    I was raised Lutheran.
Spent a lot of time with my grandmother when I was young and she was pretty much religious. So she read to me from the bible every day and interpret and got me several kids editions of the bible. Fun stories, however I never really believed in any of that and never really got connected with the church. I was confirmed at age 13 but already couple of years later I started to distance my self from that organization.
Many from my family were Lutheran priests in the past.

I was raised Catholic, and actually believed in the truth of Catholic dogma for some time, too.

In later life some of my best teachers and influences were Roman-Catholic individuals, and in specific Irish Catholics.
So i'm in no small gratitude to them, and actually played at times with the idea to convert to the Vatican.

I read your father is an Irish-Catholic. Stick with him. Maybe later in life you will find that he may have been right on many accounts, and maybe you are going rediscover your faith when you have matured. I know how you feel, i also distanced myself from my Church out of political reasons mostly. (immigration question, the "official-view" of the Lutheran Church is disgusting since 1945. I know, i know the reason is of course that the Lutheran Church was Church of Prussia until 1945. Now it is the Church of Sweden (most numerous adherents per state, and the LC treats all states of the German Federation individual. Sure, if you sum all German states than the Lutheran Chuch of Ge would still be bigger than the American or Swedish branch).

That being said, i am secular and don't make religion an issue, because there are already too many dividers between our Northern European/Germanic people.

    Roman Catholic.........

It was the legacy of my Family, several generations of Catholics.

In 1980, I turned my back on the Jewish,Catholic, Christian God.

I Pledged my Lot, with the Pagan, Heathen Ancestral Gods, of my Folk, at
Yule, 1980. I have made Offerings to them, since then.
Since 1994, I have led a small Asatru Kindred dedicated to our Ancestral Germanic Gods.

I was raised Protestant, but early in my teens I realized that sort of thing wasn't for me. I always felt a natural affinity with Our Pagan Gods.

    I was raised (southern) baptist.

Funny thing though - (well in a sense) - I don't think I've ever actually been a baptist. I haven't been and do not want to be baptized.
I was in high school before I learned that baptist was just a branch (or whatever) of Protestantism. I thought Protestant was just another thing, like Presbyterian or Lutheran. All those were just branches of Catholicism which was totally the exact same thing as Christianity.

It might have stuck with me better if someone had ever taken the time to sit down with me and come up with a list of things Baptists believe in. I got that they don't believe in baptizing babies and a person should only be baptized when they choose. As for telling someone the difference between, say, a Baptist and a Methodist besides that? No clue.

I was just kind of thrown into it when I was 4 and again at age 8-ish on until 17 when I graduated high school. I was sort of just expected to "go with it," but I just don't have it in me to believe something just because someone else says it's true. :\

That said, I'm pagan with a few Christian influences.
