Euro 2012 Blog: Teams Honor Holocaust, Ignore Holodomor

Team after team arriving for the Euro 2012 championship is making a well-publicized point of visiting the Nazi extermination camp of Auschwitz. No teams, however, have indicated they plan to visit any memorials linked to the Holodomor – the devastating man-made famine that ended the lives of up to seven million Ukrainians in the 1930s – or even that they actually know what it is.

Hosts Poland and Ukraine have in recent weeks been criticized by foreign media as harboring a culture of vitriolic racism and anti-Semitism, sparking outrage and condemnation by many in the football community. Critics of the two countries often applauded the teams' decision to visit the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Euro 2012: Uefa Acknowledge 'Isolated' Racist Chants Directed at Black Holland Players During Training Session

Euro 2012: Uefa acknowledge 'isolated' racist chants directed at black Holland players during training session

Members of Bert van Marwijk's European Championship squad were subjected to monkey chants during an open training session on Wednesday, with captain Mark van Bommel yesterday branding the incident "a real disgrace".

Having initially been satisfied by the Dutch FA's belief that the abuse was not racially motivated, Uefa announced this morning they had been made aware of "isolated incidents of racist chanting".

‘Antifa Soccer Cup for Tolerance’ Ends In Brawl

‘Antifa Soccer Cup for Tolerance’ Abandoned After ‘Huge Brawl’ Between Refugee Teams

Germany’s annual ‘anti-racist’ soccer tournament had to be abandoned this year after violence broke out during the final, with players from the two refugee teams starting a massive brawl on the pitch.

Fighting between the two teams of immigrants, one of which local media reports was overwhelmingly Arab and the other predominantly African, resulted in the United Colours Antifa Street Soccer Cup in Zwickau having to be called off.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing violence erupt suddenly during the match after an argument between players from the ‘Red Tree’ team — the organisers behind which say they “fight Nazis” while seeking to make Zwickau “cosmopolitan, tolerant and courageous” — and from “Antifa soccer club” Marienthal United 08’s refugee squad.

As violence began to escalate on the market square where the game was staged, observers “rushed as fast as they could” to get away from the brawling players, a “horrified” eyewitness told left-wing Swiss tabloid Blick, which before the match featured an article promising that “fair play, fun, creativity, tolerance and solidarity” were sure to be on show at the event.

But the future of the tournament, now in its seventh year — which organisers say is a “major event” that shows Zwickau is “no place” for “racism and every type of discrimination” — is not up for debate, according to cup co-director René Hahn, who told journalists the incident is being dealt with.

Stating there were no serious injuries but that the behaviour seen on Saturday was unacceptable, he reported having had talks with players from the two teams in the final.

“With refugees who fled conflict areas, it is just that we are dealing with a very different temperament,” Hahn said, before stressing that violence on the pitch is not allowed — a rule which he said will be impressed upon players in upcoming discussions.

Zwickau native Bernhard Riedel, 68, who now lives in the Neukölln district of Berlin, one of the German capital’s most heavily migrant-populated suburbs, witnessed the brawl while visiting his hometown at the weekend.

“Living in Neukölln I’m used to seeing clashes break out on a daily basis, but I’ve never in my life seen anything like [what I saw] on Zwickau’s main market square Saturday,” he said, telling local media the violence was so brutal he had “feared for the players’ lives”.

Breitbart London has previously reported how Neukölln has seen increasing intolerance towards people who do not follow the Islamic faith in recent years including assaults on Christians, while teachers note that bullying along religious lines has become a problem in the district’s schools.

In 2016, Lebanese-born filmmaker Imad Karim — who had moved to Germany as a 19-year-old student around 40 years ago — lamented that the Neukölln of which he had such fond memories had transformed into a place which more resembles the Afghan capital of Kabul.

    Politicisation of Football

I'm finished with the Premier League after this season.

It used to be about football but now it's all about 'anti-racism'. What are they running here, an entertainment business or a political campaign?

Football lost its authenticity some time in the 90s. Possibly earlier in some countries.

What pushed you over the edge?
A nation is an organic thing, historically defined.
A wave of passionate energy which unites past, present and future generations

Well, Ţoreiđar, I can’t watch a game these days without the new “KICK IT OUT!” logo appearing on my screen and there are advertising boards at all grounds carrying the message “no room for racism - the game is for everyone”. Sometimes they even make an ‘anti-racism’ gesture of some kind before the game commences.

The whole season seems to have been dominated by ‘racist’ incidents. Here are 5 high-profile cases that have filled hundreds of pages of newspaper reports just over the past 5 months. I found them all on the BBC website but there are several more if you look further and no sooner does one finish than they find a new one to talk about so that the message is continuous and unrelenting

All those black 'victims' earning 200+ grand a week

Or, look at it another way ... 3.000 murdered White farmers in South Africa and Nigs on a stabbing frenzy across London but the BBC wants to focus on a banana skin thrown onto a football pitch!

There are several ten-thousands of visitors inside a football stadium ,
and just one curved item ...

But it is easier to focus on rare occasions , than to handle masses .

The Professional Football Association has now urged players to boycott social media for 24 hours.

Do they really think that we'll miss the comments of a few semi-literate footballers? They only make fools of themselves on these platforms and should be told to stay off them permanently!!!

One of the ringleaders of this initiative appears to be Troy Deeney, who has served time in prison for an unprovoked attack on a White student, who he kicked in the head ...

England prepared to walk off over racist abuse

Tammy Abraham says England are prepared to walk off the pitch if they are targeted by racist abuse in their Euro 2020 qualifiers this week.

England face the Czech Republic on Friday - then play Bulgaria on Monday in a partially-closed stadium because of fans' racist behaviour in June.

"If it happens to one of us, it happens to all of us," Abraham said.

"Harry Kane even said that if we're not happy, if a player is not happy, we all come off the pitch together."

Uefa ordered the partial closure of Bulgaria's national stadium following racist behaviour by their fans in Euro 2020 qualifying games against the Czech Republic and Kosovo in June.

In August, Bulgarian club sides PFC Levski Sofia and PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv were punished by Uefa for racism during Europa League games.

England manager Gareth Southgate said last month that he would talk to the players before next week's game, and Abraham says the players have decided they will take matters into their own hands if necessary.
