    Generation Tumblr

Not having followed online political expression/communication in detail during the last few years, I decided to check my social media accounts in order to become up-to-date with the latest trends and developments. The discovery was somewhat shocking.

Considering social groups such as such as "gay pride" and "fat acceptance movement" leading the way, the emergence of new "social justice warriors" was not the surprise there. I was instead disconcerted by the nature and extent of this change, political correctness gone beyond mad. As unbelievable as it would have been to advocates back then, it did go as far and as cooky as one could imagine. While some accounts are indeed trolls, and others claim that their persona exists exclusively online, the subculture extends beyond the internet/Tumblr, the latter which had become the perfect safe heaven for their expression. The reason these subcultures are worrisome is not only the sedentary lifestyle some cause (because of the above mentioned online exclusivity) but the fact that some cases have ended up in suicide.

Discuss these trends and examples in this thread.

    Otherkin

Article: From Otherkin to Transethnicity: Your Field Guide to the Weird World of Tumblr Identity Politics

An otherkin is a being born into the wrong body. Not just with the wrong parts, but as the wrong species: people who identify as otherkin believe that they are a wolves, or elves, or really any kind of being, born into a human body. (Furries, who focus on anthropomorphic animals and are known for dressing up, aren't the same thing as otherkin, many of whom don't dress up or change their appearances at all.) A fictive is like an otherkin where the true, internal identity is a fictional character — deku scrubs are tiny creatures from The Legend of Zelda series of video games. Transethnicity is this same phenomenon applied to ethnicity.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalking_Cat

Stalking Cat (born Dennis Avner; August 27, 1958 - November 5, 2012) was an American man known for his extensive body modifications, which were intended to increase his resemblance to a tigress. For his 14 surgical procedures towards that goal, he held a world record for "most permanent transformations to look like an animal". The name "Stalking Cat" is a Native American name, given to him in childhood by a medicine man of his tribe. ... On November 5, 2012, he died alone in his garage in Tonopah. He was 54 years old. News of the death became public one week later. In an online post, BMEzine founder Shannon Larratt wrote that his death was a suicide.
Otherkin Are People Too; They Just Identify as Nonhuman

... John on Reddit, a 19-year-old from Knoxville, USA, known on the web as Noslavic. He introduced himself: "I am a red fox-kin who was, as we call, awakened about a year ago." He said that awakening felt, "at the very least, relieving," because "everything seemed to come together for me.

"I started getting odd dreams where I would change physically into a fox, and they were very realistic—honestly. And after a while, in real life, it felt quite real, like I actually had a tail, I actually had ears, I actually had paws.
Of the 11 online otherkin I got in touch with, only about three maintained that they were openly otherkin in real life. As Dragonkin Azurel explained, "My dragon persona lives strictly online. I believe myself to be entirely human, but online I like to stay as perfectly in character as I possibly can."
It would seem, from reading otherkin message boards, that a significant percentage of otherkin are also transgender, and there are many forums online arguing that if you support transgender rights, you ought to support the rights of otherkin.
Some otherkin actually have surgery to look more like their animal or creature, Feef tells me. "I do know some people that have done that, and yeah, it just doesn't look that amazing."

First off, these people give me the creeps

The video posted suggested that this has something to do with maturity levels in these people. Maybe a swift kick in the hind end and a big dose of reality would cure most of these cases.

However, I have met people at various reenactments that behave much in the same way. They develop these personas that are in the time frame of the reenactments they go to. Perhaps this is why I only go as a spectator to these events unless I'm there to demonstrate smithing skills, but I never act differently than I would normally any other day.

Maybe these people do these things for attention, maybe their mothers did not show them enough attention or too much attention. Whatever the case these people should be treated as freaks and outcast.

If they go as far as surgically altering their bodies, then we should open freak shows to mock them and let the world know how crazy they are.

I could write an entire book about Tumblr, the people who are there and their shenanigans.

Two years ago I talked to someone on Tumblr, what I thought was a national socialist girl who upheld traditional values. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, her pictures stream was quite interesting. Until an Irish Facebook contact of mine explained to me she is actually a he, a transwoman, and told me she knew this person from way back, when she was still super lefty and against nationalism (hanging out with tradnatblr made this person become a nationalist herself) - and is married to a transman, that is to say: a woman who became a man. I saw their wedding pictures. So much for traditional values. There's nothing traditional about cutting off your genitals and marrying an f to m transgender, is there?

I feel a little bad for this nationalist tranny though. And to me it makes sense that trannies would prefer traditional gender roles, what's the point in mascarading as another gender if you're going to be hyper liberated? Of course they desire to be stereotypes if they're not completely nuts, and this transwoman wasn't a fool even though her life choices are very questionable indeed. Sigh.

In favor of Tumblr I'll say this: the admins do take free speech seriously, on the other hand I think they're just understaffed and lazy and can't be bothered to intervene anyway, even when they have to and lives are at stake.

    lol!

But this cat stuff has more to do with Japanese anime fandom, there's a huge cat (='Neko' in Japanese) thing going on. Fucking Weeabos!

I don't know how people have time for all of this btw. I'm one of their generation but how shall I handle normal Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, etc. and live a normal life in reality, with my job and private life!?? A day has just 24 hours.

Unbelievable. Time runs too fast for some crap.

    Transethnicity

    http://fusion.net/story/149825/rache...ransethnicity/
By now you, like the rest of the internet, have been introduced to Rachel Dolezal, the 37-year-old white woman from Spokane, Wash. who has apparently been openly identifying as black despite having no black ancestry. Dolezal became internet infamous yesterday when an interview she gave to local ABC affiliate KXLY was posted to YouTube.
    Raw interview with Rachel Dolezal

...Spokane police files on Dolezal’s report that she received a hate mail package... Police records say the initial package Dolezal reported receiving did not bear a date stamp or bar code... Investigators interviewed postal workers, who said it was either very unlikely or impossible that the package could have been processed through the post office, and that the only other alternative was that it had been put there by someone with a key...

Dolezal said she received a key to the post office box when she became president of the NAACP earlier this year. Asked about the possibility that she had put the package there herself, she said, “That’s such bullshit. What mother would terrorize her own children?”
Neumaier said he was suspicious of several incidents Dolezal reported in Coeur d’Alene, including her discovery of a swastika on the door of the Human Rights Education Institute when the organization’s security camera was “mysteriously turned off.”

“None of them passed the smell test,” he said.

... “In all of these incidents (she reported in Coeur d’Alene), she was the sole witness to events that, when put under scrutiny, don’t hold up,” he said.

I got banned from Tumblr for "hate speech" in 2011!

I used it to interact with enemies from time to time, so one of them probably reported me. It must be harder for the admins to moderate now, with a bigger userbase and far more right-leaning bloggers than five years ago. If they want to moderate that site, they should start by cutting down on the ridiculous amount of pornography hosted on their servers.

As a platform, it is not bad. It is much better for informal posting and multimedia than sites like Blogger and Wordpress, which is useful when you want to share music and videos. I stopped using it because there is too much emphasis on images in most blogs, and I prefer text-based sites. Also, most of the people worth a damn migrated to FB. More than that, I figure Nietzsche might have been imparting real wisdom when he warned against publicly expressing worldviews which are not fully formed, or haven't been subjected to enough real scrutiny by the beholder: "how fortunate we are, we seekers after knowledge, provided only that we do not break our silence prematurely!"

I wish I had taken that advice sooner. Five years from now, there will be so many people on Tumblr thinking back to their posts on that website and cringing over their arrogant righteousness. I certainly find myself cringing at some of the rubbish I have written online.

Before Tumblr allowed Google to access its porn search hits, the website was a quiet backwater in cyberspace, utterly irrelevant. Tumblr only became (in)famous because more people became aware of it when looking for porn on the interwebs.

What strikes me as funny but also as very telling indeed is the standard first reaction of complete outsiders to Tumblr or cringe complilation videos/vines, centrists and rightwingers, people who have no experience whatsoever with the loony left & Tumblr except for what they see on television or read in the paper at any rate. They all wonder whether they're confronted with parodies and trolls. Let me tell you: that rarely is the case. There are parodies, obvious ones and less obvious ones, but they're a tiny minority.

Such statements may strike you as absurd, but I read them every single day. When it comes to homosexuality SJWs are the vanguard. They're not stuck in the nineties, when tolerance of homosexuality sufficed. Nor do they merely approve of it, as was the case in the 2000s. And neither do they simply celebrate homosexuality, as we see happening in the mainstream media today. No, they actively encourage it. It's all part of the struggle against 'white male cishet patriarchy'. And 'capitalism'.

Maybe that's why SJWs subconsiously need hundreds of different gender identities and sexual preferences (which all derived from homosexuality): to make heterosexuality look less special, just a choice (!) and a boring one at that.

No doubt many of these (mostly young) people will snap out of it eventually, but a great many of them will then go on to become the progressives, centrists and rightwingers of their generation, more permissive than the generations that came before them. Other will rebel, hopefully there will be a lot of those too. They may learn to love power structures and hate feminism.

I've played some of the Tumblr "cringe complilations" to my brother. He is not a nationalist (unfortunately), and his knowledge of politics is rudimentary at best, but even he impulsively despises these people. The biggest problem they face is that their worldview has can only be adopted by people who've first been subjected to extensive propaganda and manipulation. Perhaps that is why the Labour government in Britain wanted to get 50% (!) of high school students into university - but I still favour the more cynical explanation that they wanted them in education so they wouldn't make the unemployment statistics look as bad as they were. It's not a huge problem while these idiots control the media, but as soon as their grip starts to loosen, they will be in trouble. That's one of the reasons why they hate free speech on the internet so much.

When I first moved to the right, it was the easiest thing in the world, because there was no need for grand social theories to explain everything. The only thing required was to lift the curtains and see reality as it is, instead of being held down by weird left-wing filters.
