Post What Is Your Hair Color?

Can anyone post up some pictures of different hair colours they consider to be light blonde dark blonde light brown ect? Im a bit confused as people with 'dark blonde' sometimes seem to actually have darker hair than someone with 'light brown' So is blondism to do with colour tone, not just depth? Also does anyone have any pics of Hallstats and East Baltics with natural hair so I can see the difference?

Ok when I say dark blonde I am often referring to just lighter than light brown. Dark blonde still has that golden cast to it that light brown lacks. I have seen people with hair that is basically light brown at the roots, but lighter and more golden towards the tips. I still refer to them as dark blonde. I don't consider any 'dark blondes' to be darker than 'light brunettes'. It's hard to give famous examples, because celebrities change their hair color so frequently. I guess, though, that I would say Michelle Pfeiffer and Jennifer Aniston, for example, are dark blondes, as opposed to, say, Laetitia Casta, who has light brown hair. Claudia Schiffer is a medium blonde, I would say; a lot of Scandinavian starlets are light blonde (Victoria Silvstedt, Frida Utter, etc.). The standards also vary for the sexes, since men tend to be darker. I would say that I am a medium blonde by female standards, but a light blonde by male standards, for example.

That is true, a woman who has the same hair colour as a man who is 'dark blonde' is often not described as a blonde. I think this is because women dye their hair more than men do - women who are naturally dark blonde often go light blonde

It would be nice if someone created a standardized hair pigmentation scale similar to what we are doing here, and then published statistics for each Nordish subtype, and for each nation in Europe (as well as America and Canada), to give us an idea of who is the blondest I have no idea how we would get around women (and men for that matter) who dye their hair, though.... why can't people just stick with the pigmentation Nature intended : ?

A lot of people don't like their hair color. Mostly for the reasons that they think it's too dark, and that blondes are much more attractive.

Yeah, the women lightening their hair thing has gone on for millenia, even in ancient Egypt. I guess I am just frustrated that any old Mediterranean thinks that a trip to the salon will make them Nordic!!!x_nono

Thanks NP88. I'm medium blonde! Yeah i hate it when dark people dye their hair blonde. This asian I know dyed her hair blonde and got blue contact lenses - sick! I have tried dying my hair both darker and lighter and both looked gross, so im back to my natural colour now - took all year to grow back

My hair is dark brown, however I have been told that two of my great-grandparents had reddish hair: My great-grandfather had bright red hair and my great-grandmother had strawberry-blonde hair. For now the redhead gene is recessive in me, but that could change when the next generation of my offspring comes.
