Thumbs Up I'm Pulling For The Germanic Countries

You beat me to 'the thread' honey-child! Actually, if I'm not mistaken (I heard this on the radio here yesterday), certain of the competitions commenced before the Opening Ceremonies themselves/itself, since they have a massive amount of things to do in "x" number of weeks in these Olympic(s) functions.

I did indeed watch the Openin Ceremomies myself last night via N. B. C. (America's National Broadcasting Company, one of the "Big Four," mainstream networks here) herein Dixie, although 'twas a recorded version rather than a live version if I'm not mistaken. There was a time back in my younger days that I might now bother watching them, but over 20 years now I've been watching both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies almost 'religiously' Olympics by Olympics.

As for the events themselves, quite often I've had an 'attitude' wherein I'll say and think beforehand that I don't care and have no interest, but quite often I'll end up being 'sucked in' and watch them anyway. I prefer the Winter Olympics over the Summer Olympics (for one thing, the former function is far more Germanic and Europid/White than the latter).

My primary interest in the 'Parades' themselves is so I can behold what all of the the different 'nations' and their teams/individuals look like, so let's just say that I check them all out for physical-anthropological and aesthetic/beauty reasons (esp. with the gals ); and I make it a point to make sure I 'review' all of the Germanic ones, as I did this time around too. The Swedish group this year really rubbed me the wrong way with the apparent Muslim woman carrying Sweden's flag; I mean, come on, give me/us a <bad word> break. Who the hell decided that?, the Swedish Olympic 'team'/group itself or some other element/group? It's my understanding that most Olympic 'teams'/groups select their flag-bearers themselves; although, this time around there was at least one exception to this when either Columbia or Venezuela selected their flag-bearer by national/country popular-vote rather than their Olympians themselves doing that (and they 'elected' a Negress, which left me scratching my head given these countries and peoples...not that I care, but I think that really does 'say something' about the 'racial conditions' even on a global basis).

Anyhow, I shall be watching and taking an interest in a certain % of these Rio Olympic events this time around and may interact with several of you herein as they transpire.

The Olympic Games in South America is a bad event for us Europeans - almost all important decisions take place in deep night, like 2 or 3am. So I won´t watch many competitions.

Winter Games are more interesting, anyway. Almost no Non-Whites.

I get no satisfaction from watching drugs cheats. They defraud viewers and steal glory from honest athletes, who, even if the cheats are caught, will receive their medal in the post, rather than on the olympic stage.

Sometimes it is hard to watch Olympic coverage here depending on which broadcasting outfit is doing it. Normally, only one does it so either you watch what they present or nothing. This results sometimes in America at the Olympics rather than the Olympic Games. I really don't care which country wins, etc. The best participants in each event which interest me is what I am after and so sometimes this focus is omitted.

Thumbs Up Sarah Sjöström 'On Fire' In The Pool! ;)

I just witnessed Sarah Sjöström (Swedish swimmer, cf. here ...good looking young lady ) live! on TV (here, Dixie) set both a World and Olympic record(s) in the 100 m. Butterfly, but it was a semifinal, though, not for a medal in a final. She was the only Germanic girl in the pool/race, among 7 others, and only one, two, or three of the other girls were White/Europid. Not knowing completely who she'll be competing against for the gold, it would prolly be just fine by me if she wins it, although, she might be, e. g., going up against a Dane; anyway, hopefully I'll catch the final...would definitely watch it.

You mean shooting , I heard it reported also this afternoon hereon U. S. radio news...first gold medal won, and she beat out 2 COMMIE! China-women; so she's a WINNER! on MULTIPLE! counts! If her surname is any valid indication, she's Anglo-American, go figure. Maybe there's still some hope left for 'ANGLO!' (or GERMANIC!)-America with things like this happening. (:-\ Let's all sing it together folks!: "God Bless America!, land that I love..." <--chuckles-hahe.

Going on what you describe here, looks like British TV is handling the Olympics better than the US.

BBC1 and BBC4 are broadcasting the Olympics non-stop from 12PM UK time to the early hours of the morning. And online you can choose any sport to watch if it's not being broadcast on TV at that time.

I reccomend the BBC Rio website - much of the content is only avalible to those with IPs going to the UK but one can get around that with VPNs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/rio-2016

Yesterday British swimmer Adam Peaty beat his own world record:

Adam Peaty fired out a major warning to his Olympic rivals in Rio by breaking his own 100 metres breaststroke world record in the heats on Saturday.

The 21-year-old, hotly fancied to become Britain's first male Olympic champion in swimming since Adrian Moorhouse in 1988, came home in 57.55 seconds.

The time was 0.37secs faster than the record he set last year.

Later today Peaty will go for gold - unfortunately the time difference means this will happen at 3AM British time!
