Study: No Sex Difference in Intelligence?

Contradicting some other studies, a study of 15,000 Romanians finds no sex differences in IQ:

The authors investigate sex differences in mean scores and variance, in general and specific intelligence, based on raw data from the standardization samples of six cognitive ability measures adapted and normed in Romania. The results show that fewer than 10% of the possible comparisons exhibit sex differences; these differences have a random pattern and are not replicated across measures. The authors conclude that these Romanian data show no support for the sex differences in either mean values or variance of scores which were reported by other studies.

Or is there something different about Romania compared to other countries where an IQ difference has been found?

Someone once told me at least some aspects of IQ are sex-linked, presumably on X and Y chromosomes, but then this same source said a father's intelligence, or lack thereof, is more likely reflected in his daughter and the same for the mother and son. Anyone else heard anything like this?

Second, I am interested in Catterick's view on this subject since she is so deep into psychology and is perhaps the smartest person at Skadi.

Overall, IQ is more variable in males same as personality traits. Males also have more paraphilias. Compared to women.

So that would explain why there are more high achievers - in science, culture, politics, and so on - that are men, but also why more of society's failures, for instance in education, are male.

    ----

Here's another study, showing no sex differences in math but a female advantage in writing: https://www.researchgate.net/publica...nd_adolescents

A small advantage for men in maths and science, but men overrepresented among high achievers http://psycnet.apa.org/psycarticles/2014-48297-001

In a sample of Saudi students, no sex IQ difference: http://psycnet.apa.org/psycarticles/2014-32934-001

At an Egyptian university, men had a higher IQ by around 2.5 points, also more variable http://www.sciencedirect.com/science...91886916300915

A 2015 study by Lynn showed Chinese boys have on average an 3 point higher IQ than girls; also, male IQ is more variable
    http://www.sciencedirect.com/science...91886914006333

So some studies show no difference - while those studies showing a difference all seem to conclude men's IQs are higher on average by around 3 points, and men's IQs are more variable.

Presuming that those studies about differences in IQ between male and female use members of the same ethnic group that could explain why some tests do not show a difference while others do. The difference might be relatively small so depending on how the test(s) was done it might show a difference or not. Of course there is the possibility that the researches modified the outcomes to produce a more desired outcome.

And yes from what I have read the IQ-Bell curve of men is flatter then for women. Meaning we have both more geniuses as morons in our ranks then do women.
