What if you had Adolf Hitler in the sights of your sniper rifle, ready to take down the Fuhrer and drastically change World War 2? Then you, my friend, would probably be playing the pre-order bonus DLC for Sniper Elite V2, which gives a surreal opportunity to pick off the head of Nazi Germany himself.


"Intel has been received that Hitler is returning from Berchtesgaden to Berlin via his personal train. Players must intercept the train as it waits at the station and take down the Fuhrer as he hastily makes way for the station on foot," publisher 505 Games explains. "There is only one opportunity to snipe Hitler and do what so many wish had been done - make it count."

The snappily-named 'Assassinate The Fuhrer - Kill Hitler DLC Pack' also adds two extra guns, the Soviet SVT-40 battle rifle and the German Kar 98 service rifle--for all your Hitler-killing needs.

Developed by Rebellion, Sniper Elite V2 is headed to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 1. The game was originally announced as a console exclusive, but is also coming to PC.

There has been many what ifs throughout history regarding historical events, especially during wartime. Many in WW2 alone. Did the United States know about Pearl Harbor beforehand and just let itself get attacked? What if Germany had withdrawn a little to rest up for the winter and then continued the attack on Russia during the next spring. What if germany had continued its invasion of Britain a little more vigor than it did.

Is this a computer game ? It would figure, I don't personally like computer games. Find them boring.

I am glad I was not alive during ww2 because I have German blood and have relatives over there today somewhere and would hate to think I would have to fight them. No way this would of worked for me and glad my relatives that were alive that did serve, served in the pacific and not in europe. Our relatives did write to each other after the war ended so there was no animosity towards each other. I would just like to know where in Germany my relatives are from. Anyway went off the topic of this thread a little bit but I can not stand seeing any ww2 games.

I think that when we get 'games' involving the assassination of actual historic figures with their features shown in graphic detail, just waiting for you to mess them up with a bullet, you realise you are part of a very sick, desensitised society.

I wonder if it would be deemed acceptable to include others on the target list, such as ...

Menachem Begin (Jewish terrorist/PM of Israel)
Malcolm X (Black racist, 'hate' agitator)
Winston Churchill (Warmonger & War Criminal)
Joe Stalin (Holodomor etc..)
Mao Zedong (36 m. killed during the 'Great Leap Forward')

At the very least we should have a 'multi-option' mode here where you can choose the person you intend to murder - if that's your thing - instead of the designated bad guy being Adolf Hitler (once again ... )

Or maybe we could even kill some characters who are still alive (after all, where do you draw the line here?) such as George Bush or his mental sidekick, Tony Blair? I'm sure that Nelson Mandela would also be a popular choice with some gamers

Yes, I can certainly see some great marketing possibilities for a sequel to this 'game', should it ever become a best-seller!

On other leaders being assasinated... there is JFK: Reloaded. Don't remember ever seeing any Godwinson listed, apart from Winston Churchill being an unlockable character in one of the Playstation 1 Medal of Honor games for multiplayer.

For a computer game to be immersive, I have to identify with the character Iam playing, to kill the David who stood up to the Goliath of global banking, especially as we are now watching the chickens come home to roost, is not where my sympathies lie.

Far better the flight sim IL2 where you can fly on the side of the Germans, feeling good that every British bomber you destroy saves the lives of many innocent women and children.

I can also get the same feeling shooting down Luftwaffe bombers while flying the British or Soviet aircraft.

The Doom series is on my backlog of 'games I should have played by now'. Right after the game Wolfenstein 3D, staring Mecha Hitler, by the same developers.
