Probably because northern Iran is inhabited by non-Iranians (Armenians, Kurds, and Azerbaijanis). Northern Iran, in traditional Turkic invasion and history is the original Azerbaijan. Russian influence finds itself in Northern and Caspian Iran, where many Russian and Russian Armenian settlements took place escaping the communist regimes.

I've heard a lot about Russian settlements in Northern Iran too. An Iranian friend of mine from somewhere around the caspian claims to be ethnic russian.

Ya I know, the world is Iranian because Iran today is decendant of the Aryans who lived on the Iranian/Indian border. Ya, and the Turks are the greatest Hittites!

Its not so shocking...Russians still live in parts of the Middle East with Armenians, such as Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Iran...even Italians (in Egypt). I have a friend who visited Sudan and said there was a huge Armenian/Russian business community there. I don't see what other ethnicity in the region would conduct business, successfully (besides Israelis, although no one likes doing business with them).

Like I said, some soviet citizens escaped some lived there for business. Before it was easy to get smuggled into Iran through Azerbaijan because northern Iran was completely Azeri as well. A lot of gypsies would smuggle their drugs in through Azerbaijan to the USSR.

How come almost every nation in the Middle East, including Iran, with a Kurdish minority wants to get rid of them?

Because the landmass they call Kurdistan is split between those nations? No nation will willingly give up a large chunk of their land because a minority group claims that chunk as their ancestral home.

Iran has no problem with Kurd's...they just don't like them starting problems in other nations and ruining their relations with Iran...Iran has always helped the Kurds.

Untrue...only 50% of the areas Kurds inhabit actually belongs to the Kurds as is their true ancestral lands. The Kurds in Turkey replaced a certain group of people, and were paid (by the Seljuks) to immigrate to Anatolia (since the Kurds were muslims). There are now Kurds all the way to Syria living in areas Kurds never existed, even as far as Lebanon. Kurdistan used to consist of North Eastern Iraq, and Northern Wester Iran (not so far north as Salmas however).

A Kurdish migrant once came to my high school, for a presentation because of some kind of multiculturalistic theme week we had, it was about 'refugees'. He said that Kurds are hated, by the people (so not over 'insurgency' matters) by the Turkish, Iranians, Syrian etc. people.

But I have clearly been misinformed then. Thanks for telling me.

This is not new to me, I'm very aware of it. But how do Kurds and, say, Armenians generally get along?

I remember recently a group of PKK'ers was arrested in the Netherlands who've been travelling via Armenia to the Netherlands and Turkey, to train (in the Netherlands) and to do what they've been training for (in Turkey).

So what? Kurds ARE Iranians(not all are people of Iran, but of Iranian stock).
I am a Kurd. Why I call my self Iranian? Because I am from Iran?
Because I have no culture, language and religion?
NO!!! Because we Kurds are ARYANS and our brothers are Persians, Tajiks, Pashtons, Gilakis, Talyshians...!
Why shouldn`t we unite like the Europeans did???
Razming come down. You know well that Kurds are Iranians.
Sure Armenians are brothers, but Kurds are as well Iranians!
