    Decolonization or Colonialism?

Which relationship with the motherland do you prefer, decolonization or colonialism?

Decolonization brings independence, can lead to isolationism but it doesn't deny imperialism from the new settlement. Example: USA.

Colonialism with European nations as the motherlands and main headquarters. Australians still consider Britain the motherland, or Canadians.

I think it depends on how well the nation can support itself. I'd prefer decolonization for the US because it allowed them to build themselves to a superpower and expressed the survival of the underdog.

As for other unchristianized and uncivilized places I think they are better as being colonized. In the words of William McKinley "Uplift, Civilize and Christianize!"

Honestly, I'm definitely more of a decolonization type. Just like the German saying "Was du nicht willst, dass man dir tu’, das füg auch keinem ander'n zu." [= Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.]
If a nation is not able to substain itself without the help of others, it's called natural selection. Every ethnicity should have it's own nation to thrive and/or die in without any other nation coming in "for a surprise" (bad or good).
Yes, I'm a reactionary and am hoping that many nations that thrive today mostly because of colonization of other countries, will be the first ones that go down tomorrow. :-)

The only reason I see to observe American independence, is the maturity of a child moving into a new house, but prefer greater civility. Otherwise, I prefer a constitutional monarchy like Australia and find it better than Canada by lack of Frogs.

Colonialism full-stop, also would much rather have had a constitutional monarchy. It makes me sick sometimes to ponder what could have been with America and even sicker to think we've inherited nearly all the fatal flaws that enraged us to the point of independence in the first place. What was it all for?

I think that crunch time should have been with the conclusion of the Civil War, because there really wasn't any more reason to keep on keeping on with the death of antebellum America. Reconstruction discredited the country as it was and I say this while in agreement with what Wilberforce did in British lands elsewhere, even though my Virginia ancestors drove the slaves that my New England ancestors shipped them. America should have retaken Canada and submitted to the Queen at the same time. This would have been easier if only Louisiana, Oregon and Hawaii were instated, because the involvement in Mexico and Alaska weren't along the same lines as Canada. Then again, we did get Florida initially because of Britain. Further Hispanic annexations were inevitable with Texas being the furthest extent of Louisiana, in a domino effect. Alaska was going to Canada if not America then anyway, just like Oregon.

For future retirement, I thought about moving to Belize since it's a natural paradise and former British colony - British Honduras. When I visited years ago, I toured Belize 16 years after it decolonized from Britain. Many locals did not have one positive thing to say after they separated from Britain. The hospitals became unsanitary and dilapidated, schools dropped in quality, roads fell apart with massive washouts and potholes, and crime increased significantly. I was surprised as the Belizeans greatly desired separateness from Britain at one time. Looking at the ethnic racial mixes, "About 34% of the population is of mixed Maya and European descent (Mestizo), 35% are Kriols, about 10.6% are Maya, and about 6.1% are Afro-Amerindian (Garifuna)." Well, only 3% of the people remaining in Belize are truly European. Today, it is a very violent country with robbing gangs much like Mexico that attack locals and tourists for their wealth. Belize city is one of the most dangerous places in the world.

I learned an important lesson early one. After I experienced travels abroad in 3rd world countries, I understand the human misery index and mass corruption where the government has lost its control over the general population, or the government causes these disastrous outcomes in their own communities. We cannot allow millions of people into our country and expect no change as people vote in incompetent, greedy politicians to serve the public in exchange for programs and entitlements. It is so obvious what American government has done to its citizens. I can see our future like Belize because permanent legislation has been put in place to overrun our borders for cheap labor and ethnic replacement. Many economic seekers can be more easily controlled than 1 million Europeans who still "think." I think as Britain weakens US will weaken with it. Former colonies like Canada, US, and Australia will be overran due to poor legislation and Global interests.
