Heligoland off the North Sea coast was holy in Pagan times to the Frisians, hence its name. It was once part of a much larger landmass.

I have been at Helgoland, albeit As a Tourist and in Young Age. It is an interesting place nonetheless.

Thank you all for your help and advice

They say that Woden use to be worshipped atop the Brocken, in the Harz Mountians, and this place went on being SO associated with the gathering of "witches" in the ages that followed that tourism there hinges on the notion. Apparently the moutain also figures prominently in the tale of Faust.

I'm plannig a trip out to the Harz in a year or two; planning on a couple days of hiking through the Harz and then a couple more checking out the small towns like Wernigrode and/or the historic Goslar. Google it. Beautiful.

    This is Old Saxon land.
