    International Germanic Partnerships

After a week long odyssey I am right now enjoying my first A&W cream soda in years ! Now what does that have to do with the title of this thread ? Well, i love certain american foods, that are hard to come by here in germany, especially root beer. If you are lucky you find one at a gas station FOR NEARLY 3 BUCKS, and then only A&W, you don´t find Mug anywhere, let alone less known brands !

I am sure it is the same with german stuff in other countries. So i got the idea that we partner up ! We owe it to our poor kin in other countries to help them get germanic stuff : books, food, clothes etc.etc.etc. In return we could get some specialties from other countries, but the main idea is to help germanic people all over the world to get a piece of home.

Especially if you are abroad for a while, say study for a year in china or whatever, you might get homesick. Having then a cool beer from your hometown or whatever can really help ! It is also great for example for south americans with german ancestry to learn about the country where their roots are.

So my idea is that here in this thread people can get into contact with each other. You just write a short post in which you tell others where you are from and what you want/what you can offer (either in return or whatever). How we work that with the money people can figure out among themselves. We have pay pal, we have prepaid credit cards, where you just need to exchange the number, you can send packets per cash on delivery, there are enough ways to do that nowadays.

I would love it if people see this as more then just a way to order german food in the usa, but a way to get to know each other across the globe. To learn about the country where your ancestors came from. I mean we are here because we love germanic culture ! So why not bring people closer together ? I would love for example to help swabians from all over the world to learn about their old home where I live now. I would also love to get to know someone from the faroese islands, cause I remember so little since i left when i was so small.
Of course I also would love to send people all kinds of foods, german books, postcards from my hometown and neighboring communities etc.etc. and tell them about what my hometown has to offer, for example a big theatre on the church stairs. The stairs itself are the stage, and the place before it is the market place there you sit, which makes for a fantastic view. All that in front of middle age style buildings (even the old pillory still exists, since it was made from stone).

Now i hope others would like to take part in this and make this a more personal way to conncect or reconnect with the culture we all love, the germanic culture !
There won't be humans in 500 years. Enough people choke themselves when they jerk off we gave it a name. We ain't a species made to last.

Judging by it´s name common sense must once have been a pretty common thing. When and why did that change, so it became the rare treasure it is today???

You know, if you're serious about implementing this idea you could probably suggest something along those lines to the Goethe Institute. It fits into their mission statement. They are established world wide and have government funding.

Truth be told, I'm afraid that not a single public organization who's accepted by society and political class like the Goethe Institute would apply a pro-Germanic stance. A conception completively unknown to them. If at all, they'd forward you to law enforcement.

Why? He didn't suggest exporting swastikas and Third Reich literature, he suggested every day German stuff. The institute does that already to a degree. Especially in terms of language teaching, and German literature, and promoting a positive view of Germany.

What a senseless loss of energy at the expense of the earth. how you want to transport the foods? By DHL air mail? Use regional products.

I didnt mean to visit each other (though that is also a possibility of course) i meant swap items or send them against money.
A good example is german beer, it is famous worldwide, but you cant really get beer from small breweries outside germany, and usually they don´t deliver via post. So if someone here wants to test our local beer we exchange a few mails to see what you want, and i send it to you.

About the beer : we have a fantastic local brewery that still brews a wide variety of typical german beer. They have like 20-25 different beers, some of which are seasonal (easter beer, christmas beer, bock/doppelbock etc.) and other´s can be bought all year. So if anybody is interested, just tell me.

Or how about when someone wants to learn a germanic language and need films or books in that language ? There are so many ways in which the members here could help each other to learn more about the germanic culture. How about teaching each others recipes from our region ? I know many typical swabian recipes and would love to teach them to people ! ROSTBRATEN MIT SPÄTZLE , GSCHMÄLZTE MAULTASCHEN; LINSEN MIT SPÄTZLE , Gaisburger Marsch , HOCHZEITSSUPPE MIT GIRESKLÖSSCHEN UND MARKKLÖSSCHEN, Wurstsalat (a salad made from sausages) etc.etc.etc.

So for what do we need an institute ? We have the forum to get into contact with each other ! If we see it is a big success we could perhaps export the idea to to other forums, but i would like to start here. Here the people have a certain niveau, I dont want to exchange with stormfront simpletons ^^

I thought they mainly did that in the context of going to Africa and telling Africans how wonderful Germany is and teaching them German so they could move there.
Most people think as they are trained to think, and most people make a majority.

They are active everywhere, I'm sure they are in Africa too. Immigration is not something they work with as far as I can tell though. I guess teaching them German might give them reason to come though.
