Yeah of course they can. Stupid question. But there are oversexed idiots out there who would probably disagree. Control your stupid hormones people. So sick of that crap. Too many Harvey Weinsteins in this world. Throw them in the nearest dumpster and the world would be a much better place. Good riddance to people like that.

How's this a stupid question? And what would you propose, some sort of asexual utopia instead? Hormones are a normal thing, it's what contributes to the survival of humanity, ya know. And another thing, nobody spoke of stuff like rape and forcing yourself on other folks. Cmon.

It's possible as long as boundaries are clear. When you're in a relationship, however, your partner must be your first and best friend. Spending more time with a friend of the opposite sex is unacceptable and can lead to jealousy and problems in the relationship. Except for rare cases when you know each other from the sandbox and feel like brother and sister, to the point where a romantic/sexual relationship would be similar to incest to your mind. But that's rare and there are also exceptions. My husband was like a brother to me for long, but when we got older we felt romantic feelings towards each other. That happens. In general, you should respect and put your partner first and definitely not have any friendships which could bother them.

I selected "other". Other posters have already touched on some important points, such as boundaries and relationship status, and I personally think the potential for heartbreak is too high. I am a member of an orthodox Catholic organization, and my spiritual director and confessor (and indeed the entire organization) discourage very close male-female friendships because it is considered spiritually unwise.

Someone with strong opinions on this subject is Andrew Tate - I thought this video was pretty hilarious. He's rather smart for a kickbox champ, I enjoy most of his other videos as well, but this was one was mainly just funny.

Tate doesn't believe in friendship between men and women in the first place because "girls can't fight. Women aren't combat ready. They make you combat ineffective."

The man is a walking testosterone bomb and the left hates him because he's politically incorrect.
