That was a shame; Croatia could have won that match if not for Casillas. They gave it everything and were more dangerous on the counter, but just couldn't convert two or three great opportunities. That ref was also going easy on Spain as well. The important point, however, is that the Spain we saw today was closer to the one in the opening match against Italy - that is, when faced with a decent side, they're far from invincible. The goal against Croatia came because the latter got desperate and threw everyone into offence. From group D I would fancy England or France to have a real chance against them, and I certainly believe Germany can take them down if it comes to that.

I think Spain tactically played very well, and I think Craotia fell in to it. Yes I agree that Croatia had some good shots to get a heads up, but that's something Spain already counted on. Even the weakest teams will eventually get one or two chances to score, but only the better teams actually do score in the end. I'm not saying Croatia is a weak team but Spain is definitely a better team.

I really thought Croatia would go for a goal much earlier, but the game developed as the game Cech against Poland. Croatia just don't have the physiqe nor a game genius as Spain. Modric of course is a great player but him and a couple of others just isn't enough.

Well, Italy just did their job today. Nothing more and nothing less.

My great hopes for tomorrow would be if Sweden could get a least 3 points to take home with them, and England to beat Ukraine. I want to see Rooney in more games than just this one

Tomorrow's set of matches are probably going to unfold with English and French progression to the next stage, about which I am more or less pleased. I would have preferred the Ukraine to make it out of the group over France, but that's too bad. I agree with someone else's suggestion that Germany are likely going to go on to the semi final, they will probably threaten to call in some debts if they don't get an automatic win over Greece. If England end up as Runner up in this group, and some how manage to defeat Spain and then either the Czechs or (more likely) the Portuguese, we could see an Eng Ger final eventually. Though that probably won't happen. My prediction is Spain - Germany final, I guess. Who knows though.

Anyway, Sweden really only lost to England (in my opinion) because of that lucky tap from Walbeck's heel. I think Zlatan's most impressive feat this whole time has been out pacing John Terry in that little jaunt. Anyway, maybe Zlatan will score a goal today, who is to say. That is to say, he might if he were on their team!

    Terry contained Zlatan well

Ukraine deserved to win yesterday (and actually did scored an equalizer against England).

No they didn't - and no they didn't; Ukraine, needing a win much more than England, was obviously going to come out roaring and try to grab an early goal. England sat back and let them tire out, then took the game to them in the second half.

As for "the goal that never was", Devic was fed offside, and the only bad officiating here was in the fact that he wasn't called for it. It's less than 24 hours later and I'm already beyond sick of hearing about this. He was in an offside position, and justice was served by not awarding that goal. Why is it alright for a referee error to screw England but not Ukraine? Not that Ukraine was screwed in this situation as the goal shouldn't have counted anyway. Our concern with this situation should be the fact that the officials missed an offside that could have cheated England out of a win.

For England's part, they were denied a clear penalty for a foul on Carroll, and several other decisions erroneously went against them as well. That's football.

I know England is a friendly Germanic country but I just can´t support the English football team during Euro 2012 with that many Black players in the team. There are four or five of them, maybe even six!? That´s too much to feel sympathy for the team.

Why couldn't Sweden play like this against Ukraine? They would have gone through with England.

I also wish that. But I guess it's easier to play without pressure, and also France felt comfortable and didn't put in 100%.
