    Homeschooling and Heathenism

Just out of curiosity, are there any heathens here who homeschool their children? If so, how do you incorporate your faith into your teachings?

Really!???? It is so common to do in North America. I even did home schooling for part of my 11th year in school

The idea is to work within and without of the system. Not everything they teach children is false. It teaches lies within the truth mainly.

You can teach them the essential stuff in your spare time after school and at weekends. It is leaving it entirely to others that is wrong make sure you ask them what they are taught and correct them accordingly.

An hour of real education is worth six of anything else.

I think you can buy some books on teaching children about heathen ways also. It is not good to take children fully out of school though.

I recently found out it was legal to home-school in Norway and you don't even have to apply for permission, only notify the local authorities. Norway could be a good alternative for German and other nationalists, but I can understand if they don't want to leave their lands. http://www.aftenposteninnsikt.no/kul...e-alternativet

I homeschooled two of my three, each for about one year. We are not religious so this was never an issue. Homeschooling is much, much, much, easier and better than anyone will tell you it is, especially the schools. After you do this yourself, you lose all respect for teachers. We were able to work on educational weaknesses where each needed help. Both children went back to conventional school and both tested better after homeschool than before.

I was homeschooled until I was 16 and plan to do the same with my children; I don't want them fed lies and turned against themselves and their heritage. I also think teaching them how to grow food, hunt, purify water, etc. is more important than math that they'll likely never use.

I won't necessarily 'teach' them heathenry as part of their education, I hope to raise them with it so it's something more natural to them than something they'll 'learn'.

Most Germans that I know who homeschool go to Austria or Switzerland or Denmark depending on where they are located. Closer, a bit more homelike, than Norway. The fact that you originally said Norway makes homeschooling illegal was cute though. It's been legal there for a number of years now.

Is heathenry some magical art where one needs a wand nowadays? Maybe one sprouts wings and tries to touch the sky? Or do you change into Fenrir every full moon and need room to howl away like an animal?

It is the same as how any other belief system would be taught during homeschool. You tell and teach them. You make it part of their studies.

So their jobs prospects are going to be what again?

I was homeschooled, it is why I graduated university at 17. I was also taught heathenry from my parents and grandparents as it has been passed down through the generations in our family. But aside from having a good job, much better paying than manual labourer or burger flipper, where horrible math is used I also know how to grow my own food, hunt animals and butcher them properly, among other more survival based aspects.

Do the heathens of modern times actually home-school their wee ones and teach them the customs, history, lore, etc. of the old religion, or the 'natural religion?' as the Christians call it This is, and always has been, a fascinating topic to me since I am a Catholic (of the esoteric variety).

I mean no disrespect whatsoever; hail!
