    Orthodoxy in the Third Reich

    Another interesting lecture by Prof. Dr. Matt Johnson :

    Orthodoxy in the Third Reich

    Matt Johnson discusses:

    The metropolitans Dionysius (Dionizy Waledyński) of Warsaw and Seraphim Lade of Berlin;
    Seraphim, Hitler and the NS Movement;
    Dionysius and Ukrainian nationalism;
    Dionysius and Seraphim as allies.

    While initially only a small minority (mostly pro-Czarist Russian exile community), the number of Orthodox Christians in Germany exploded from 1941 on over the war---due to the presence of 100.000s of Ostarbeiters, Cossacks , "White Russian Army" (aka anti-Bolshevik aka based on Admiral Koltschak tradition) and their direct families , plus millions of POWs and so forth. I'm suggesting that as "unintended consequence" of Operation Barbarossa the numbers of Slavic (those by force and those voluntary) residents and adherents of the Orthodox Church exploded in Greater Germany, to a degree that the "Nazi News Bulletin" aka Deutsche Wochenschau and Europawoche were produced also in the Russian language, which is the High Language in Eastern Europe, Ukraine. Thus whether Cossacks, Ukrainians, Kalmucks, Chechen etc...they all understood Russian.

    This adds to the fact that the Orthodox Church was the most important institution and strategic partner of the Axis against Bolshevism/Stalinism. To understand that , one has to know that in the USSSR of pre-1941 the Church could only exist underground as the Bolsheviks had closed the Church and confiscated the Church buildings into states-property (but also the Mosques of Southern Russia , Central-Asia). Just the Synagogues were exempted. The longer the war lasted, the more important were good relations to the Orthodox Church for the Third Reich, because it was it's most important recruitment tool for Eastern volunteers, driven by fear of Bolshevism.

    I happened to realize that therefor most Russian language NS propaganda starts with something related to the Orthodox Church. Such as in this example.

    Russian language:

    Same material in German language:

    ROA (Russian Liberation Army) General Vlassov shown during service in an Orthodox Church, then gathering with Dr.Goebbels.
    Those whoever asked themselves whys there is such a thing as "Russian Nazis" may find partly an answer here, beside the fact that this is not revealed to English *only* speaking people due to firm media control by you know who. They get fed a rather bizarre mythology about WW2.
