The unfortunate thing is that the German lineup this year is an improvement over previous years; of the 23, 19 are German (if you count the Silesian Podolski and half Spanish Gomez). From the matches yesterday, Denmark is remarkably homogenous, only fielding a token African. The Slavic teams have set the standard this time around.

As for the matches, I'm happy Germany won, but that was a serious underperformance. Germany commanded the match and had the best chances, but couldn't convert. I wonder if things would have been different had Klose started. As for Denmark v. Netherlands, that was unexpected... Van Persie was terrible.

I like it that Denmark could win against the Netherlands. Both are Germanic countries but I´m always for the underdog and they had more pure Germanic players on the field.

Well, I think we Germanics should show some honest support for our nearest brothers and sisters on the continent - the Celts from Ireland. Their team is all Celtic as far as I know.

Right now, they are 1:2 behind against Croatia. I hope they have a comeback in the 2nd half.

I wish that Denmark gets into the quarter finals in this group.

I'm totally upset with Germany. I was going to support them, but seems their team is full of Poles, Turks, mullatos and others sounding freaks.

Fond memories in 2008 when the great names were Ballack, Frings, Metzelder, Schneider, Lehnmann and co.

Netherlands is also horrible, a lot of Surinamese, Moroccan and Indo mongrels

Is it at all possible to have a discussion in this thread about football and not coughing up hatred mainly against our other europid bretheren. I could have some complaints againts negroes or arabs in the european teams but this is getting ridiculous to burping up shit against other europeans, even if they play in other national teams, when this thread is about EUROPEAN Cup. Please let us (who care about the sport) enjoy a beatiful game of football and share our comments on games. There's other great threads where you could discuss the huge differences between europids. Pleeez.

Anyway the two games today where both pretty good. I was surprised by the Italians playing so good with so many "new" players, but eventually Spain is a better team I think. The other game between Ireland and Croatia wasn't a suprise though I thought Ireland could make some magic when they scored.
I also think Ireland definitely deserved a penalty kick, but well the ref. probably dind't think the same....

Tomorrow is the D-day for Sweden

^This. Yes, it's unfortunate that so many non-natives are representing European countries, and no, none of us are happy about it. But, given that it's an unfortunate reality, let's not dwell on it and just enjoy the matches.

Italy v. Spain was a great match, and the Italians definitely defied expectations. Had the two not had such world-class keepers the score would have been much higher, and I think Spain made a big mistake by not starting with a striker. I didn't catch all of Croatia v. Ireland but I'm glad the Croats pulled off a win. They have a tendency to upset Italy so it'll make the next stages of the group interesting.

I can't wait for England v. France - there's little optimism but I think we can at least grab a point, and I'll happily take it.

The point is, if they're from other European countries, they should be playing in those squads. This is supposed to be a competition between national teams, I'll root for having a Spaniard in my team only when it comes to a Europe XI in a game against "Rest of the World" (as they used to have it).

Was I grateful at Ivica Vastic's late equaliser against Poland during the 2008 Euro? I sure was. Do I like the Croats? I actually do. Do I think a guy who doesn't even as much as speak our language properly after he's spent half of his life in my country and hails from another country anyway should represent it at national level? No way.

The other game between Ireland and Croatia wasn't a suprise though I thought Ireland could make some magic when they scored.

Yes, fortunes might have been quite different had they been handed their penalty kick. That definitely was one, though it remains to be debated whether it was really fair-play to not pass the ball out of play after the Croatian's injury. Still, it would have spiced up the game with a 2-3 and some half hour to go, Croatia might have been tricked into opening up in order to score another decisive goal, and Ireland might have had more space for an equaliser.

As is Podolski - despite his Polish-sounding surname. Both his grandparents on one side were Volksdeutsche as far as I am aware? Which gives him the same amount of German blood as Klose I believe?

As is Sebastian Boenisch by the way, he was, like Podolski, born into a German family in Gleiwitz that later moved to Germany. Whatever he's doing in the Poland squad I don't know. Then again, they have a couple of half-French folks who can't even speak proper Polish, so they communicate in English, lol.

I do try to enjoy them , but when we watched the Portugal match with friends, the best I could muster when they showed Özil's face was to take a full spoon of sarcasm and mention: "What an outstandingly Germanic face, almost like one of Hermann's fearsome men in Teutoburg forest".

And FFS, even the Czechs now have a Negro, I remember when we joked ahead of the 2006 World Cup that we were going to support them in their campaign because they were the closest we'd get to a Germanic team.

I can't wait for England v. France - there's little optimism but I think we can at least grab a point, and I'll happily take it.
Yes, I'll be curious to watch which team has the better Negroes. I love Lampard's optimism BTW about how Chelsea wasn't going into their tournament as title contenders.

I've always been stunned that such small countries like Croatia or Holland produces such great sportsmen. Holland was a sort of dissapointment this time (but I'm happy Denmark won). Is this the beginning of the end of the "Dutch-Dynasty" or will they rise up and bring us magic again...

England and France is a hard cookie. I wish with all of my body that England and Sweden could leave the group together, but have just tiny doubts about tomorrow against Ukraine. With 100% inspiration for 90 minutes it may be a winner tomorrow.

England and Sweden plays pretty similar kind of football and Hodgson was a famous manager here for quite som time and I have fond memories of him when I was a kid. Sweden never had troubles with playing against England so that will be pretty interesting game.

Ukraine is a mystery to me but as always those teams toughest ones to beat.

If I really had to guess, unforunately I think Sweden will not go on from the group, I think Ukraine will, but the second team from the group is harder to pin down...

Its around the world now that negroes are taking over the footy fields from the US (gridiron) Europe (soccer) and now Australian rules (Football).

Why don't they just call it negroes vs negroes ? because that's whats it turning out to be. I don't really see Germany V's England, Netherlands V's France, Sweden V's Switzerland etc.. Without European natives, it's not a European country V's another European country.

I am optimistic, Sweden will make a good game and qualify.

Sweden has an excellent goalkeeper, Isaksson and two good midfelders, Seb Larsson and Kim Källström.
