It was a hard pick. I had a toss up between Switzerland and Norway, but I've gotten relatives in Norway so I'm biased.

Renee Zellweger is biased to both because of the same reason, I would surmise.

I don't live in a Germanic country today... as I drive around my fair city, I see advertising in Spanish, there must be like 4 or 5 Spanish radio stations here, bill boards, TV commercials, etc, in Spanish... nope, I do not live in a "Germanic Country".

That's Jesuit propaganda to get your acceptance of the Armada as a fait accompli.

Even if our state cultures differ and the mentalities that come along with it (spiritually we're still very alike otherwise). It's good you put Flanders and the Netherlands within the same category, otherwise my answer would have been very predictable indeed. One shouldn't underestimate the divide the Reformation and Counter-Reformation caused, though. Then again, greater divides exist within states that are never questioned and difference between Hollanders and Brabanders/Flemings were already there when we were under the same political union. We're still from the same ethnic group.
Otherwise I'd say we also share a bit with the German in our mentality, still different enough. Germans are politer and more rule-bent than the Dutch and also more thorough and correct. This is a stereotype, but likely a true one regardless.

Anyway, my vote would be Germany and not only because I understand the language. I'd probably would choose for the Rhineland as my preferred region, nothing too far from my regional mentality and culture (as they're very influenced by the culture of the Low Countries there or vice versa). Also, about North Germanic country, I still know not too much, but people often claim that Denmark is very alike to the Netherlands. I'm not too sure about that, but I guess they're an honourable mention too, even though I often notice I'm learning more often about Sweden whenever I'm curious about the Scandinavian cultures. I'm certainly not only about cultures that are extremely alike to mine (from a Germanic perspective).

My vote is still what it is. Germany.

Part of me thinks that it would be a fun adventure to live in Germany and improve my (nicht so gute) Deutsch skills but I don't think I'd want to live there permanently. Just make an extended visit for a few months.

Counting out the Nordic countries, I'd give the Dutchies a chance. I have yet to come across a Dutchman I didn't like, and I've met quite a few. We seem to work on the same frequencies, so to speak. No wonder why there was such a massive migration of Norwegians to the Netherlands in the 17th and 18th century. So much so, that the King imposed a law against Norwegians migrating to the continent.

I'd surely miss the fjords, mountains and forests, but at least I'll have good company and inexpensive beer. Not to mention sprinkles on my toast.
