    For the Metal Connoisseurs

I like stuff like summoning, my dying bride, old theatre of tragedy, old cof, old dimmu borgir, Old mans child, some moonspell, darkthrone is hit or miss, mortiis/emperor, and a little of burzum although I want to get to know more of his experimental side. Two questions:

    1) Can anyone recommend any more bands like these or some good gloom/doom metal

    2) does anyone know the full cd section of Burzum's experimental side or any other experimental black metal.

I dont really like death metal ex. Deicide, Six feet under (although old Morbid Angel rocks) and not into stuff like satyricon (although I really dig the storm project), children of bodom, etc

Forgot to mention I like Tiamat/lucyfire

First off, you have good taste... black and doom metal are probably my two favorite metal genres, by far the most emotional and passionate genres in well, any music really, but definitely metal.
Second, I'd say a band like Year of No Light sounds like what you are looking for. They are a very textured drone/doom metal band with ambient elements, very, very depressive-sounding as well. I'd describe it as a vast sonic landscape of sorrow, if that makes sense. Give these songs a shot

You mentioned you like Burzum, but you want something more experimental. I'd recommend Dodheimsgard, Mirrorthrone, Arcturus and Borknagar. They are all black metal bands, but they are very, very, VERY out-there and avant-garde compared to most BM bands. Not very Burzum-esque, however.

Check out Candlemass, great Swedish band. Best doom metal band I've ever heard. My personal favorite of theirs is their album Ancient Dreams, classic metal.

    I would beg to differ.

There is an honesty in this music that can be found no where else.
Although the word "Commando" was wrongly used to describe all Boer soldiers, a commando was a unit formed from a particular district. None of the units was organized in regular companies, battalions or squadrons. The Boer commandos were individualists who were difficult to control, resented formal discipline or orders, and earned a British jibe that"every Boer was his own general".

For the more Burzumesque stuff, there's so much out there to discover, I'll start with stuff that fascinated me recently:

Fyrnask - Bluostar (German Black Metal, not "expressionist" experimental, but still unusual with very interesting details)
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7m7ZmtXKTY

Infestus - Ex | Ist (German Black Metal)
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1LkFbdWHBc

If you dont mind your Black Metal a bit "jazzy"
Den Saakaldte - Øl, Mørke og Depresjon (instant classic, unfortunately the following releases dont even come near this)
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=12gC-W_RzDc

Drudkh - Autumn Aurora (Russian Black Metal with a folkish spin, very melancholic)
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yf3eyXhlwg

If you digged Lifelover, check their evil twin from Norway:
    Dystopia Nå - Syklus
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DC4ytespJQ

    Black-Doom from Netherlands:
    Urfaust

Really obscure stuff from Denmark: Nortt
Identifies as Black Metal, "technically" Funeral Doom though, brutally minimalistic and something one needs time for (warning: Nortt is a black hole sucking life, light and the very will to live)
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=baMt3siXcD8

Folk Doom from Denmark: Grívf - Yggdrasil (doesnt employ Drums but is maybe the most crushing Folk album ever, very interesting)
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=g83OwXaZUiA

Okay, that shall be enough for the moment
