Where to Find Quality European Toys?

I'm a Canadian and here it can be hard to find quality toys not made by some junk company in China.

At the moment, I am playing it safe and restricting my three year old's toys to wooden toys that I am able to find, but I'd really like to know of some good European toy makers that perhaps any Skadi members can recommend.

I'd prefer for it to be actually made by someone in Germany, Sweden etc, rather than overseas.

    Thanks!

I don't know about Canada, but here quality toys (usually European) can be found in specialty toy shops. Like boutique stores. You can also try online.

I know here that stores that sell teaching supplies tend to have quality toys that are often from Europe. The chain of stores here is called the Learning Palace.
    Proud to be Germanic.

Even though my ancestry is English, Germany is my favorite country.

Lego is Danish, but probably produced in China these days.

Be careful with plastics, a lot of them have hormone inhibitors ("hormonhemmere").

I bet you can find a lot of nice toys on etsy.

Antiques toys from 1900 made by Germany,Sweden and Britain. I watch bargain Hunt, Flog It' etc... look in Antiques stores specialty for toys, your country will have these stores.

And the best option (pretty sure others had mention this) try the Internet and look up for modern toy European makers.

At a guess - there must be Steiner schools operating in Canada, and if they operate in any way similar to here, they may well have small shopfronts stocking hand-made wooden toys, dolls, as well as loads of books.

As you'd expect, they're in Sydney and Melbourne, but there is actually a small one here in Hobart - and if we've got one, surely no place is too small or too far out of the way by comparison.
