Luckily I haven't experienced any breakups, I have a healthy marriage, however I find some country love/breakup songs to be quite an emotional experience. I feel sorry for people like Taylor Swift and people with failed marriages. An other example is "You Were Mine" by the Dixie Chicks.

Dixie Chicks - You Were Mine

I can't find a reason to let go
Even though you've found a new love
And she's what your dreams are made of
I can find a reason to hang on
What went wrong can be forgiven
Without you it ain't worth livin' alone

Sometimes I wake up crying at night
And sometimes I scream out your name
What right does she have to take you away
When for so long you were mine

I took out all the pictures of our wedding day
It was a time of love and laughter
    Happy ever after
But even those old pictures have begun to fade
Please tell me she's not real
And that you're really coming home to stay

Sometimes I wake up crying at night
And sometimes I scream out your name
What right does she have to take your heart away
When for so long you were mine

I can give you two good reasons
To show you love's not blind
He's two and she's four and you know
    They adore you
So how can I tell them you've changed your mind

Sometimes I wake up crying at night
And sometimes I scream out your name
What right does she have to take your heart away
When for so long you were mine
I remember when you were mine

BMI (the performance rights organization that monitors radio airplay and live performances for song writers and publishers in the US) listed this song as the third most popular between 1941-1991.

^ This has got to be the saddest breakup song ever. Dolly Parton's version (of the song SHE WROTE) is much better then the Whitney Houston cover.

Aside from an ever increasing number of mortals who have willfully chosen to worship Satan and his minions, our battle has always been against the powers and principalities operating surreptitiously throughout this twisted world.

Well, I think that these songs are good for this topic... not as break up songs (that doesn't sound good to me), but more like going on different paths in life... Sometimes it just happens to be like that...

I love Sissel and this is a nice song on this subject, not a sad song, but a more encouraging one to be strong. Not necessary my style of music, but I like the lyrics and the message:

I had a significant synchronicity with the following song, also about departures...

Also Lynyrd Skynyrd... sometimes you just have to fly away like a free bird... Sometimes the other one will follow you, sometimes not... That's life!
Die Farben duften frisch und grŁn... Lieblich haucht der Wind um mich.

Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

Absolutely! The Whitney Houston version is complete dross - it has no rhythm. Dolly should have sued her for ruining her beautiful song

On the other hand, Linda Ronstadt did a cover around the same time that was quite similar to DP's original and it's still my favourite version to this day; maybe because I heard it from her first
