    Genetically Modified Babies

Genetically engineering 'ethical' babies is a moral obligation, says Oxford professor
Genetically screening our offspring to make them better people is just 'responsible parenting', claims an eminent Oxford academic.
Professor Julian Savulescu said that creating so-called designer babies could be considered a "moral obligation" as it makes them grow up into "ethically better children".

The expert in practical ethics said that we should actively give parents the choice to screen out personality flaws in their children as it meant they were then less likely to "harm themselves and others".
He said that science is increasingly discovering that genes have a significant influence on personality – with certain genetic markers in embryo suggesting future characteristics.

By screening in and screening out certain genes in the embryos, it should be possible to influence how a child turns out.

In the end, he said that "rational design" would help lead to a better, more intelligent and less violent society in the future.
"So where genetic selection aims to bring out a trait that clearly benefits an individual and society."

Uh, so selecting a healthy mate to make superior offspring is 'unethical' and 'evil-nazzi', but messing with DNA and making mutant babies is 'ethical'?

Well, what about the almighty environment? Have the egalitarians begun to realize that social engineering may not be enough to create Utopia, so we should perhaps consider moving on to genetic engineering instead, in order to create the utopian liberal order where everyone are happy and equal and without certain nasty evolutionary characteristics?
Good luck... What about just accepting human nature without trying to manipulate it?

Well, although this technology may be used in stupid ways, I think it is good that we see that the scientific consensus gradually comes closer to admitting how our characters and capabilities largely are defined by our genetics. That means that we are NOT born equal, like blank slates. Sooner or later one will also have to admit such biological differences between different human populations.
"Man evolved in cooperating groups united by common cultural and genetic ties, and it is only in such a setting that the individual can feel truly free, and truly protected. Men cannot live happily alone and without values or any sense of identity…" - Alain de Benoist

I think you misunderstood. The article is about personality flaws and diseases, not physical appearance.

Furthermore, I doubt your suggestion would be feasible in the first place, not with today's means. IMO, it would still be Black even with an "Aryan / White" appearance. You cannot turn dirt into gold and I think true Germanic genes are what we care about here, not silly, superficial White looks.

Chinese scientist claims to have created ‘world’s first genetically edited babies’

Chinese scientist claims to have created 'world's first genetically edited babies'
A Chinese researcher claims he helped make the world’s first genetically edited babies – twin girls whose DNA he said he altered with a powerful new tool capable of rewriting the very blueprint of life.
If true, it would be a profound leap of science and ethics.
A US scientist said he took part in the work in China, but this kind of gene editing is banned in the United States because the DNA changes can pass to future generations and it risks harming other genes.
Many mainstream scientists think it’s too unsafe to try, and some denounced the Chinese report as human experimentation.
The researcher, He Jiankui of Shenzhen, said he altered embryos for seven couples during fertility treatments, with one pregnancy resulting thus far. He said his goal was not to cure or prevent an inherited disease, but to try to bestow a trait that few people naturally have – an ability to resist possible future infection with HIV, the Aids virus.

Genetically Modified Babies – The Genetic Editing of Human Life is “Big Business”

“Genetically modified humans” sounds like a term that belongs in Hollywood, but it’s actually a very real possibility, and one that’s being heavily discussed in the scientific community. Contributing to one of the most controversial topics to date, not long ago, a panel of science experts in the U.S. just examined and gave their support for germline editing. This means that in the future, parents will likely be able to tamper with the genetics of their children pre-birth. Germinal choice technology refers to reprogenetic technologies that enable parents to alter the genetic constitutions of their children. One of the ways this can be done is through germline editing, which is a fancier term for human genetic engineering. Germline editing alters the genes of a sperm or an egg, but it then changes the future DNA of every single cell in the embryo. This means that the genetic changes made to the embryos will then affect all future generations within that family lineage.

The panels were made up of experts from two of the most prestigious scientific institutions in the U.S., both of which recommended that germline editing be viewed as a serious option in the future and not be prohibited outright (source).

This is a dramatically different stance than the last assessment given in December 2015 by an international summit of scientists, who stated that it would be “irresponsible to proceed” with germline editing given the controversy surrounding the subject and the safety issues involved, all of which have yet to be resolved.

The panels’ discussions can be further analyzed in a report released earlier this week by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine. The panel recommended that germline editing of early embryos, eggs, or sperm should only be permitted to prevent serious disease or disability if there’s significant scientific evidence illustrating that the procedures are safe.

You can read more about that story here.

For now, I wanted to point you to a piece written by Canadian economist, author, and professor emeritus of economics at the University of Ottawa and the president and director of the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG), Michel Chossudovsky, where this post originally appeared.

Last November, He Jiankui, a Chinese biology professor at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Shenzhen (Guangdong Province) announced that he and his team had createdthe World’s first “genetically edited babies”: twin babies Lula and Nana.

Dr. He Jiankui, used the CRISPR technology “to alter the embryos of seven couples [allegedly] to make them resistant to HIV”. He Jiankui made his announcement at the Second International Summit on Human Genome Editing held at the University of Hong Kong.

Dr. He claims to have used CRISP “to tweak the DNA of human embryos during in vitro fertilization”.

The broad implications of this experiment are far-reaching. The genetic editing of human life forms including embryos has a bearing on the future of humanity.

It opens up the pandora’s box of genetic engineering applied to human beings.

It undermines the “reproduction of real life”. Potentially, it destroys humanity.

Has anyone seen any solid proof that Dr. He actually achieved the things he's claiming?

I ask because biotech's history is filled with stories of scientists who made startling claims and then never offered any tangible evidence (in the 90s there were well known scientists claiming to extract DNA that was millions of years old, there have been claims from South Korea of mammoth embryos, etc.). This is especially common in China where providing the nation with bragging rights is considered part of a scientist's job.

Many non white races envy and place high value on pale skin. Wouldn't it be amusing if these people started to opt for lighter coloured skin babies? Just appeals to my sense of humour and I know it would devastate the SJW set.
I grew up on a belief of honour, courage and the old world values. The world isn't about that anymore, preferring to die a slow death of fast food and cheap thrills.
