One thought I had about beards is the fact that some men use them to hide their weak chins and jaws. So even though it's armor on your ego, I wonder if this might have some detrimental eugenic consequences in the long run for a people who choose to grow beards because for example square and masculine chins are one physical trait a woman looks for in a male (isn't Alpinization caused by similar situations?)

Maybe shaving is also better because beards shed like crazy leaving nasty hairs everywhere, it's hard to eat with a mustache, food gets stuck in your beard and if you don't have access to regular showering you might develop bacterial problems... Not to mention the combat-related problems like gas masks and hairs being pulled in melee combat.

And no, I don't really think beard hairs act as antenna for unknown psychic forces that give you instinctive combat power.

It does certainly make sense, hair of all type is there for a reason, and is in a way an extension of the nervous system, so the idea that people who do not shave and have slightly longer hair than the trimmed army hairstyle would be more perceptive in certain situations to some extent. As I always said: Had nature wanted us to be entirely devoid of hair (and this includes facial hair), she would have created us without any.
Wait why do you use the word Injun, do you mean Indian (pronounced with some odd accent)? Normally you spell rather well, is this wrong on purpose?

Anyway looks like this was a joke :p. I'd think rather a large beard would tend to get more in the way when in the military now considering how things work, maybe it could be used as a pillow if it were big enough when sleeping out in the woods or something.

Well, it makes perfect sense to me... Tigers and bears are hairy all over, and look how effective they are in combat.
Most people think as they are trained to think, and most people make a majority.

I remember some of the hype for Medal of Honor (Xbox 360) was that you could unlock a beard for your character in online multiplayer because realife spec ops were allowed beards. - They never implemented it though.

IN my observation those with particularly weak chins and jaws are often enough those unable to grow a full beard.

So even though it's armor on your ego, I wonder if this might have some detrimental eugenic consequences in the long run for a people who choose to grow beards
It didn't have detrimental genetic consequences (there is no such thing as "detrimental eugenics" ) on our ancestors for thousands of years to run around bearded, why would it have any detrimental consequences of the type on us?

Maybe shaving is also better because beards shed like crazy leaving nasty hairs everywhere, it's hard to eat with a mustache, food gets stuck in your beard and if you don't have access to regular showering you might develop bacterial problems
You don't need regular showering to keep your beard clean, a source of open water will suffice; so unless you're in the desert, you're not going to develop an issue of being too far from water for a long period of time.

... Not to mention the combat-related problems like gas masks and hairs being pulled in melee combat.
I work as a security guard and have long hair and a chin beard, and I have not yet had either of them pulled.

I often use it to describe "Native Americans" or American Indians, in this form to distinguish them from the people from the Indian peninsula.
-In kalte Schatten versunken...

(Heimdalls Wacht, In kalte Schatten versunken, stanzas 4-6)

Scandinavian soldiers in A-stan tend to grow beards.

I just read the OP, and was about to comment on how men don't know which way to go anymore.
Shave and moisturize, and you're labelled a meterosexual.
    Grow a beard, and you're a caveman.

However, others have pointed out that the site is satirical: http://www.duffelblog.com/about/

Nevertheless, in countries where the burqa is banned, growing a beard may be a natural way for religious extremist ladies to cover those female faces: a Santa beard and a comb over, and voila - you're as unrecognizable as cousin It from the Addams Family.
