Well, I have the train of thought to change a chronically clumsy habit of me that I show ever since I joined Skadi and started writing English texts: My "wrong" usage of ´ instead of proper '. I use it because I can write more fluent with my ´ and without the need to press the shift-button on my German keyboard before I press the #'-key.

A few people have told me that my texts look a little bit awkward when I use the wrong ´ even if it´s easier and faster for me to type it. I´m accustomed to it after all the years.

Is there really such a big difference between " I don´t " and " I don't "? Do you think the former looks bad?

If I should decide to work on my wrong habit then I need your help: Please hint me to all my wrong usages of my old ´ in my posts from now on. It could be a hard transition period for me.

So should I give it a try? No more ´? Maybe I should stick a note on the frame of my monitor so that I don't(!!!) forget it!

    " I don´t " looks better than " I don't ". But the keyboards here don´t have a key for "´". We´d have to remember the Alt+ code.

I think the English speaking world should give you a break & they have to much time on their hands. I don't see nothing wrong with your posts in English. If I never knew you were German,I would swear you were born in Britain. That's how great your English is.

What makes me happy is when people treat me with respect and kindness for whom I am as a person.

My thought of the day is a question that I often ask myself:

Why do all the school buses in the USA look the same? Regardless of the movie or TV series I watch, all US American school buses in all American states seem to look the same, like the following example:

So is it really true that US schools use the same (seemingly) yellow old model of a bus for school transport? And if "Yes": Why? Or is it just a stereotype used in movies and TV series?

Because in Germany, school buses come in modern forms.

It's true, at least where I live and have seen elsewhere, the standard yellow bus is the main transport for school systems nationwide. As for sports teams or other special clubs, sometimes they get more modern buses when they're travelling across the states (more comfortable seats).

Hmmm, that's something I've never really taken into consideration.
Probably because the US schooling system is such a failure, to upgrade the transport system would cost a fortune. Or it could just be for old time's sake.

That's a good question... never really thought too much about it. But I think the reason they have kept this same look is for safety... everyone knows immediately that this big yellow thing is a school bus and that when the red lights start to flash, you must stop.

Most of them do have a bit of an outdated look, that's for sure. A few of the newer ones look more modern though:

Most people think as they are trained to think, and most people make a majority.
