and understand
That Thou dwellest in this land.
That Thou dwellest in this land.

    3. When dark clouds enshroud the hills
And gray mist the valley fills,
Yet Thou art not hidden from Thy sons.
Pierce the gloom in which we cower
    With Thy sunshine's cleansing power
    Then we'll feel and understand
    Then we'll feel and understand
That God dwelleth in this land.
That God dwelleth in this land.

    4. Towards us in the wild storm coming,
You yourself give us resistance and stronghold,
    You, almighty ruling, rescuing!
During horror and nights of thunderstorms
    Let us childlike trust Him!
    Yes, we feel and understand;
    Yes, we feel and understand;
That God dwelleth in this land.
That God dwelleth in this land.

    Swiss National Anthem (1850)

    Do you call, my Fatherland?
See us with heart and hand
    All devoted to you!
    Hail to you, Helvetia!
    You still have sons,
    Like Saint Jacob saw them,
    Joyfully hasten to the battle.

There where the circle of the Alps
    Does not protect you,
    Rampart made by God,
    There we stand like rocks,
Never turn pale, facing the danger,
Happy even in the lethal stroke,
    Pain be their mockery.

You nourish us mild and true,
Raise us so strong and free,
    You highland's bosom!
So be then in the field of danger,
    When destruction threatens you,
    Blood us a dawn
    Labour of joy.

    Gentle like the alpine lake,
    Stormless on the glacial snow
    Our courage grows.
    Dreadfully the lake rages, terrified,
    When thunderstorm overcasts,
So do we, when awakened to the battle,
    Rage against rage.

    And like avalanche's load
Crashes down fast like a flash –
    Grave all around –
    Throw in the alpine path,
    When the destroyer advances,
    Bullet's seed all around
    Fatally heavy.

    Fatherland, forever free!
    This be our battle cry!
    Victory or death!
Free lives, who is ready to die,
Free, who ascends the hero's path
    Ahead like a Tell,
    Never withdraw.

    But where peace smiles,
    After the raging battles
    Crowding game;
O, there be more beautiful in store,
    Far from the weapon's horror
    Home, to build your fortune,
    Be our goal!

British Anthem, God Save the Queen and Rule, Britannia!

Since 1745 this is the British Anthem and the countries of the British Commonwealth.

British Anthem, God Save the Queen

    God Save the Queen/King

    God save our gracious Queen!
    Long live our noble Queen!
    God save the Queen!
    Send her victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us:
    God save the Queen!

    O Lord our God arise,
    Scatter her enemies,
    And make them fall:
    Confound their politics,
    Frustrate their knavish[24] tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix:
    God save us all.

    Thy choicest gifts in store,
    On her be pleased to pour;
    Long may she reign:
    May she defend our laws,
    And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
    God save the Queen!

The first verse of "God Save the Queen" has been translated into French, as shown below:

    Dieu protège la reine
    De sa main souveraine!
    Vive la reine!
    Qu'un règne glorieux
    Long et victorieux,
    Rende son peuple heureux.
    Vive la reine!

There is a special Canadian verse in English which was once commonly sung in addition to the two standing verses:

    Our loved Dominion bless
    With peace and happiness
    From shore to shore;
    And let our Empire be
    Loyal, united, free,
    True to herself and Thee
    For evermore.

Another quazi-anthem is the Rule, Britannia!

    Rule Britannia

    Rule Britania!

When Britain fi-i-irst, at heaven's command,
Aro-o-o-ose from out the a-a-a-zure main,
Arose, arose from ou-ou-ou-out the a-zure main,
This was the charter, the charter of the land,
And guardian a-a-angels sang this strain:

    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.
    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

The nations, no-o-o-o-ot so blest as thee,
Must i-i-i-i-in their turn, to ty-y—yrants fall,
Must in their turn, to ty-y-rants fall,
While thou shalt flourish, shalt flourish great and free,
The dread and e-e-e-e-nvy of them all.

    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.
    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

And now commonly rendered in alternate form:

When Britain fi-i-irst, at heaven's command,
Aro-o-o-o-ose from out the a-a-a-zure main,
Arose, arose from out the azure main,
This was the charter, the charter of the land,
And guardian a-a-angels sang this strain:

    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.
    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

Still more maje-e-estic shalt thou rise,
More dre-e-e-e-eadful from each foreign stroke,
More dreadful, dreadful from each foreign stroke,
Loud blast above us, loud blast that tears the skies
Serves but to ro-o-o-ot thy native oak.

    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.
    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never will be slaves.

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."

Another versions of the Anthem of the Austro-Hungarian Empire

A beautiful instrumental version. It is interesting that the melody a little bit different to the German anthem.

Anthem of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (1867-1919)

    The Italian version:

    Inno Austro-Ungarico (Versione Italiana)

    Italian lyric:

    1. Serbi Dio l'austriaco regno
    Guardi il nostro imperator!
Nella fé che gli è sostegno
    Regga noi con saggio amor!
    Difendiamo il serto avito
Che gli adorna il regio crin
    Sempre d'Austria il soglio unito
    Sia d'Asburgo col destin.

    2. Pia difesa e forte insieme
    Siamo al dritto ed al dover;
    E corriam con lieta speme
    La battaglia a sostener!
    Rammentando le ferite
    Che di lauri ci coprir;
    Noi daremo beni e vite
    Alla patria, al nostro Sir.

    3. Dell'industria a' bei tesori
    Sia tutela il buon guerrier;
    Incruenti e miti allori
    Abbian l'arti ed il saper!
    Benedica il Cielo e renda
    Glorioso il patrio suol,
    E pacifico risplenda
    Sovra l'Austria ognora il sol!

    4. Siam concordi, In forze unite
    Del potere il nerbo sta;
    Alte imprese fian compite,
    Se concordia in noi sarà.
Siam fratelli, E un sol pensiero
    Ne congiunga e un solo cor;
    Duri eterno questo Impero,
    Salvi Iddio l'Imperator!

    5. Presso a Lui, sposa beata,
    Del Suo cor l'Eletta sta,
    Di quei vezzi inghirlandata,
    Che non temono l'età.
    Sulla Mite in trono assisa
Versi il Cielo ogni suo don:
    Salve Augusto, salve Elisa,
    E d'Asburgo la Magion!

    German lyric:

    1. Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze
    Unsern Kaiser, unser Land!
    Mächtig durch des Glaubens Stütze
Führ' er uns mit weiser Hand!
    Laßt uns seiner Väter Krone
    Schirmen wider jeden Feind:
    Innig bleibt mit Habsburgs Throne
    Österreichs Geschick vereint.

    2. Fromm und bieder, wahr und offen
    Laßt für Recht und Pflicht uns stehn;
Laßt, wenns gilt, mit frohem Hoffen
Mutvoll in den Kampf uns gehn!
    Eingedenk der Lorbeerreiser
Die das Heer so oft sich wand:
Gut und Blut für unsern Kaiser,
    Gut und Blut fürs Vaterland!

    3. Was des Bürgers Fleiß geschaffen
    Schütze treu des Kriegers Kraft;
    Mit des Geistes heitren Waffen
    Siege Kunst und Wissenschaft!
    Segen sei dem Land beschieden
    Und sein Ruhm dem Segen gleich;
    Gottes Sonne strahl' in Frieden
    Auf ein glücklich Österreich!

    4. Laßt uns fest zusammenhalten,
    In der Eintracht liegt die Macht;
    Mit vereinter Kräfte Walten
    Wird das Schwerste leicht vollbracht,
    Laßt uns Eins durch Brüderbande
    Gleichem Ziel entgegengehn!
Heil dem Kaiser, Heil dem Lande,
    Österreich wird ewig stehn!

    5. An des Kaisers Seite waltet,
Ihm verwandt durch Stamm und Sinn,
Reich an Reiz, der nie veraltet,
    Uns're holde Kaiserin.
Was als Glück zu höchst gepriesen
Ström' auf sie der Himmel aus:
    Heil Franz Josef, Heil Elisen,
    Segen Habsburgs ganzem Haus!

    6. Heil auch Öst'reichs Kaisersohne,
    Froher Zukunft Unterpfand,
    Seiner Eltern Freud' und Wonne,
    Rudolf tönt's im ganzen Land,
    Unsern Kronprinz Gott behüte,
    Segne und beglücke ihn,
    Von der ersten Jugendblüthe
    Bis in fernste Zeiten hin.

    English lyric:

    1. God save, God protect
    Our Emperor, Our Country!
Powerful through the support of the Faith,
He leads us with a wise hand!
Let the Crown of his Fathers
    shield us against any foe!
    Austria's Destiny remains
intimately united with the Habsburg throne!

    2. Pious and honest, true and open
    Let us stand for the right and duty;
Let, if and only if, with joyful hope
Go courageously in the fight to us
    Mindful of the bay sprigs
The army is often the case, the wall
Blood and Treasure for Our Emperor
Blood and Treasure for Our Country!

    3. the citizens diligently created
    may the emperor's power protect;
    With the cheery spirit weapons
    Victory Arts and Science!
    Blessed is the land allotted
    And his fame the same blessing;
    God's bright sun in peace
    On a happy Austria!

    4. Let us stand together firmly,
    In the unity is power;
    With the combined forces rule
    If the severity accomplished easily,
Let us band of brothers through one
    Go towards the same goal
Hail to the Emperor, healing the land,
    Austria will stand forever!

    5. At the Emperor's side prevails,
He related by common sense and,
Rich in charm that never outdated,
    Our gracious empress.
What luck to be praised as highly
Stream from the sky on them:
    Hail Franz Josef, Hail Elise,
Blessing to the entire House of Habsburg!

    6. Hail Emperor´s Son,
    Joyful future pledge,
    His parents' joy and gladness;
Rudolf's drowned out in the country,
    Crown God forbid our people,
    Bless him and gladden,
    From the first Youth bloom
    Up to the remotest times.

"Remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus,"or that virtue "was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice."
