A lot of students at oxford university where i am a student say that the germans are the best Soldiers in the World.
Do people at this forum think that they are, what evidence is their to back this up.
Hope to hear from you soon.

In 1946 did V. Stanley Moss a big research about soldiers in WWII. The result was:Originally Posted by angelaberry

- The most diciplined: Germans
In the end of the 50's the israelian armys militaryhistorical department did a
big international research about it too...
The questions were:
1. Which army do you consider the best?
2. Which soldiers had the best adaptabbility?
3. Which soldiers do you consider could take the best initiative?
4. Which soldiers were the most personally skilled?
5. Which soldiers were most combatskilled?
6. Which soldiers do you consider as the bravest?
7. Which soldiers were the most diciplined?
8. Which soldiers were best consider success and combat experience?
100 p was maximum
10 p were minimum
0 p didn't exist because no human are without courage, mentalability or energy.
The results:
The best soldiers during WWII:
- German army: 86 points
- French army: 65 p
- English army: 59 p
- Turkish army: 52 p
- American army: 49 p
- Russian army: 45 p
- Austrian/hungarian army: 37 p
- Italian army: 22 p
Best soldiers in WWII:
- German army: 93 p
- Japanese army: 86 p
- Soviet army: 83 p
- Finnish army: 79 p
- Polnish army: 71 p
- Brittish army: 62 p
- Northamerican army: 62 p
- French army: 24 p
- Italian army: 24 p
I guess the results speaks for it self.....

That of course was "once upon a time" and is not accurate for todays yankee-proxy army "Bundeswehr", which is as much as "diverse" as the old Soviet or todays Yankee Army is. It's not even "German".
Well, that's true...Originally Posted by Dr. Brandt

The germans were the Best soldiers in the world until 1945, the roman lost a great battle to german tribes at Varsus?, where they lost their standard golden eagles, so their military prowess goes back a long way.
I think the germans have been the best soldiers from about 1850-1945.
The Superior quality of German soldiers much be attributed to the Superior genetic stock they come from.
Germans have always made good warriors.
Yes its true, certain races excell at certain thing and the germans make the best warriors (and cars)Originally Posted by Nordish
Its a stretch to even call the Bundeswehr an army. It is more like a police force, or better yet, an auxillary force. That of course was "once upon a time" and is not accurate for todays yankee-proxy army "Bundeswehr", which is as much as "diverse" as the old Soviet or todays Yankee Army is. I think that during the first and second world wars the Germans could perhaps be called the "best" soldiers, but I think the French and English have proven in their histories to be far more warlike/superior in warfare than those we call the Germans today.think the germans have been the best soldiers from about 1850-1945.
Sadly, this thread was ill-conceived from the get-go with no specific parameters set in connection to time, place and specific 'folk group.' There have been 'German' soldiers in the world from antiquity to the present who have been in so many wars that it would probably take hours just to compile a complete (if possible) list of them. Here's but ONE! example from the 18th century of 'German' soldiers in war:Originally Posted by angelaberry
There are probably few on this site who realize that German soldiers fought in substantial numbers on both sides in the so-called 'American Revolution' and were of both the 'American-born' and 'European-born' varieties. The quality/talent of these soldiers in that war varied widely...some were the creme of the crop in their respective units, others were some of the most pitiful soliders on earth. The "Hessian" units (typically) of the then "British Army" (under King George III) were one example of 'poor' soldiering; but one would expect this since their hearts really weren't in the fight too much...those Germans who fought for the 'Revolutionary' side generally and more often than not fought with intensity and great effectiveness against the British Army since they typically felt little connection to the British Empire or the British Crown. This is but one of the age old topic of 'German' soldiering/soldiery.
I could easily comment on other German soldiers in other wars...but won't, although, maybe I will again, sometime...stay tuned!!
@Guest/M. GOOD POST MY DEAR!!!!! I enjoyed that one VERY MUCH! **HUGS!!**
