Scientists Predict Time Will Stop Completely

In a startling new theory, scientists have predicted that the passage of time will stop altogether.

The theory is based on research conducted at two Spanish Universities aimed at explaining why the expansion of the universe appears to be accelerating, a conundrum that has puzzled scientists for years. What they came up with was the notion that the expansion of the universe isn't accelerating at all; instead time itself is slowing down at an imperceptible rate and that eventually it will stop entirely, resulting in a perpetual static snapshot for the rest of eternity.

"We believe that time emerged during the Big Bang and if time can emerge, may disappear as well as the opposite effect," said cosmologist Gary Gibbons.

Wow, that is quite interesting. Assuming the so-called "Big Bang" left an enormous black hole at the center of the universe, much like a large star does when it supernovas, than eventually after the universe starts expanding it will then begin retracting back toward the singularity at the center of it all. When this happens I wonder if time will start moving backwards? Perhaps we will all live our lives in reverse someday, lol

    time-4th dimension

that is the most ridiculous thing ever! If we accept modern physics we know that time is the fourth dimension, but we cannot perceive the sbstance of time, we understand only some of its effects....our time -the human- is not the time of the clock. time slows down when we approach the speed of light, and we know now there are particles moving faster than the speed of light. In CERN we've measured them. we know they are there.
also universe seems to be expanding, or at least this is our perception! we perceive the universe with our sences that are inaccurate and we tend to think what we see is truth. But what we see, hear, feel is NOT true. It is our perception of truth. example. since 100 years we measure radio-waves, but radio waves were there from the beggining of kosmos, regardless of us measuring them or not...

ok just think when you read, think on your own!

I can't wait! Time coming to a complete halt "for the rest of eternity". Surely that is something to look forward to: think of the money we'll save. Megabucks!

Actually, CERN published a retraction. It was a measuring error. There is still the possibility that particles can travel faster than the speed of light - we just haven't seen it happen yet.

I agree, though, that I don't think time is simply "slowing down". A time-slow would not explain why the universe seems to be moving faster - if time slowed so would movement (it could move at the same rate/time - but if time went slower, so would the movement.)
